Adding to my post above -- I have found that finding the right diet for me is a good way to heal and a good way to move down the path toward optimum health. Using the above model of experimentation once a questionable dietary food item has been found to cause problems a way to confirm the fact that the food choice is indeed a problem food for me is to increase the amount of the food eaten as

When I am trying to heal from something I start with the idea that if I provide the conditions for good health then good health will result. I am an experimenter by nature so from this perspective this is how I would proceed: 1) Research and find information about my health challenge. 2) Use the information gathered as a starting point. 3) Start the experiment by eating the recommended di

Celtic Sea Salt is a brand of sea salt. One way to get salt for a salt shaker is to dehydrate at a low temperature a food that is high in organized salt like celery. Then put the dried celery or high sodium food through a coffee grinder or other tool to make it into a powder. The result will be a food powder that is high in natural plant salt.

There is a difference between salt that is part of a plant and salt that is not. The body recognizes plant (bio available) salt and digests it easily. The salt that is not plant chelated (inorganic) is not recognized or utilized by the body and has to be dealt with as a toxin. Getting inorganic salt out of the body requires the body to detox and will have a detox experience. Plant chelated, b

You may not need a dehydrator. I find that the simpler I do raw the better it works.

A skill that I think is helpful for a raw food eater to cultivate is listening to your body signals. At first you will have to purposefully tune in because most SAD (Standard American Diet) eaters don't pay much attention to what their bodies are signaling to them but with practice listening to your inner coach will become easy and natural. Start by listening for early slight hunger signals to re

QuoteIodine evaporates from the sea and comes to earth in the rain and dew. I'm not sure about that because evaporation is a distillation process and distilling water leaves the stuff in the water behind. Anyone have any thoughts or info about this ?

QuoteI wanted a vegan forum that helps me with recipes etc but I still don't want to eat processed foods, more like home-cooked pastas, soups, etc, lightly steamed veggies that kind of thing. I think cooking or not cooking is a basic difference in some vegan forums. It sounds like you are looking for a cooked vegan forum.

I like to keep my eating plan as simple as possible. I eat my meals when I am slightly hungry and then only eat until I am in the comfort zone. Then I listen to my body to let me know when its ready, willing and able to digest more food. My body will let me know when its ready by sending me another slight hunger signal. I don't pay attention to the clock, sun or moon position or Pavlov's dog bell

I have heard that the "eyes" in potatoes are not good to eat. Also the leaves of the tomato plant are not supposed to be good either.

Possibly a diet adjustment might help. Continue juicing veggies and greens and eat the fruit "as is" in its whole form. This will slow down the absorption of the fruit and at the same time will increase the amount of fiber in her diet which will help eliminate toxins. Good luck.

Mislu -- I believe that nutrients need to become a part of a plant as a go between from the ground to the animal in order for the body to be able to recognize, absorb and utilize the nutrient. If it weren't that way we could eat dirt as our food. Wheatgrass Yogi -- I start new seeds and harvest greens daily from shallow trays with about one inch of dirt as a growing medium. I fertilize by addi

I have a poster on my kitchen wall from the American Cancer Society titled "Cancer Reduce Your Risk". The poster is a collection of pictures of 30 fresh raw fruits and vegetables. In spite of the fact that Doctors don't receive much training in nutrition I think this poster is an acknowledgment of a basic health principal about what a person eats and their health. I think all to often s

Instead of trying to make raw foods be like cooked foods with recipes that taste like cooked food dishes try breaking out of the box and enjoy the tastes of fresh raw foods "as is". Give it a try and you might be surprised how good fresh raw foods taste.

Possibly it is because of the fiber. Fresh fruit like avocado has a very soft and malleable fiber that cleans the toxins out of the body. Possibly the juice isn't providing enough of the fiber needed. Possibly eat some fruit meals and do the juicing meals too. Another experiment to try would be to do a smoothie fast because there will still be plenty of fiber that way. Good luck.

I think enzymes survive the digestion process the same as raw food nutrients do and can be absorbed in the intestines the same as raw food nutrients are absorbed.

When I started eating raw I found that I preferred eating fresh whole foods raw and didn't care for recipes and gourmet. I liked avocados a lot and I used to eat up to 6 in a day sometimes. My tastes gradually changed and now i only eat an occasional avo. Listen to your body for whats best for you at any given time and have fun along the way. Good luck.

Also, I am watchful and sensitive to the first slightly hungry signal that I can detect. When I ignore that first weak hunger signal and move to the stronger hunger signals I tend to want foods other then fruit. If I ignore the hunger signals until I get very hungry I can get cravings for all manner of foods.

Quote I am getting very, very hungry eating only a green juice and fruit in the morning I eat a diet of green juice and fruit and I have found that having more meals works for me. Its kind of like the grazing approach except that I eat until I feel satisfied. I don't eat more then it takes to feel satisfied but enough to feel comfortable. The result is that I don't constantly eat like the graz

I do very well on a diet that consists of 4 ounces of FRESH made Wheat Grass juice for breakfast and the rest of my day I graze on mono meals of FRESH fruit. The WG juice provides a good profile of minerals & nutrients and the fruit provides fuel to burn. I ride a bicycle many miles per week as my preferred method of transportation. Good luck,
