Hi, Welcome, and congrats on taking the raw plunge and pursuing health! I have done a 14 day Orange Juice fast, a 25 day juice feast (drinking 4L of juice a day, and several juice fasts for shorter periods). I'd be happy to shade some light! When juicing it is definitely important to use enemas, you will see that a lot of junk can clear out, while you yourself are producing little new waste!! I

Hey EZ rider, I had a similar experience after being raw for a year, gave in to cooked food once while traveling, and it took me a couple months to get back to all raw. I think what helped me in the end was setting a date to go back fully raw, and sticking with it (o: Good luck to you, and congrats on your first nearly year raw!

Maybe my taste buds are off... I'm in Canada, so watermelons are not local here. I've been loving them!! In fact I despised watermelon prior to becoming a raw foodie. Last summer I dabbled in them. This summer I am devouring them! They are so flavorful and energy giving!

Great question Chloe. I found raw food while glancing at the Vegetarian cookbook section in a book store. I bought Raw Food Real World that day, then ordered Alissa Cohen's book and a dehydrator. I read Alissa's book and was INSPIRED!! Cleaned out all my cupboards of Vegan canned and processed goods... and went raw! Over 2 years ago! I've read so many books on raw, nutrition and raw uncooking

When I am juice fasting I don't get my period or it comes very late (ie. when back on solids, and in particular more nuts). When I eat more fats it comes more frequently, and no fats, it comes rarely. Less fat, less symptoms. More fat, more symptoms. That is just my experience so far.

I would think that your body will have built up a wonderful reserve of greens, and their vitamins and minerals after you have been drinking them for a long time. I think the health is now within you and that your body would be able to adjust to less greens over the course of a week. Greens may make you feel even more wonderful when you go back on them a week later!

I am moving to a warmer climate soon! Currently living in a small town north of the northernmost city in North America... up here in Canada. Winter's are cold and snowy... Each year I feel thankful to have survived another winter! Haha!! The province I live in is known for it's farming, beef, and the stampede... I don't fit in here! After going raw, my husband and I decided to work hard a

I think raw is a small enough community without dividing ourselves up into 'purists' and non 'purists', low fat, high fat, fruitarian, low fruit, 100% raw, 99% raw, 90% raw etc. Lets be supportive of each other. We have all come to raw foods from a different place, and our bodies and minds may not be in the same place as one another's. We all share the bond of eating raw vegan foods, so why do pe

Alicia Silverstone is raw, younger, and beautiful, often the face of veganism for PETA. I would definitely talking about emotional stability and skin, energy, less sleep required! Those are benefits teens could relate to. Also, about feeling wonderful, positive, able to dream big and reach for those dreams! Raw's like a natural high, without having to sneak around, do illegal drugs, smoke, dr

Hi bizziegold, Check out www.goneraw.com for tons of recipes! Congrats on discovering raw! I find you can always entice others with the deserts, and most are filling enough, and great nutrition for a meal! Maybe you can try eating before you cook for your hubby and then share a raw desert together afterwards (o:

Hey Veggiefreak, sorry you are not feeling very well. I'm confident mono eating will help bring you back to good health quickly! You keep up the good work looking after yourself!! I hear you about bananas as comfort food. I was mono eating watermelon and Orange Juicing so well last week... and the bananas were calling out to me. I thought I'd just have one... I think I had four, than I had cravin

If you are new to raw and hungry... eat! Eat lots if you have to! Don't feel bad eating a whole bunch of bananas if you are hungry for them. Your body is shifting so drastically. I went from vegan to raw vegan and it seemed in the beginning I was constantly eating. I even ate a lot of nuts back then. Now I don't need as many calories, and can't eat very much! Haha! Enjoy (o:

Well I had about 1 and 1/4 Watermelons today. The second one I got into was all fleshy and full of black seeds... and I was so not enjoying it, despite being hungry, so I stopped. It reminded me of watermelon when I was a kid, and how much I hated it! Sometimes, sad as it sounds I like GM... at least I know now that I like seedless watermelon better than the fleshy seedy kind! I only have 1 more

Well I've eaten a whole watermelon already today too! I'm starting to get hungry again... I will have some tea and see if that helps, besides I'm still cold despite my blanket! Other than that I feel great, but I imagine tomorrow may not be so easy. $10 for huge organic watermelons!!! Wow, I am so envious! Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy! And please let us know how amazing they taste!

Hey, I am in too, starting today... It will be so nice to have the support of one another! So far today I've had about 1/3 of a watermelon consumed in one sitting at 12:30pm. Now I am full and chilly and drinking some peppermint tea! I feel great today! Phantom where are you in Canada? I'm in Alberta. I've been raw for over 2 years. I did a 45 day juice feast that ended about 3 mon

Hey Cocoa_Nibs, After a year of being 100% raw (went raw overnight), I ate a little cooked food while on holidays.... I spiraled out of control, and had very intense cravings for a lot of cooked foods. It took me a few months to get back to raw 100%. In my opinion, eating a non raw meal is not worth the effort it takes to get back to raw. That said, now if I eat gourmet raw foods, they set

I find that when I mono eat, I only eat until I am full. I feel high energy. I am happy. I sleep better and wake more refreshed. I was mono eating orange juice and watermelon for a few days. Yesterday I had such a craving for a banana, I had one. It was so addicting, not like the orange juice and watermelon, which I wanted more of only when I was hungry again. The banana I wanted more and more

Hi LikeItOrNot, I don't know what to say. My Sister-in-law had a similar experience when she tried fasting on Orange Juice last summer. She is normally a cooked fooder though. She ended up going to emergency (hospital) she was so worried, and drank a gatorade, ate 1/2 a chocolate bar and then fell asleep. When she woke she was tired and weak but no more numbness and dizziness. Sounds like

Hi Patty, I don't think flax and hemp seeds get grinded up when blended with all the other ingredients. If you have a high speed blender you can blend the seeds up first... as long as the blender is dry. Then add your other ingredients! Or,grind ahead of time and store in the fridge in a glass jar, with a black plastic bag around it. You can also use a coffee grinder!

You can purchase raw nuts and seeds! A trick with sprouting Garbanzo beans... in the heat, you need to rinse them 3-4 times a day to avoid them going moldy... If you soak over night Friday night, and rinse a few times Saturday and Sunday, they should be ready some time Sunday. They are very fast to sprout! Try eating lots of bananas! They are high calorie and energy, very filling, and cost effe
