Yes. They are full of all kinds of vitamins and cofactors and got the Dutch through all those wars, etc. But if you don't like eating them, for whatever reason, don't.

That's just Yogi being Yogi, Paul! Alas, I agree with him, in that carelessness is maybe 90% of the cause of kitchen accidents, IMO. However, I think it was a good idea to post this. One should work as safely as possible in the kitchen, with safety being determined by an accurate assessment of one's skills; if you think you are going to need one of these gloves for a task, you will use it, f

la_veronique, The Vitamin Code companion book doesn't stipulate the form of B12, just describes how it's synthesized, which is similiar to how our guts would do it if we were able to. KidRaw, Bifidus bacteria are commonly found in mother's milk, or rather, mothers' milks, as they are necessary for immune development via the intestinal tract in all mammals. The statement at that website,

WY, A high volume of insoluble fiber matter will cause probelms for a commercial(rather than industrial, as restaurants have) garbage disposal. Also, many communities near waterways discourage or outlaw garbage disposal use because it has been found--depending on where the water empties into--to cause algae blooms, or other problems in wastewater treatment plants. Is there no garden center

la_veronique, In the companion book that came out with the Vitamin Code line, which I got with my first Vitamin Code purchase, it is explained that the fruits and vegetables are processed to generate B12. If you look at the label of a bottle of a popular veg iron/B12 supplement--Floradix--you see much the same ingredients. It's the same idea, but the Garden of Life company's process creates

Eh, he's not known for smarts, and his being famous and wealthy did not necessarily proceed from his having brains; Exhibit A: anyone featured on TMZ. So Kutcher prolly just rushed into this diet without any guidance, and suffered what sounds like gastric upset. Not, as his interviews elsewhere seem to suggest, a life-or-death struggle for the health of his pancreas, LOL. Alas, this will boost

luvyuu, In small amounts, as in baked goods, not known to be a problem. In large amounts, could cause problems for stomach acid production, and all the successive problems that would bring. I have never come across any logical argument for taking baking soda internally--that is, not as a food ingredient--for any disorder. There is some confusion about experimental alkali infusions as a ca

Michele, Only if one has a precondition and is consuming a large amount of goitrogens without iodine-rich foods. It's more complicated than that, but that's been my experience.

KidRaw, Triclosan, yes, it became ubiquitous when we weren't looking. Difficult to avoid therefore; thanks for the link listing things that contain it. Shocked at the range of items My sis-in-law has a background in textiles and recommends removing the bags from dry cleaned coats and disposing of them(I put mine immediately in the recycling bin in the garage) and then hanging the garment

raw_curious, The best way to get any medical dye out of your system is to drink lots of water and move around vigorously. Let the kidneys and lymph glands do their job. The contrasts aren't designed to linger, anyway.

michele, Sweet potatoes aren't that high in oxalates, not as compared to leafy greens, for example. I hold that these foods, because they are also very nutritious, are not the things to eliminate in the case of joint problems. Rather, the stuff that actually causes general unwellness is what should be eliminated: animal products, and possibly grains, depending on one's tolerance.

powerlifer, Vegetarianism changed my health for the better. My father was suspected of having had Wilson's Disease, so my brother and I were tested in childhood and showed negative; we metabolize copper fine. Soil around these parts--from which most of our childhood foods, which were natural, hailed--isn't too copper-rich, so that isn't a problem for me, thankfully. I think balancing out co

Is it possible that it was some other, less well known, but relatively common chemical to which you are allergic or sensitive, KidRaw? This is awful, and I do hope you see those doctors and get to the bottom of what it is, and find that it is temporary and reversible. I have stopped buying any homegood that isn't natural/made someplace other than China. Small electrical things from China, OK

Curiously, a lot of the symptoms of this disorder were present in me from childhood to my early 20s, and becoming a vegetarian changed almost everything. I wonder . . . Thanks for posting, powerlifer; as I work after-school day care at a grade school, I am always on the lookout for various signs and symptoms and will add this to my mental files.
