An easy way to test the apples prior to buying, is by holding an apple and pressing my thumb into it. If I feel and hear a 'click', I know the apple is hard. Otherwise my thumb just pushes into the apple easily, and there is no 'click', which tells me the apple is soft. Still, while this method usually works well, sometimes the apple is tastless. would this happen when produce that is stored i

Thx also Trive, a great chart. I notice that it says that the chemical sprays can slow decaying, and that organic produce tends to have a shorter shelf life. Now that sounds logical, but I've found that organic leafy greens that are refigerated last much longer than inorganic. It's also logical that organic produce has more 'life' in them, so that they last longer. So which is it??? jala

Societies are built around the 'primary' industries, such as current farming practices. What would happen to the grain, meat and dairy industries if a majority of people changed their eating habits to that of a raw vegan diet! jalan

Yes HH, all the so called 'wild' cats that I've encountered were big and fully self-sufficient. Survival of the fittest I guess. I remember seeing the horror movie 'Dogs' at the drive-in theatre when I was in my teens. Right at the end it showed a domesticated cat letting out a ferocious howl. Which I guess was setting the scene for the next horrow movie 'cats'. I don't know if it was ever mad

Hi trsc, like Coco has said on this thread, the food is in contact with the plactic for such a short time that any migration from the plactic to the food would be negligible. Cheers, jalan

I just thought of something else that's associated with the word 'jalan'. It also means 'street' or 'road' or 'way' or 'track' etc. In Indonesia, every street sign begins with, 'Jalan', meaning 'Street ???'. So 'Bagus Street' would read 'Jalan Bagus'. So that adds a greater meaning to the name than only 'walk' or 'walking'. Cheers, jalan

WY, wouldn't various nuts etc., each have something unique to offer on their own? Like, I have forgotten, but don't walnuts have something specific in them??

Thx Kidraw, and I posted on the thread too haha But I do see how it's probably best not to discuss specific religious matter here (like specific religions such as Christian vs Hindu). But to use it in a generic sense, such as saying that I feel that I have grown spiritually by a widening of my consciousness...now that should be ok hey? Cheers, jalan

I thought that the reason for keeping unripe fruit and veg in a dark cool area was so that they would ripen evenly. Cause if placed on a window sil etc, they would ripen unevenly due to having only say one side exposed to the sun. jalan

Well, I'm really not sure what type of 'fat' avo's have, but they're a non-processed fruit and natural. Now that's a big plus when wanting to get a little 'fat' back in your diet I reckon. jalan

I'd agree with that DrGina, since that would be the logical explanation. However, I remember what Arnold Ehret stated within his book 'Rational Fasting', where he gives an example of one of the greatest 'fasters' at the time who lived in India, and who was only skin and bone. Ehret's argument was that this guy had nothing to live off, yet he could fast for long periods without dying. So, what

Yes, there is a spirituality connected with food, in a sense. The cleaner our bodies the clearer our perception of what's on the outside of us. We only know of the external by means of our senses...sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste. These senses are heightened as we become more clean, and our senses are sharpened. For example, the image we SEE when we open our eyes, is formed from within

I concur with Trive about showing the boy face, God, what were they thinking. In the olden days, it was common pracise to continue breast feeding even up to 5yrs, according to the Bible. I don't believe that the media should've exploited the practise as they have done here though. There's a lot to be said for delayed wheening, such as the necessary protective nutrients that prevent disease etc

This is where definitions can be different btw people, and even with common words that we all use each day. For BW, bone-dry doesn't literally mean so dry that you can light the pulp up with a match straight after the pulp exits the juicer. Where I'm concerned, it means just that, which means the total absence of moisture. The reason I said to squeeze the pulp to see if any juice comes out, is

I agree, there's a lot of wisdom in the bible. You don't have to believe in creation to benefit from reading it do you? Anyway, I didn't know that the 'Bible' was a dirty word on this forum. I didn't see anything like that when I read the code of conduct, or did I just miss it?

How is it that only I know about, or advocate 'pilates' as a good form of exercise? It's much like yoga, but specialises in the core muscle area (stomach muscles). It was developed by a French man named Pilate', and it was primarily made to help men who were fighting in the war (not sure if it was 1st or 2nd world war). After the war, it seems that more women than men became involved in pra

Thx guys, and Trive, I too have had that problem all my life, since my first name begins with either a 'G' or a 'J', and I'm always asked which one. So, I guess it's the pronunciation that I'll have to explain with the new name of Jalan. I like the idea of adding utan as a middle name, might do that. Many of you like my current 'Wood' to remain my surname, but I'd really like to change that to

I don't like captive animals either, but sometimes zoo's are the only place where a certain species are kept, since the clearing of their habitat has made them almost extinct. Also, zoo's generally have a breeding program, where endangered species are helped to pro-create. So, it's a case of 'don't throw the baby out with the bath-water' type situation I reckon.

Cetana, don't worry about the heat or foam. It's normal for the stainless steel housing to get a little hot since metal conducts much greater heat than plastic. Also, there's actually no evidence that the heat generated by juicing, whether it's a crushing (the angel) or the slicing of a high speed juicer will destroy nutrients. It's also normal to get froth, and the screen is the culprit here. Th

Damn, my paper didn't go through grrr. Anyhoo, 'long boats from Asia'? maybe, as like I said, there's no concrete evidence for any of the theories. At one stage, there was a theory that humans used long boats from South Africa straight to Tazmania. This was because there have been found very old remains in Tazmania that would suggest it was the first contact point. These remains indicate that peo

Hey Jan, consensus yes, though the consensus doesn't have any real evidence. The land bridge THEORY near the end of the last ice-age is the most popular. But evidence in the form of fossils being dated using the C-14 method show that the oldest bits of human activity should have been near the top end of Oz, but it's not. The oldest fossils are found much further south. Moreover, various types of

Yes, I agree to continue with the resistance training, that's great for toning, increasing strength and to reverse bone density loss. Other than that, yoga is great for streching exercises and my favourite pilates, that's a must do for strengthening the core muscles which will allow you to perform all other exercises properly and with ease. Cheers, jalan x

Thank you...you beautiful people, so much wisdom in one place, and I see such wisdom in your words regarding 'making sure' before I action anything. Actually, when Tam said, 'I think it would fly in Australia', made me think of where I would live and work in the future. My name mustn't be too 'out there', or I could have major problems. For example if I was sent to work (mental health social

I guess this is a little off topic for this forum, but it is, sort of to do with dietry change, cause since I've seriously changed my eating habits, my whole outlook has also changed as a consequence. Including a desire to change my name to one that more suits my new outlook. So I was wondering, what do you think of say 'Jalan' as a proper first name??? Or even, 'Jalan Utan' as a first and sir

Tam, I can see how witholding information would harbour an accurate diagnosis. Moreover, if you know your Doc well enough, and you feel that that sort of info wouldn't create a bias, then go for it. But, if you don't know the Doc from a dehydrated goanna , then perhaps a compromise would be to say that you eat a lot of salads, and then gauge their response. If there's no hint of a bias, then f
