I've been sprouting hemp seeds and have a few questions... 1) Someone told me it's illegal (I'm in the UK), which doesn't seem right. Sprouted hemp just looks and tastes like shelled hemp seeds- which you can buy in many shops- with tails on the end. No strange effects 2) How long should the tails be? 3) What's the easiest way to separate the seed from the shell? This also goes for s

^ Maybe not completely, but when you have a bad diet, making small, significant changes helps.

When I was in Norway me and my boyf. snowshoe-ed across a frozen river and our guide had us drinking water from a crack in the ice. It was the cleanest, freshest water I have ever tasted and was a pleasure to drink, whereas even ice-cold filtered water can sometimes have an 'ughh' taste to it.

Fizzy water and lemon has always been my coke replacement drink I find it refreshing, but what puts me off drinking it is how it tastes when the bottle has been open a few days. It tastes funky (in a bad way), like I'm not supposed to be drinking it. How much of the stuff you drink?

I love dragon fruit! I admit the taste isn't quite exotic mangosteen deliciousness, but they still have a lovely, fresh slightly fragrant taste. I've had the white flesh and the purple flesh varieties, couldn't notice a difference though I think I do prefer the white flesh for some unknown reason. The purple flesh one was more expensive despite being smaller- about £2.49 or £2.99. Ouch. I th

Fitday and Nutrition Data have pretty limited info on sprouts- is there a better website to find out nutrition info on a larger variety? i.e. broccoli, hemp, sunflower seeds? Thanks

sweet potato! never thought of that before... will have to try it the first time I tried a galia melon smoothie, it made me think of McDonalds banana thickshakes. When I tried one with added banana, it tasted less like those shakes! It's funny, because it's specifically the galia melon, not the honeydew that makes my tastebuds react that way!

Thanks for the replies, guys! I will give the skin a try! I have a small fig tree that bore some fruit last summer (it was a stick when I bought it!) but I missed out as I was in the process of moving and I'd left it at my dad's house. This year, I'm going to keep an eye on it and hopefully there will be more fruit! I'm going to keep it in a mini greenhouse- if there's only a few figs on it

135. Fig Skin!
Do you eat the skin on a fig? How nutritious is the skin on a fig? I've always peeled my figs, as the skin always looks like it tastes furry! But if there are any arguments for eating the skin, I'd like to hear them

Hey Ryan, I have something similar to you too. I feel your pain! Are you self-diagnosed? I have salicylate sensitivity (which incl. anaphalactic shock from aspirin & paracetamol). Unripe fruits have high levels of salicylate, whereas nice ripe fruits aren't a problem, so the 'allergy' isn't as black and white as it seems. Importantly, working out what food you're actually sensitive

I've been watching some videos of her, and she is such a fantastic talker (love her accent too!) and so inspirational. I could be wrong, but it seems like she's not around much anymore? Does anyone know if she still does talks/goes to events or anything?

I think some people's bone structure can carry off being slim better than others. My dad's side of the family look very gaunt when they're slim, and look 'healthier' carrying more weight. When I used to be a fitness freak, if someone suggested I looked sick and needed to put on more weight to be attractive, I would have been offended. I remember some overweight guy making some cheeky

There used to be an farmers city market store near where I used to work. At that time, I was going raw for the 2nd time and I got to try things for the 1st time that I'd never had before- fresh figs, goatsbeard (had to cook that, but I'd never seen it before in my life!), unwaxed fruit, Lara Bars, russet apples, kumquats and unusual cold-pressed oils etc. But it was painfully expensive- £2 for a

I had to get the Hepatitis A/B and Typhoid jabs for a trip I'm going on. I had a really bad headache on the first day, and severe belly cramps for a couple of days after. What's the best way of recovering? Fasts? Juicing? I'm not the healthiest person in the world so probably wouldn't fast for more than a day or so... Thanks

Great idea- wearing your lunch on your head It'd be fun to do that and go somewhere like Trafalgar Square in London where the pigeons are tame enough to land on you if they think you have food "There's a pigeon eating my hair!...." Remember those candy bracelets everyone wore in the late 80s/early 90s? Maybe they should make a raw version of that too! Little chunks of carrot and cou

That's shocking!!! Not sure what country you're from, but a lot of vegetarian organisations will post you leaflets/flyers geared towards veggie-based nutrition (prob. not raw, but balanced-vegan diets), or you could print off PDFs and hand out to the parents. i.e. viva.org.uk have stuff available for download like this: My mum and dad used to make a packed lunch for me when I was a kid

I want to lose some weight so am about to embark on a pretty strict mostly raw balanced diet (if I have cooked food it will be steamed rice & veg). I'm a little worried about getting stretch marks and excess skin- can I take precautions against these? i.e. any specific type of nutrition- high protein etc. Is there any exercise that will help- yoga, pilates, weights or any exercise I should

eaglefly- i guess we all feel like that at some point. It's hard to keep staying put together, and only to then get knocked back by something and feeling discomfort/rage/rejection again. IMHO, sometimes the worst thing to do is to 'think' too much. Stop thinking about the negative big picture, and do something fun, just for yourself. We can do garbage disposal in our sleep. There's a book
