I hadn't heard of them. I'm impressed with this product. I have to try the Aminos since I gave up soy. Thanks for the question/suggestion. Therese

How about Buckwheat, Corn, Dehydrated raw onion bread? When I was 100% raw and needed starch, like bread, I would do the buckwheat or corn. I currently am eating some cooked so I don't have the starch cravings as much. I cannot do too much carrot juice b/c it's too sweet. Good luck! Therese

Castor Oil will clean you out. Blessed Herbs is supposed to be great for a bowel cleanse. You can also drink Senna Leaf tea. I think the stool change is due to the beans. Whenever I eat cooked beans, the stools are harder. Therese

Ignore the cooking advice. Rome used to be my favorite apple before I discovered Empire apples. Happy eating! Therese

clank, I agree with what most everyone advises above. Realize that raw vegan is about food choices and optimal health and it is a discovery process. Find out what others suggest, test, and find out if it works for you. When I first went into raw veganism, I went 100% and found my health deteriorating very quickly. I wasn't getting the nutrients needed to sustain my body. Sure I had lost weight

I've eaten raw egg plant but don't really like the sponginess. I have used frozen raw eggplant for a pseudo raw baba gnoush. Wasn't really that impressed with it as I prefer hummus.

100. Re: dates
I got some incredible Medjools at the Indian food place and they were from Israel. There were so hearty that they almost had a smokey flavor to them. They were super expensive relatively speaking, either. The other dates I purchased were from Jaffe Bros. Their Honey Dates were really sweet. The dates are so wet that there is juice in the bag.

Sat, Drink a mixture of food grade Diotamatious earth in a large glass of water and it will eliminate your gout. Gout is caused by a diet that is too acidic, esp animal proteins. My friend who is SAD (Standard American Diet) and a heavy meat eater had Gout and did the DE and is over it even while eating SAD. This isn't to say that one should continue to eat such an acidic diet but to show you ho

My vision almost went back to 20/20 such that I passed the driver's vision test without glasses/contacts. Too bad I didn't stick it out to 100% raw vegan as my vision got a little worse after incorporating some vegan cooked back to the diet and I use my glasses again for distance. However, my vision is overall better than before raw even though I use glasses for distance about half of the time,

JC, To clarify, I used the facilities when I first got up but didn't go again prior to leaving. Yes, that would be difficult to get dressed in the morning and not use the facilities. I did drive about an hour to the testing station and by the time I arrived, I had to be patient until I needed to provide a sample. Wish you better results next time.

I recently took a drug test for a job. I knew that I shouldn't use the facilities before leaving home from past experience. I didn't drink any liquids prior to the test either. The urine was quite dark which scared me but I guess everything was alright. I am gainfully employed so I passed. While I'm not 100% raw vegan as I eat some cooked vegan in terms of veggies and beans, I don't think th

Congrats on finding something you like. This is a tough one for me. I don't want to use stainless b/c it leaches nickel and I don't want to use plastic b/c it may have BPA. I don't know if the non-BPA is that safe, either. Glass breaks but it doesn't leach and it is heavy. Wish there were a better way.

I saw organic Chocolate Basil at the Health Food store. It smelled delicious but I wanted to check out the plant before buying something that might harm me. I gave up chocolate when I had to live through the negative effects on my body, e.g. nervousness, jittery, frequent urination, unable to relax, etc. Good to know that Cinnamon Basil isn't heirloom. It's likely that the Chocolate Basil is

That part on the tomato was freaking me out. I eat alot of non-organic tomatoes. According to the 60 Minutes transcript below. The tomatoes in the store don't have the fish gene unless they've gone ahead with the insidious plan after the story aired. "The tomatoes were grown but never sold." The white is fungus on the tomato. The tomatoes will mold if too old. This is simil

Rob, I think of my health for the most part when I buy food. Everything I put into my cart gets muscle-tested in the store. On Sunday, I went into the national park and foraged. I picked about 3 cups of dandelion leaves and about 3/4 cup of violets. So, you don't always have to go to the store to obtain food. I also bought a small organic basil plant on Saturday which I put next to my bedro

Hi MJ, I've done 10 day water fasts and more. I have done it as long as 12 days. My friend did 41 days. When I fasted, I collected all sorts of recipes and such. I also got a lot of junk reading done as I didn't have much energy. That's great that you have so much energy. That must mean that you aren't very encumbered. In my opinion, if this is your first fast, go with 10 days and then

Do Sassafras root tea. I've seen the complexions of teenagers to adults who drank this in their youth and they have beautiful complexion and never had acne. Wish I knew about it back then. I will buy some in the near future as I still have acne as an adult. Good luck. Therese

Dragon fruit is just a cacti fruit. If you ever get cacti fruit from a cactus that has been ripened naturally, it is quite refreshing and light. I tasted some prickly pear fruit from a local OH store and it was totally disappointing compared to the cacti fruit I picked in AZ.

Hi Ryan, A great book on pH is "The pH Miracle Diet" by Robert Young. Also great is the "Mucusless Diet Healing System" by Arnold Ehret. While neither is totally raw, they both address acidity and pH. There are only two points that I disagree with Dr. Young on, he eschews all sweet fruits and embraces soy. I believe that sweet fruit is beneficial but stay away from what cau

Welcome Rab, I don't have the ideal answer for you regarding weight. Many eat low fat and they maintain their weight that way along with physical activity. I don't eat 10% or less of fat per day so I'm not at an ideal weight, though I'm not overly fat either. What I can say is that I've been noticing that those that are in shape as a raw foodist do many of the same things as SAD (Standard Americ

Eric, Gray is molding and getting rancid. I use filtered water to sprout. After rinsing well, I soak them overnight and then rinse twice a day, leaving the chick peas at room temperature. If the room is too warm, the chick peas will mold and will need to be thrown away. The chick peas are ready when they have a small tail. If the tails get too long, they start to turn to mush, too. Hope

Kaci, If they're puckering, they haven't rippened. They are super sweet with a hint of pungency that makes it unique. The Roma tomato-looking ones have to be soft before eating. The beefsteak-looking ones can be eaten without waiting. I love persimmons cut up and and I can eat 3-4 or more in one sitting.

Kaci, I use an oven on low with a pizza stone. The time is cut in half or by one third. It also depends on the thickness of the item being dehydrated. Just check the top of the item and when it is dry, you can flip it very carefully with a couple of spatulas. I usually put oil on my stone if the item is going to stick to it. I don't oil my pizza stone for dehydrated fruit like banana chips, e
