It is startling to me how similar the raw diet is to a spiritual practice. -mindfullness of what I'm putting in my mouth (discipline, not giving in to craving) -the vegan ethic of not using animal products, being more aware of how connected we are with all the other species on this planet -the rewards of reaching heightened states of health which are not attainable on a cooked food diet

Boutenko's book 'Green for Life' led me to the raw diet - and I am grateful to her. The cover of Green for Life is perfect too. She gets the message accross whether or not you agree that chimps have to eat meat. Bonobo monkeys, gorrillas, cows, elephants, horses etc and don't eat meat and grow their muscle from the protein in greens. Her info about the amount of fibre they consume I think

Thank you guys for the compliment! Tori, the wheatgrass juice I found at a store in bloor west village, north side right near the library east of runnymede, don't know the name, it's right across from NO Frills. Vitality? I think. they have cheap Larabars only 1.69. But never mind that while you're on the juice. It's in a 7 pack, in the fridge in small bottles with no air in them, I don't

A dear friend of mine recently discovered that he has adult attention deficit disorder and now knows the main reason his life keeps meandering all over the place. He is trying everything - in his highly focused way - including 12 step programs, hypnotism, meditation and more. He is on at least one medication and is hoping to find the right drug to get him to the point where he can hold down a

I've bought it a the pet food store there's one brand called Urban Wolf that provides it frozen. Store bought tripe is bleached and doesn't have all the good nutritious stuff in it.

I've read in past posts the rule of thumb is "would you eat it raw if you came upon it in the wild"? and I found that rule helpful for garlic other strongly flavoured spices etc as well. I still use a small amount in some dressings, still transitioning but can see the day where I won't want it.

A dentisit I had many years ago said leave them in if they're not bothering you, they can come in handy in later life in case you lose others. I have two wisdom teeth left, one top and one bottom. They help me chew better though my bottom teeth are a little crowded. All in all am glad now I didn't have them removed.

One book that comes highly recommended by sucessful raw fooders is Dr Graham's 80/10/10 diet. The first thing I had to overcome was my ideas about getting "enough" protein. Then you may experience some detox symptoms, headches, dizziness, rashes depending on how much recyling of toxic cells etc your body needs to do. A lot of the rest will come from your own experiences as y

Miaculpa, Been transitioning to raw for about 6 months now and just wanted to say to you I think this way of eating would be very hard to do cold turkey. It's hard to change habits of a lifetime, I read we are addicted to what we eat and ingest, the good news is that fact works in your favour eventually, I enjoy fruit and greens more than ever now and can't eat as nearly much fat. Hating m

Hey Tori, Am looking at cleanses too, have had colonics done a couple of times by a woman, did an enema once myself, and may begin again as I start some cleansing to hasten the healing of my shoulder, it's locked and - oh never mind it's awful. Anyway the colonics were OK, but I do I remember literally feeling "clean" after I did a green coffee enema but it made a mess! Gave m

I find peoples concern over my eating raw not much fun. I've lost a fair bit of weight and everyone talks to me like I might have an eating disorder. Sigh! I always have and still do eat hearty. Will show them all one day lol! Am reading The China Study. There it is, all the iron clad scientific proof in the world that animal protein is the root of all our health evils and no one I know se

Still have "frozen shoulder", it's supposed to last for a year or two. Am trying light cleansing to start, will keep reading. Read on curezone that sore shoulders and upper back could be helped by kidney cleansing. I believe a raw diet will work too but hope that maybe I can help things along by cleansing, will see.

Got that book too, (the detox mono diet) how frustrating to know there's healing for so many in such a simple way and so few know of it! I am going to try it too but Dr Vasey said of the two body types, the robust, warm person and the easily cold skinny person, grapes might not work as well because the cold types have trouble with more acidic fruits. I am the cold and skinny type but may t

This from "In reality, colonics can actually encourage the growth of bacteria in our colons. One of the primary functions of the colon is to reabsorb into the body much of the water that has been used in the digestive process. Removing water decreases the opportunity for bacterial growth, as bacteria need water to grow (like all living things). Colonics reintroduce water into an otherw

Morgens Eliasen (The Peeing Post) says that unbleached green tripe should be a staple in your dogs diet. He says that is what the wolves are eating first, not the stomach contents but the stomach itself. Gross but true apparently.

Eating raw has it's challenges in the beginning. Blending fruit and greens can give you some variety. The more you eat this way the more you will love the fruit and your body should start to guide you, at least that's what I've found. Also, look at the recipe section and see if anything appeals to you. There are tons of recipes. Today I will try ripe papya slices drizzeled with orange/avaca

Been transitioning for about 6 months. For me not running out of my staples is key. Not having ripe bananas or a pile of oranges or celery/greens leaves me vulnerable to eating cooked stuff and using too much fat or salt. The most time consuming food prep time for me is spent on smoothies, relatively quick, about 5 mins at most. Eating/drinking the smoothie takes time though. All other foo

I'm using a lot less of my expensive Natures Best Greens as I transition (it's been 6 months) but will use them up but not get them again. I take a B12 supplement still. I am thinking of trying E3Live but I'm a sucker for what looks like a good supplement.

I heard a plastic surgeon say that dark circles are caused by fat which accumulates around our eyes and is what they remove when you "have your eyes done". I have dark circles, especially my left eye, I always ate lots of fat on SAD because I never gained weight but there is noticeable improvement for me after 6 months on low fat raw for sure but some stuff just takes longer to heal

Sent you a private message, glad you're back and full of energy! (wanted to know if you want to sell your copy of 80/10/10). What juice fast are you following? In a pinch the organic meat market Bloosm Pure on Lakeshore before Cawthra carries some fruit and organic veggies etc, I like their prices.

Made them and they are excellent even without the chili powder. Couldn't find any fresh corn but got peaches and cream frozen. I did use too much flax seed though. Would make these again.

I am grateful that when I walked outside this a.m. it was mild and I did not have to steele myself against a chilly wind. I am grateful that I planted so many new bulbs in my gardern last fall, like presents to myself which will open over the next weeks.
