If you are really concerned - Decide how much protein you feel you want or need. Everyone has an opinion on the amount you'll find. Next, get a calorie or whatever counter and figure out the protein you'd get from the food you eat or would eat. Adjust as needed or what makes you comfortable. In addition, usually the amount of protein actually needed is much lower than what you have been tol

Dr. Grahams is very popular and makes the most logical, as well as backed up sense, compared to most others it seems. In the end though you have to do what is best for your own body. Following a book or a program is a guideline. Your climate, produce availability, etc., plays into it. In addition, your lifestyle and activity level is extremely important to achieve that ultimate health you spea

Don't think it's a big deal to mix apple types myself. Mono eating generally involves one type of fruit eaten till full or satisfied at one meal. Greens or lettuce along with it is accepted by most, but not all, and still considered mono. Anything more starts to complicate it. Gosia put it best I think - "I reject a rule-based approach to eating and follow my instincts instead".

I did read one of Carol Alts books and she doesn't seem to quite follow a typical raw diet. Don't know if she has changed since and if that matters to anyone.

I might have missed it, but, I imagine most see low fat as no more than 10% fat from calories. What is considered moderate or high to most people then??

This as I mentioned in another thread is very interesting to me. I'm at a point where nuts and seeds are not an issue and I have gone years without em while 100% raw. I eat plenty of raw veggies though and don't eat any greens and am doing fine. I just would be scared to give up on the veggies for fear of unseen trouble down the road. Also living in a seasonal(no farmers markets and cold winters)

I found a decent one in the 80-10-10 book. But even that, like most others, varies by location and what may or may not be imported. I'm somewhat close to you over in Ohio and found that living it year to year is best to learn what comes around, but it does vary year to year even still. Best bet as mentioned too, is checking with locals and asking them. Winters are an adjustment I'll admit. (

This is very interesting without any greens. I can see no nuts though. :O) I wonder if the results of no greens or even veggies show up after the 5-7 year mark?? Do you ever get the desire for anything other than fruit during the winter months or are you lucky to be in a warmer climate??

2 months isn't a long time island girl. I went about 4-5 months before weight dropped off at a very fast rate too. Everyone is different and it depends on how you are approaching raw. There are many angles to choose. The weight "will" come off if you eat raw and stick to it though. The more you complicate it the more you won't get the proper results. Remind yourself to keep it simple an

You can start reading these few articles to get some general info and have fun - Also remember, everyone has an opinion, there is no "right" way to go raw. So, you need to consider what works best for you also.

If done properly, a raw diet will bring you to your natural weight or what you really should be at anotherwards. To some this may be thinner than they like. Also, their muscle mass may be lower than expected and exercise or strength training will be needed to bring it back up. Most people seem to fall short on the activity part and go off raw then it seems. Depends on you and how you adapt and ho

I have a 4500 Vitamix and was worried about the noise before I bought it. It's not really bad at all I think. Considering you don't run it for that long, it far outweighs what it can actually do. Someone said put a mousepad underneath it helps. Never tried it though.

I left after 4-5 years simply to the lack of fruit availability to cover 80-10-10 adequately in my area. It was decreasing my health actually. Since then, after being more flexible and more educated it is much easier now being %100 raw. Sometimes I think people also leave simply because people change and are restless or always searching. Also because many like to complicate things which doesn'

I think it relates to being cleaned out, which in turns brings more awareness to it. Kinda like: If you spot a soiled rag you don't really see it. If you spot a white clean rag it sticks out like a sore thumb :O)

If I'm getting it, you are doing a gentle cleanse over an extended period of time. Simply eating a more raw diet, with the amount of fruits most eat, is very cleansing in itself and I feel much easier on the body as well as healthier and productive. But, if there is an actual reason other than "feeling" you need to cleanse, I guess I don't know that. But I might be misunderstanding some

That's a whole new side to your story. I'd strongly suggest someone to guide you through what you are doing if you plan on continuing this way. It's just me, and you don't have to agree ofcourse, but you are being counterproductive to what a raw food way eating wants to accomplish for you.

Melons do better usually alone - Depends who you talk to, but about an hour is common. May not bother you at all either.

Without knowing what's causing it, some safer fruits are banana, mango, papaya and applesauce or appples without the peel. But go easy on the apples for sure. You can eat more than just one of the banana or mango also and I'd suggest that. Vegetables and lettuce might irritate things or might not. Depends unfortunately and you'd have to try. Maybe a little celery with the fruit is another idea.

Looks like you are trying to self diagnose and making some assumptions, some which I see don't ring true. I would suggest be very careful and start by asking not only why you are doing some of these things but are they truly needed?? Did you come to these conclusions by another person's experiences?? Whatever the case, if you experience symptoms that persist, do be careful and consider profess

Ashtanga is a very physical form of yoga. It can be very demanding, but you can also mold it for your own. I also would suggest david swenson's DVD and book. He also has a short forms DVD which is a 13, 30 and 45 minute ashtanga based routine. Most power yoga is based on Ashtanga or a variation to a degree. There are many different ways to use yoga. I'd suggest to find out what you want out o

To gain 10lbs of muscle is done by weights. Gaining 10lbs of muscle through food wouldn't be muscle. Eat enough calories, bananas are the easiest especially if you blend em and lift sumthin' heavy.
