Amy's sells mostly vegetarian products (most have dairy) in the stores. I used to eat their products every once in a while when I was a vegetarian and my husband really likes their foods. They are, overall, not the worst for you veg food out there. It's great to hear they will be offering plenty of vegan options in their restaurant instead of just vegetarian though! Heck, if I'm ever in Californi

I do take a vegan b-12 because I know it's next to impossible to get enough on a vegan diet, but I try to get the rest of my nutrition from my food. I track what I eat in cronometer, and there have been a few nutrients I've noticed i was lacking in, so I googled foods with those nutrients and began incorporating more of those foods in my diet rather than take more supplements. The only powder

I am looking for a delicious raw-burger recipe that does NOT have mushrooms. I've tried quite a few recipes now, and I just haven't hit on one I love. I think it's the fact many include mushrooms. Any good recipes to share? Nut or seed base are fine

I like to use roma tomatoes ('guts' scooped out, or else the sauce will be too wet), red bell peppers, a little garlic, pinch of salt+pepper and some italian seasoning (ok, not sure if that's 100% raw, but it is organic). I just blend it up in the food processor and it makes a rather tasty pasta sauce I like a whole lot

I had to see a dentist today to have a cavity filled. It's been there for quite some time (since before I went raw). I could feel it was getting bigger and would likely have started hurting soon. I have been using homemade remineralizing toothpaste since around the time I went raw and have been using a water flosser for several months. Unfortunately, this cavity was probably too big to begin with

I don't think horseback riding is a very 'vegan' activity. Typically, vegans try to reduce their reliance on animals and animal exploitation as much as possible. There is absolutely no valid reason in this day and age to ride a horse. I don't doubt that some individual horses and certain individual humans can form very strong bonds, but I don't think that means the horse necessarily wants the hum

Whole oats have the hull, oat groats do not. Whole oats are not commonly sold in stores, as the hulls are inedible and hard to remove at home. I wonder how they make the raw rolled oats? They steam oat groats to soften them enough to roll in regular rolled oats. I wonder if the raw ones are just soaked?

I use oat groats and to be perfectly honest, it is probably more my own impatience rather than them not being able to sprout Waiting the better part of a week to make a batch of yogurt would be....difficult for me I actually did a lot of research into oats when first transitioning to raw since they are one of my favorite foods. The whole oats and oat groats are not heated or treated in any way

Cherry limeade is just cherries and limes. I used to (forever and ever ago) get a drink at Sonic by the same name that was some kind of soda (surely artificially flavored) that was always so good in the summer. The raw vegan version is much better than I remember the SAD version though: -3 limes (juiced) -3 cups of pitted cherries (I like to freeze them first) -And a 'glass' of water (I us

I have been making raw 'oatgurt' since shortly after I went raw: I haven't had much luck getting the oats to actually sprout first, but I do soak them overnight, blend them (with a splash of lemon juice), pour them in the yogurt jars and let them ferment for 10-12 hours in the yogurt maker. I don't use a culture (I tried and it made a soupy-nasty substance). I often then pour the finished

I would find it near impossible I would be deficient in vitamin C. I start out my mornings with a glass of 4-6 juiced oranges (and have for many, many years, long before I started transitioning to raw last year). I love oranges, which are one of the best sources of vitamin c out there! I have been eating lots of romaine, lots of darker greens (mostly spinach and kale) and lots of orange and red p

I have spent the past week refinishing our bedroom furniture (so yes, quite a bit of heavy lifting, sanding, scraping, bending at odd angles ext...). However, I don't think I banged my legs into anything and am not sore at all (like muscles or anything like that). This morning I woke up and I have numerous dime-quarter sized bruises all over my legs! They don't hurt, and are not super dark, but d

I did try bringing the heat up a little, then turning it down with some apple chips yesterday. It did seem to speed up the time. I will be adding that book next time I order on Amazon. The dehydrator came with a little "guide" but it's very basic.

Hey Coconutcream- that eggplant jerky looks delicious, and I love eggplants. Would you mind posting how you made it? Like what you seasoned it with and stuff Also, HOW do you get your ketchup so red? Mine always comes out a salmon-y pink (tastes good, but doesn't look like ketchup).

Thanks for posting Coconutcream. I can respect and appreciate the attitude of considering yourself 100% raw even if there have been a few accidents. "Blips" are bound to happen when you eat and live differently from the majority of the population. I was a vegetarian for 16 years before going vegan and raw. In those 16 years, there were 3 or 4 times I unknowingly ended up taking a bite o

Interesting to read these "profiles" on the forum members! May I ask what prompted you, after being low fat for so long, to transition back to high fat then back to low fat again? I am trying to keep reasonable amount of fats in my diet because there seems to be a lot of debate about being on the extremes. Hearing more about others experiences with low/high fat is very interesting.
