Coco, mine used to last at least a week or two. You are blessed to only get them for a few days. Another good remedy is stuff called 'Bonjela'. You get it over the counter at the drug store. It numbs the effected area and also seals it from air. There's another med that I've used in the distant past that you apply immediately you detect a cold sore. It sure works, and stops the thing in it'

Hmmm yes it would be very helpful Paul. Also, I've noticed lately that there's BPA free drink containers being advertised here in Oz. So, I wonder what other chemical they use, as there's usually an alternative? Frankly, I don't beleive that any plactics are any good for health in the long term. Cheers, jalan

Sounds logica to me. Thx for posting this. When I used to signwrite with paint and brushes, I always cleaned up with turpentine. And even though I used to immediately, or as soon after as possibel, wash of the turps with soap and cold water, my hands looked like the hands of an eighty year old. But since computers hit the signage scene, my hands have improved markedly although still look older th

Hey powerlifter, thx for clarifying and I agree with you regarding the TOS. I believe that it does explain the focus on mutual respect etc. Below is copied directly from the TOS, and pretty much covers every situation.... * Foul language * Rude, offensive, insulting or vulgar posts. * Anything for sale or give away * Asking for, or giving medical advice, or * Requests for contributions

Hi, I found this bit of info about an apparent 'safety' measure that's built into most if not all domestic solar panel grid-tie heating systems. That if the power-grid fails, then so does your solar panels. Check it out at.... Cheers, jalan

Ok, well I was only trying to help 'experimentwithtruth' and also have my say. Also, there's no way I'm leaving this forum, for despite the odd altercation, it's still the best darn forum on the net...IMO of course.

Yes, they had/are having a lot of problems with the metal on metal and metal on polyethylene joints. I've done considerable research on hip replacements, as you would imagine and I insisted on ceramic on ceramic. Ceramic has less wear and is more 'wetable', which means that surrounding tissue moisture will act as a lubricant. Also, ceramic wear particles are small enough not to activate the im

Hi ExperimentsWithTruth, One of the reasons why I love this forum, is due to it's strictly vegan nature. And while we are at varying stages, I would suggest that the vast majority of us are aspiring to be 100% vegan, and have already made the decision to exclude animal products from our diet, and if possible, from our life. Most of us believe that changing our life-style in this way will benef

Hi, All the above are reasons why I'm not a donor. Years ago I watched an old movie called 'OR 9' or operating theature 9, where people were killed during a minor operation solely for the purpose fo securing organs. The people responsible were making tons of money, and there was also a movie about people going in for minor problems and being put into, and kept in a coma. When a specific time h

The ideal christian thang is to go by what's said in Genesis about all vegetation is for food for humankind. Sure, after the flood God said it was ok to eat meat since there was no veg food after the flood. BUT IT WASN'T A COMMAND. Also, during Daniel's time, those young men wouldn't eat the foods of the king that God has said were 'unclean'. But in the first century, God said it was ok to eat al

During some research I was involved in re protein, I discovered that unless you're an infant, you only need 8 essential amino acids. Only infants need the amino acid 'histidine' which is received through human milk, and from then on this amino acid is synthesised by the liver, as do all but 8 amino acids. This info is from the 'The Journal of Nutrition' vol 101, number 4, April 1971, pp. 539-5

Sweet, and thanks for posting, as the degree of knowledge on this forum is astounding. I've neverrrr seen a forum such as this, and thx powerlifter for clearing that up for me. I remember that I used to have a hot freshly squeezed lemon drink with a little honey each and every night prior to retiring. Even though at that time I wasn't raw vegan, I NEVER got a cold or flu or any other viral thing.

This is a sticky point, where do you get your protein??? Actually, many vegies have all the essintial amino acids, even tomatoes. I went back to research the very early studies when scientists were finding out what food was made of. I think it was around 1910ish, but for some reason....these early studies aren't generally available. Could it be that the 'meat and dairy' industries have supressed

Yeah, I do similar Jodi, but I reckon that if you brown up gradually you won't need anything IMO. After all, isn't that's why we turn brown, to protect us from burning, where the real damage is done??? Cheers, jalan

How about a unicorn with wings??? I made one up in sticker form to sell at the local flea markets. I'm a signwriter by trade, and had to convert to computer graphics in the early 90's. Since I had a lot of scrap left over, I decided to design stickers to sell at flea markets, swap meets, drag races etc. I started in 92 with no competition until about 94 when I heard of another company also sellin

God, a person would have to be a chemist to know all the ins and outs of food nutrients. I think this is where we let our body do the math, and let it tell us when we need a certain food due to a particular nutrient content. jalan

I believe that all citrus is actually base-forming or has an alkaline affect in the body. Just cause the fruit contains citric acid doesn't make it acid-forming. Please correct me if wrong, but all my research says this. Also, all animal products are acid-forming in the body. Oh, not all, as I think that oysters are alkaline and the exception. Now, regarding an aid to improving stomach acid, I

Listening to your body is ok when you have transitioned to raw vegan, since your body at that time is more in tune and balanced. Prior to this though, your body is still craving SAD food, so I ask you, 'Does your body know what's best for it'? Also, Psychology has a lot to do with diet change. One of the reasons why people over eat in the beginning, is that they believe that they aren't gettin

Oh Jodi, I knew of a guy who had shingles all over his back and front. He said it was very painful, so I feel for you having had that. Yes, it could be detox, or just a consequence of the sad diet. However, I've heard a lot of people going through a lot of various discomforts when changing to raw vegan, or even when fasting. No pain, no gain hey! That's interesting what you said Phantom, about

Herpes simplex (cold sore) is best treated with 'lysine', as has been mentioned repeatedly. Also, I remember some sort of med that eases the pain of a full blown outbreak, though it's name escapes me at present. While supplementation is ok (if in fact it's absorbable), what I'd suggest, is to include in our diet, foods high in lysine as a preventative rather than a treatment. Unfortunately, an

Thank you so much for re-energising this post Prana, as I can identify with everything you have mentioned. You have explained to me what I am only partially aware of. I found that exercise at my local gym, and my uni study has helped me no end. But even then, I have found that I need to change the venue where I study often, as a way of coping. I go down to the beach, or up to the hinterland in

Yes, it's all true, and if people actually knew how their food was processed, I doubt if they would eat it. And that's why these huge controlling multi-nationals like 'Monsanto' fight tooth and nail to prevent the public from knowing these 'facts'. Another excellent DVD is called 'Food Inc.', and is similar. It's a movie length production of how 'Monsanto' and other mega companies control food
