Best of luck on your journey! Took me the better part of a year to fully transition to raw. It's hard, but as time goes on and you incorporate more and more raw foods, cooked foods just don't taste as good anymore. Even things your craving, if you give in, don't taste as good as you remember them tasting and don't make you feel vibrant and full of life like raw foods either. Another thing, if

I have been wanting this dehydrator for a while and finally saved up enough to order it All stainless, 8 trays, made in the USA and perfect size for my kitchen cart. I just love it! Wish my hubbies espresso maker could go elsewhere, but I guess it's fine for the dehydrator to be on the bottom shelf since it fits so perfectly. I actually was able to get rid of some superfluous pots and pans I had

By "younger" I just meant women who aren't approaching menopause (I know your cycle can change as you get closer to that).

How long after going 100% raw did it take for you to start noticing improvements in your period, cramping and breakouts? I've been 80% raw and 100% vegan for the past 9 months, 100% raw for the past 3 weeks. I became an ovo-lacto vegetarian age 10. I am so sick of crippling cramping, terrible bleeding and disgusting breakouts. I really haven't noticed that much change to be perfectly honest from

That looks really good. Did you use some kind of mushroom for the "crust"?

I have actually been looking at a countertop water distiller after noticing more and more that the tap water here is cloudy and sometimes even white-ish! (and that just can't be good). I checked municipal water reports and they fluorinate the water. I am just very much NOT wanting to drink the tap water anymore. I've actually heard before you can and should add mineral drops back to distilled

They should include parrots in that list too. Mental capacity of a 4-5 year old child, yet neglected and abused (with no motivation for authorities to act) en-mass since they're "just birds". Though, this kind of legal ruling does give me hope for the future that one day we will be free from the reliance on animals and society will move past creating undue suffering for our own selfi

Very interesting card. This is almost eerie given some current life situations. So was the card reversed or upright? Thanks for the free reading!

Sounds to me like he possibly isn't eating enough. I have no issues meeting my daily protein intake on the raw diet, but you can't eat 'normal' portion sizes that would be adequate calories for a cooked food omnivore and expect the same results when eating mostly fruit and veg. The raw diet requires you eat a huge volume of food every day since raw foods (except high fat ones, which should be lim

Ok- Will staying on the raw diet long term make me feel less empty inside? Like, emotionally?

It's been a rough few days. I was REALLY craving sugary junk food. Made up a batch of raw "brownies" instead: Just carob, dates, pecans, walnuts, agave syrup (raw), cold pressed hemp oil (only 2tbsp, subbed for coconut since I'm allergic) and a carob-banana icing. Not low fat, but still raw and satisfied my junk food craving so I didn't go making real brownies. And I'm sure i

I think our societies utter fear of sunlight is ridiculous. People have bought into the fear mongering hook, line and sinker. Common sense (to me at least) is if I'll be out in the sun for more than 15/20 minutes, I wear a long sleeve shirt and a big hat. Wanna see who gets skin cancer in 20 years? I bet it's the person who slathers sunscreen on every millimeter of exposed skin every day and not

Thanks Tai. I think I will experiment with buckwheat since it's a seed and more natural than a grain for birds. For the pellets I need a dry flour to mix in juice with to form the dough. I also think the idea of "sprout dough" is great! Most parrots like bread, so I'll mess around with making some kind of dehydrator sprout bread treats with fruit or veg in it too (I may also try some fo

So heres a challenge for everyone who would like to contribute I am trying to find some form of "dough" that can be run through my new omega juicer on the pasta noodle attachment. Curious if there is any ingredients to be used that could create a basic "pasta dough" that could be made into noodles, chopped up and dehydrated. Nut flours or grain flours are ok, I more need a

It's been a good 5 years since I got an infectious illness (long before I went raw, though I was eating a relatively unprocessed vegetarian diet then). Last thing I got was a flu bug that was going around. I was sick (minor fever, chills, aches ext...) for about 2 days. I didn't take anything for it or see a doctor, just let my body do it's thing. Had a lingering cough for a couple days after tha

In my experience, food addicts are no different than alcoholics or drug addicts. They may TALK about quitting, but have 0 intention of making any REAL changes to their bad habits. They are addicted, it's a chemical dependency in their brain, and no amount of advice or help is going to drive them to change UNLESS THEY WANT TO. If anything, unsolicited advice may just make them angry or dive deeper

Thank you. I was thinking the wheatgrass may or may not work in the short jars and I will probably just end up recycling them as I can never find a use for the dang things! Do I need to buy the expensive "soilless" wheatgrass spouters online or is there some kind of "DIY" setup that would work? I am curious what things like flax and fenugreek sprout in if they don't do wel

For what it's worth (just my personal experience)- Before I went raw, I admittedly did not eat many greens as they typically upset my stomach. After dedicating myself to maintaining at least 80% raw in my diet, I began incorporating more greens (specifically romaine, kale and spinach) into my diet via daily green smoothies (as a meal). They seemed to cause pretty unpleasant digestive issues an

@Fresh- I don't watch Hockey (or any sports for that matter, not my thing) but I do have a family who took me going vegetarian as a affront to "god" "the American way of life" and took it as a great source of shame to the family. For the first few years, I allowed myself to be lured into arguments, debates and discussions with them, armed with facts and reasons behind my op

I have owned 2 centrifugal juicers in the past and hated both (rarely used them). I have been doing a lot of blending, and just straining when need be. I am ready to try juicing again, since I am going to give growing wheatgrass a try and especially since my husband expressed and interest in drinking fresh juiced greens instead of the powdered greens he currently does (he's not raw, but has been

Interesting opinions on the matter. Perhaps the "nasty" ones are just more vocal? It seems there is a lot of catty drama calling others out without being provoked in any way, instead of just promoting what 'they' personally feel is 'right' in a respectful, mature manner. Am I the only person who's noticed this? I do think there may be something to the idea of raw amplifying personal

Thanks RP for responding. I have been sprouting mung beans, broccoli, radish and a sprout mix, but not frequently enough to yield sprouts every day. I was more wondering what would be the best use of the space I had (i.e. how many jars of what sprouts), and also if I could do wheatgrass in the short jars, or what kind of sprouts would work best in those?

I am relatively new (a year in August) to the raw vegan lifestyle. I am still learning and still figuring out what is really best for my body. As such, I have been researching online, watching some of the raw food people on youtube and I joined this forum to become more informed. I must say, I am beyond shocked and appalled at how such a seemingly high percentage of people in this community seem

QuoteWell that really gets on my nerves as WE're basically mutating and weakening animal species for our own misguided interests. Don't get me started on dogs... I don't disagree that humans never had a right to remove animals from nature, domesticate them and use them for our own purposes. But "we" (humanity) did. With some species (like dogs and cats), we began domesticating them
