211. Re: Tofu
I think tofu is like the sausage of the vegetable industry. My dad worked for a company that made machines(and race car parts!), and he made some kind of equipment that was used in processing tofu.
He actually got to watch tofu being made. Says he'll never touch the stuff!
But my dad is the kind of guy who thinks atkins is healthy, and you don't bother to argue with him about it.

212. Cucumbers
When I make my simple little soup (this is my favorite raw recipe so far)
1 cucumber
1 avacado
handful of mint
Process in food processor
I sometimes like to skin the cucumber first. Am I losing a lot of goodies by doing that?
Just wondering.

I haven't made any nut milks yet but I did make banana milk. I was thinking a combination of almond milk and banana would be yummy and cost effective. Meaning 1 cup of almond milk, and one banana blended.

I'm going to try this. Last wraps I made didn't turn out so good. Too much onion! I was tasting it for days.
What kinds of lettuce are best for wraps? I tried making one with romaine the other day, becuae they have the nice big leaves, but the crunchy "spine" made it hard to roll up. So I had to do some complicated lettuce-spine removal surgery to make it rollable. Then I'm sit

aw! I'm not laughing but you seem to have some humor about it and that is good! I guess it could be funny in a cartoonish, slapstick sort of way.
Come to think of it, just stay away from rakes for awhile....

218. Re: Staying All Raw
I'm very comfortable at my job (which can be dangerous). The main thing is that I like the people I work with. Most jobs have that "one person" that's in the office that you cant' stand. No matter where you go! But somehow I hit it lucky with this one.
Even though it's a call center, a helpdesk, which is a naturally hostile environment (becuase of the customers, not the employee

They're supposed to be best before the flowers actually bloom. Afterwards they are very bitter. But, I say that knowing that some p

When you say picked, do you mean "picked" from a garden or something, or "picked up" somewhere else since you brought it 'home' afterwards? (Sorry that was a long question)
I ask because, maybe you can just replant it. Stick it in a pot somewhere!
How about throwing it in a big jar of oil to infuse it, then you can use it for dressing or whatever. I would think the oil

I'm doing a raw apple pie for my family on Sunday. I realized today that the further ahead of time you do it the more pie-ish it becomes, so I'm going to start on the soaking of the apples and everything tomorrow.
What are we starting here? Stealth raw food-ism? raw ninjas?

You're taking the high ground Claire. It'd be so easy to make fun of a SAD diet. There are so many wonderfully horrible insults and things you could say to them. But I just keep them to myself...

It's just what it says basically. One cucumber, one avacado, and some mint. I just throw it all in my processor until

I have to say I find your skepticism healthy and refereshing. Too many people attempting to live healthier lives tend to buy into what they hear a bit too quickly sometimes.

aww! Sorry to hear they didn't like it. But cheers for trying.
I made my first raw (apple) pie on Sunday/monday morning and thought of taking work, but it wasn't ready for prime time yet. (Too much cinnamon, not enough apples)
I'm going to make another to take to my family for easter. Mostly apple with maybe some dried cranberries and stuff thrown in. My family isn't the healthiest bun
