Haha, yeah the chocolatey smell is something else allright! Brings back memories of watching Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory as a kid, and wishing I got to be Augustus Gloop in a chocolate waterfall! Maybe Shazzie and David Wolfe can make that their next project- a raw cacao waterfall

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I work from home so I don't have much of an excuse I'm just not very good at restraining myself round junky comfort garbage! I encounter a problem with my work and BAM! I need some junk to distract me! On the plus side- I did an hour and half of exercise earlier, my lunch was salad, celery, cucumber and some sweet potato (which was cooked, but it helped fill m

.. I just can't stop doing it. My head says 'eat raw! stay hydrated!' etc, but I am practically on auto-pilot the moment I get stressed and reach for the junkfood. Even as I'm eating it, my head is saying 'this is so unhealthy!' but at the same time I'm thinking 'it's not the end of the world. finish the cupcake. be healthy tomorrow'. It's starting to get really bad. Part of the problem is my

I recently started using an organic shampoo and conditioner, that felt very moisturising when I was using it but has given me hard dry skin around my temples and parting I'm pretty sure the sodium benzoate did it. Grrr.

Snakes and toads! You guys must feel like Indiana Jones every time you go into your garden The only terror in my garden right now is my little ginger cat, who is trying to chew up every thing that moves- from birds to tiny flies! He knocked some seedlings off of my table onto the floor too. Waaah! I bought a load of heirloom seeds and look forward to doing some more planting this weekend-

Hello Naikar, I'm a vegan with a vegetarian boyfriend. We don't have any kids at the moment, but if/when the time comes, I imagine there will be some conflict. i.e. Obviously, I would want to raise any future children as vegans/vegetarian. I wouldn't make non-vegetarian food for them at home, but if they wanted to eat different food away from home, I would be okay with that. I'd just make

Because of all the sun, I spent most of the weekend in the garden, setting up my herb garden and strawberry planters etc. Even though you get the odd bad back from crouching over, it has to be one of the most calming, stress-relieving activities ever. There's something about handling soil, standing bare-foot in grass and handling seedlings that feels so peaceful and rewarding. When I was a ki

Have you tried a weekend of water or juice fasting? Bathing only with water (no soaps etc) and eliminating all possible sources of toxins (detergent, perfumes etc). Could also try changing your bed linen in case of a mite allergy. Allergies suck

I've just discovered these. These are awesome- and taste like a cross between a banana and a lychee. The texture is like lychee/rambutan without the stickyness! I love finding funny new fruits

I've been going mad on the pecans lately (pecan mylks etc) and my skin looks better than it's been for ages! My skin tone is more even, barely any pimples and the texture is firm and youthful. I guess I've been zinc-deficient for a long time, maybe even always! My hair is also very shiny and healthy. And I have a.. uh, stronger sex drive too! I'd always thought I was zinc-deficient, and this h

I have a mosaic plantar wart on my foot (which I'm currently treating with ACV- seems to be going really well!). I've read that boosting the immune system can help the body in this type of situation. Can anyone recommend specific foods/natural remedies/activities that will help? I'm assuming colourful fruits (like blackberries, blueberries etc) and veg (broccoli) will help me- any ideas?

Hi Brian- they still have their pits- good idea about asking the distrib.- I'll see if I can find their details from the supermarket as they are badged as the supermarket's 'own'. Thanks! bananawho- if you buy deglet nour dates in those cute little plastic boxes, they're often coated with a few things to make them shinier and sweetener (I've seen sucrose used quite a lot). The dates I have loo

I bought a box of these from the supermarket. They're organic, still on the branch and don't have that waxy covering the definitely non-raw deglet nour dates have. I heard it's really hard to find raw deglet nour dates, so I'm a little dubious. Is it safe to assume these are raw, or are all deglet nour dates heated in some way?

Thanks for that Tamukha I find it interesting bananas are on the ok-for-non-organic list. Organic bananas have such a different texture and taste to non-organic, it makes me question the skin's ability to protect the fruit from pesticides...

As eating organic can be expensive, maybe it's worth getting one of those lists of fruit and veg with the highest pesticides so you know which ones to always avoid?

The only seaweed I get regularly is the tiny amounts in my seaweed sea salt. I would like to eat seaweed more but it's pretty expensive and I found it started to ruin my salads with its gumminess!

Hmm. I don't mind agave in small amounts. For me personally, it has a healthier taste than maple syrups, cane sugar and honey (boy, it's been a long time!), too much of it does set off a little alarm in my sensitive teeth, but then, many sweet foods do. Every now and again there will be a shock article like this one, like the ones about cacao and the many about non raw nuts and garlic etc. I t

Yes, the symptoms are pretty varied starting with a light nettle-type rash (hives) to extreme (hives covering entire body) to swollen lips-then swollen eyes- then swollen throat. I've also had a massive pain in my jaw that goes down my neck/back and shoulders. Years ago, that pain would be so bad I would have lay down immediately. Once, I had to lay on a low wall outside a shopping centre because

I have this. I'm self-diagnosed, but my (new) doctor agrees with me after an anaphalactic shock incident. The worst things I can put in my body (aside from aspirin) are e-numbers such as preservatives, so being raw automatically cuts out the worst culprits. When I was young I went for a 30-day allergy test (results showed I reacted to some allergens, but also some placebos. The test wasn't co

Thanks for the replies everyone In the end, I screwed up and accidently let them sprout too long. They smelt a bit funky too, so on my next go, I'm going to just do it long enough for the slight tail and take more care to make sure there isn't excess water in the germinator. I took the shell off one a few days in, and it tasted okay, but I can't imagine sitting there and shelling them! So I g
