I don't think I've ever eaten a properly-raw cashew! Does it taste any different to non-roasted plain cashews?

I like brazil nuts but can only eat a few at a time. Walnuts too- I don't mind them in very small amounts but eating a large amount leaves a yucky metallicy vitamin-y taste in my mouth (same happened when I ate too many pumpkin seeds once- I struggle to eat them now without feeling nauseous, having to have them in a seed mix to make sure I get enough zinc). I don't get any stomach problems, it's

I've just bought a jar of Nature's Living Superfood and ground linseed. I also like spirulina and barley juice powder and always see benefits from them (though I'm too poor for them at the moment, LOL) My boyfs. mouth ulcers seem to diminish when having barley juice powder regularly. I've tried e3live, can't remember if it changed my life or not, though my purse was strangely empty afterwards!

I used to have a big bag of cacao powder and used to use it for chocolate mylks etc. I started to go overboard with the amount and even though it tasted ok, i didn't feel so good afterwards. The way I feel right now, if I had the time and the ingredients, my sweet tooth would have me making a chocolate mylk for breakfast everyday... Though sweet tooths aren't always to be trusted

A balanced diet is more important than 100% raw, IMHO. Combining the two would be a nice goal, but if being 100% raw is stressful, expensive and disruptive, then it's going to be hard to maintain. For me, it's baby steps

I was going through my stuff to work out things to take to the charity shop, and I found this book 'Feasting on raw Foods' by Charles Gerras. It's raw vegetarian (mostly raw vegan recipes but some with cheese). If anyone wants it, I'll post it to them (UK only). PM me

What toxic toiletries/cleaning products/medications etc have you cut out and/or replaced to help the raw diet work better for your wellbeing? My scalp got extremely dry over xmas (wore a hat most days!), so I upped my seed intake this week and used hemp oil to massage my scalp followed by an ACV rinse instead of shampoo/conditioner. The problem is now under control I stopped using my fancy

I liked this quote from Shazzie: "I have spoken to many of the raw foodists who are turning to animal products, and the general consensus is they never had vegan ethics before going into raw food, it’s just that some people were shouting so loud about raw veganism that it appealed to their ideals of purification and detoxification at the time." Vegans who go vegan via the ethica

I'm still struggling to get back to raw after my mad xmas sweetie binge :-D For the last few days, I have been drinking a LOT of water. Initially, I made sure I was drinking 8 glasses a day, but the more water I drank, the more thirsty I came- yet the less I wanted to drink more water (might have been another wave of caffeine withdrawal). Yesterday, I drank more water than usual- everytime I f

I love coriander (uk name for cilantro!)!! I could easily eat that in place of lettuce in a salad, in fact, it'd be nicer! On the brain training game on the nintendo ds, the professor host character used to gag at the thought of cilantro. Ha ha.

Okay, over xmas I stuffed myself silly with (vegan) sweets and stuff and am now clawing my way back to a healthy diet. There is a bag of onion rings (crisps) in the kitchen that I am trying to restrain myself from eating. They don't have MSG in them, so aren't especially bad as far as crisps go, but man, they are calling to me the same way caffeine does! It might be purely psychological, as

I recently started watching this vampire TV show 'True Blood'. In it, there's a raw vegan who's addicted to drinking vampire's blood (which acts like a drug to humans in the show), and she says how eating pure foods etc makes her 'feel' more, closer to nature etc. Personally, I can't see how drinking any kind of blood allows her to keep her vegan status, but nevermind! Whenever vegans are i

The walnuts would be the weak link IMHO. Maybe coconut water instead of the water, and add some celery & carrot juice to make it taste more savoury/'soupy'. I like using a drizzle of oil rather than a large amount. Less is... more

Isn't that going to be really tough? What if in three days time you're sick of eating greens? Might make staying raw hard to stick to? Limiting your diet isn't the best way to stay in shape. Is there a way you can compromise by upping the fruit percentage but do a little extra walking to/from work? That aside, Green juice is good for an energy burst in the morning

I'm confused why they would be toxic anyway!? I juice them a lot- to no ill effect! This 'toxic' stuff is getting a bit out of hand. The focus comes away from fresh food and everyone is left doubting their own common sense.

In the past I've used vegan soy lecithin (it was recommended in a book I read about liver detox). I was under the impression that lecithin should be used as a temporary supplement, aimed more at people with unhealthy transfat diets. For the record, the soy lecithin grains don't seem to taste so bad at first but in time my tastebuds rebelled! Yuck.

I'm sure someone has a better answer, but holding a lit tealight under a container (i.e. saucepan of water) is a very quick way of warming it without getting it too hot.
