I have VERY limited space in which to do sprouting, so this kind of setup is about as good as I'm going to get for now: I have been half-heartedly sprouting in (only 3) mason jars and would like to get into a better routine so I can consistently have sprouts every day. I have been procrastinating about this badly. I need help figuring out how to get started and a rotation schedule. I have

I'm not sure what % of their diet is fat. I do know they eat A LOT more fat than other species of parrots should and have developed a natural ability to process a higher-fat diet because they eat a lot of fat-rich nuts in nature. I think some of this information on hy diet helpful: And since there was some bird beak admiration going on earlier: Read the comments from the owners befo

My little raw buddy wouldn't let me eat a sunflower-seed "tuna" salad without him! Or a mini-orange But many of the "experts" say eating fruits and veg and nuts and seeds is BAD for him. His beak was OBVIOUSLY not designed to crack nuts, seeds nor is it perfect for tearing into the skin of fruits to expertly extract the juicy flesh inside. Feeding him as close to a

So I was at the store yesterday and see some regular looking apples in a little box with a "eye catching for kids" label marked "Grapples, Grape-FLAVORED apples". I looked up the company and behold! They are in fact INFUSING APPLES with GRAPE 'FLAVOR'. I guess mother nature just didn't do good enough with making apples sweet, crisp and delicious and it would just be the mo

QuoteI used to sweat more when i ate cooked. how much cooked do you eat? internet search shows diabetes or thyroid issues for excessive sweating but that may be more for whole body sweating I do eat a couple meals a week that include cooked grains or veg. No super junk food (highly processed/refined/additive-laden) or animal products of any kind. It is no longer a significant portion

Possibly a bit TMI but I have always sweated a lot under my arms (even when it's freezing cold out). I have never really been able to figure out what causes such a thing (nutritional deficiency or maybe bad genetics)? I certainly wouldn't waste the money to see a doctor over something so trivial. I also haven't worn deodorant/antipirspirent in years (I gave up ALL "body" and "beaut

I've actually never owned a blow dryer. I let it air-dry (which is somewhat of a pain in the winter up here in Oregon lol). I used to used boars bristle brushes, but actually find the "newer" kind with the plastic "spikes" that have a ball on the end work better on my hair. My hair is pin-straight naturally though, so I don't have to fight waves or curls. Curious how often

I have somewhere between "course" and "fine" hair, but like SueZ, it's waist-legnth, so naturally tangles happen I have been washing my hair in dark beer since childhood (my mom is an old hippie, so that's what she taught me), which has always kept my hair soft and easy to brush. I only wash my hair twice a week, which also helps keep it from tangling (the natural oils and the

I wouldn't have the time or money to attend a retreat so I haven't looked into any, but since you're open to suggestions, have you looked into any local raw vegan groups on meetup.com? Houston is big enough, I'm sure you have to have some raw vegan groups nearby! If I wasn't so scared of meeting new people, I think that kind of thing could be fun and helpful to have local support/like minded peop

I have only been eating raw for about 8 months, and personally find I feel better when I eat a couple avocados (in a week, not every day!). I've also been sprouting seeds for fats and protein. Do you sprout at all? One other thing I forgot to ask (can be a rhetorical question), if you're a woman, could the bloating and GI issues have anything to do with eating those foods and your cycle?

What a load of crap that quiz is. Filled with vague questions geared towards condemning those not on the SAD and to make those who opt not to eat junk seem mentally ill.

I think some people will slap a negative label on anything they feel diverges from how they opt to eat, especially if it makes them insecure in their own decisions regarding food. Choosing a healthy diet is not a disease. Opting to only put foods found in nature (in their still-natural forms) in your body is not a disease. Making the decision NOT to consume man-made food additives/chemicals and G

This whole situation seems like a whole lot of unnecessary drama being played up for the sake of drama. People being overbearing/unnecessarily aggressive and others being way overly sensitive to gain youtube views and free publicity. Meanwhile, there is helpful, constructive and interesting videos being posted by other raw foodists that you can actually gain something from watching. Who want

I actually do have a soy milk maker. It heats up though and I don't think there is a setting on it to make raw milks (it's a Joyoung). I do still use it, just not as much as I used to. I make my sprout milks in the blender. I have a stainless tofu press too. I've been experimenting trying to make raw "meat" substitutes using the press and dehydrator, but have yet to hit upon a good one

Yes. I have an exercise bike (being I failed to ever learn to ride a real one) I'm on 10-45 minutes a day, I do sit ups, squats and go for daily walks on the trails around where I live. I am generally active. I don't care to have an outrageously "sculpted" body or anything, just generally want to be fit and active. I did buy a home yoga DVD a few months ago, just haven't yet watched it.

I do make soy milk, but lately have been doing raw 'sprout milks' instead to include more sprouts in my diet. I never learned how to make meat substitutes with soy, but did learn to make a reasonably good substitute using vital wheat gluten and flour. I'd be interested in learning how to make tofu though, especially as my omni husband continues to eat a more and more plant based diet. I do think

I am 'comfortable' at this time in my life at about 80-90% raw foods, and do occasionally have a cooked meal. Beyond meat is good, but I prefer Gardein. I was an ova-lacto vegetarian for 16 years before going mostly raw. Soy meat replacements never made me want to eat real meat (then again, I went veg for ethical reasons). I loaded up on the faux soy products for about the first year I was a vegg

I give my parrot most fruits with skin on for the mental stimulation as it is a NATURAL behavior for him to peel the inedible skin to get to the flesh of the fruit inside. Many animals in nature do the same, including fellow primates. As peeling fruits is a perfectly natural thing for a fruit-eating animal to do, I see no reason not to as a human. As a side note, I don't typically bother to p

As you can see by the nutritional facts, your semen only contains "trace amounts" of vitamin B12: In fact, it's not very nutritious at all. While beneficial to you in regards to how good of a mood your in the rest of the day, it is probably not (nutritionally) beneficial to your wife. She also needs to save her mouth muscles for chewing all that fruit and veg (unless you'd like h
