Take grapefruitseed extract oil with you. (hope it's still allowed on the plane). Make sure you clean your fruit (or veggies) with it before eating them. Just rub a little on your food and you should be good to go. You can also put some bottled water in a bowl, put a few drops of it in there and soak your raw foods. It is anti-viral and anti-fungal. If by chance, you do develop stomach upset

how about if he just starts eating raw with your guidance? take it slowly and gradually increase raw foods. sounds like both of you are already doing this to me. the only other suggestion i have is maybe preparing gourmet raw for him to begin as a transition may help -- and also to get creative with yummy juice and green smoothies. lots of filling foods like bananas etc. this worked for a frie

Divorce him and free both him and yourself. Your "intuition" never lies. It's an extremely painful process, but don't do what I did and hang in there for nine years. My intuition told me six months into the marriage we were not meant to be together, but denial is a strong emotion as well. I hope you find peace...you deserve it. Regarding counselors...there are also very conscious

Trader it takes alot of strength to be where you are right now...I already see you successfully transitioning. I hope you feel the same. :-D Best wishes to you! My advice is to research, research, research, find motivation in other people's success stories and take it one day at a time. And if you do slip, don't beat yourself up...just dust yourself off and begin again. I recommend rea

I agree with EZ rider. Just eat raw foods and don't accelerate the process by fasting. Don't be afraid of detox, you may not even experience it. Some people do not. My own was pretty mild...just a lot of runny noses and mucus coming out of my chest for weeks on end, fatigue and my skin breaking out. Then it stopped and life has been pretty good since. :-) Walk through your fear, eat raw

I stay away from that stuff because of the sodium content. My body treats it as salt. I don't use namu shoya in recipes anymore either. Can't handle it.

I spend between $30-40 on organic produce per week. On a good week I can get it down to $25. I look for marked down items at my food co-op, go to the farmer's markets on the weekends, and I'm sometimes delightfully surprised to find organic produce at Costco for a good price. They usually have fruits in bulk that I can freeze for smoothies and stuff like that. I've been eating organic for 12 y

My friends are wonderful too and we take turns going to vegetarian, traditional and raw restaurants. Lately we've been driving into the Bay Area to go to Cafe Gratitude which they love. The cuisine is a little too heavy for me now, but at least I can eat the food! When we go to other places, I just order a salad. I tend to not sweat if it's organic or not. Took me awhile to let that go!

Lillian, I'm not sure I'm following you. Do you mean SAD folks use more of their carbs/energy stores to produce the digestive juices? How I was interpreting this from this little blurb is if you're a raw foodist, you experience better digestion and produce less unnecessary fluid. And less digestive juices means better absorption of nutrients (that generally digest themselves) and provide more e

= less swimming in your own digestive juices. :-D Found this on another forum...interesting tidbit. "According to the book, Sacred Wisdom of the Human Body, when the body is programmed to cooked foods, two gallons of digestive juices per day are pumped into the system. When the body is programmed to be a raw food eater, it is only one cup per day. That means if you eat three cooked mea

I'm a recovering TV holic. When I was a kid, I would outline every program I would watch for the entire week in the TV Guide. I would actually circle all of the programs from the time I got home from school to when I went to bed. Weekends were a bonanza because I was allowed to stay up late - sometimes I wouldn't go to bed until 2am. I haven't watched TV for 4 years. I haven't owned a televi

If you have access to an indigo child/teenager ask them directly what is important to them and take their pulse on how they view life in general. They are generally extremely bright and aware...smarter than we were back in the day. I spoke to a group of teens ranging in age from 14-17 at a community center last summer. Many were already aware of raw veganism to some degree. I'm in California,

I look really young for my age and I'm kind of happy I have a few white silver hairs growing in - I've counted 5 on top of my head. But maybe people just think I'm prematurely gray now...lol. I always admired how my relatives looked very regal with their head full of shiny white silver hair in contrast to their brown skin. It will be interesting to see if eating raw foods eliminates my white h

yes, yes and yes. there are many foods that aren't appealing to me right now that i used to eat all of the time and others that i couldn't stand that i can't get enough of also. lately i'm eating tons of non-sweet fruits -- they taste like heaven to me. but just a short while ago i was having a sweet fruit juice/smoothie fest. sweet fruits aren't doing anything for me right now. i thin

Nik, I too experience feeling very light in my body and euphoric when juice or water fasting. I believe I also get into a more spiritual state and I generally also experience tremendous mental clarity. If I stay high raw after fasting, yes I do continue to feel quite clear and focused, but it's never on the same level as when I was fasting. As was mentioned above I believe the "euphoric&q

hey roadrunner, your plan sounds like a good one. i completed long master cleanses, 30 & 40 days and a 9 day water fast during the past few months. it was after my 3rd MC that i went 100% raw. i tried the liver cleanse once and it was not a pleasant experience. i'm not so sure it worked very well or that i did it correctly. i only released a few tiny green pebbles. i'm actually not incli

I have the same thought as rawfrancois. Why eliminate what's working for you? If you're concerned about eating "too much fat" than maybe have 1-2 tbs of raw coconut oil and see how that works? I have gone through various stages in my year and half raw. When I first started I was eating up to 5 avocados a day, not including nuts, seeds etc. There is no way I could or would want to ea

hey flygirl, i just googled this info recently. it will help explain the benefits of sprouting. it's not a must in the raw vegan diet, but i find personally they add punch and flavor to my dishes, eating them solo or combining them with salads, etc. they are nutrient dense living foods. :-) hope this helps and take care. another cool link - one of the best for purchasing seeds and obt

Well, hmmm, I guess no one has any experience with this???? Hey Garrett, I'm new to sprouting as well. Since I posted this I eliminated the buckwheat groat sprouts from my diet and the symptoms "disappeared". I don't think I can tolerate grains or perhaps just buckwheat groats. I'll try quinoa and go down the line. I've been sprouting alfalfa seeds, sunflower seeds and mung bea
