Date: May 25, 2009 04:23PM I watched "Into the Wild" last night. I loved it. I wonder why it "irked" you LaV. Was it the directing?
I had read something on his story years ago. It always stuck with me. On the previews before "Into the Wild" I saw "Kite Runner" was made into a movie. I loved the book. It was very visual. I already started to enjoy seeing that world come to life in the preview. I think I will really enjoy the movie. We stared "East of Eden." It is really good too. I love John Steinbeck. Date: June 03, 2009 06:25PM just read the secret life of bees, what a terrific novel! we'll see if the movie is as good.
i know as a girl i'm not Supposed to like the shawshank redemption but i keep thinking about it and now i'm gonna have to watch it again to make sure. i remember it being so good, sneaky plot, awesome characters, deviousness. i love movies with a good twist at the end. and any movie with a quote like this deserves to be liked by all "Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies" has anyone seen like water for chocolate? excellent book and screen play (written by the same person so very true to eachother for a change). Date: June 03, 2009 09:00PM I liked "The Secret Life of Bees." I read the book and then saw the movie about a year after. From what I remembered the movie was right on, except Dakota Fanning did not look like the girl described in the book. She did a good job though. Queen Latifa (SP?) was exactly like I pictured her character. and all the others too. Alicia Keys was perfect, IMO.
Hope you enjoy it coco!!! Re: What's Your Current Favorite Movie?

I love "When Harry Met Sally." We were watching it last night. I laugh and laugh at Rob Reiner films. I love that one especially. Re: What's Your Current Favorite Movie?

Date: June 12, 2009 12:51AM I saw Blacula and Scream Blacula Scream over the weekend. I enjoyed them as much as I did when I first saw them in the early 70s.
Ha...after seeing a vampire movie I would come home and dive under the covers(being 9-10yrs at the time)and re-emerged only until after daylight came. I didn't care how hot it was, and boy it is hot in Guyana. And no AC. I used to feel immense relief when the @#$%& would crow because as everyone knows a vampire has to go back to its coffin when @#$%& crow. Lol. Vampire movies remain my all time favorite movies. I was the one who called "Shawshank Redemption" a guys movie. I took some flack about that. I like the way Andy's mind worked during the movie, not fully revealed until the end. Women (most anyway) don't think that way. It was a very Strong movie for me. Please tell us what you think after seeing it again....WY Re: What's Your Current Favorite Movie?

I didn't see the movie "Blindness" but I read the book by Saramago. I know it won a nobel prize and all but I couldn't stomach the contents. Don't ask me why I finished reading it. It left me feeling writhing and wishing I hadn't read it. The only apocalyptic movie I liked was "Children of Men" only because it had two moments of great beauty in the midst of a total wasteland of armageddon scape. I didn't read the book though. Someone said the book for Children of Men had a different name than the film itself. Anyone know? Anyone read it? Any comments? coco Cold Mountain is very well written. The author is gifted and I'm still enjoying savoring the reading of it. Very sparse but perfect language. It is a rarity. The movie was a bit sappy... nothing at all like the book which is truly a gem and far more imploring. cy Dreamscape looks really interesting. Just read the synopsis. I am gonna see if I can rent it. Thanks a bunch for the recommendation! Can't say I've seen any great movies lately. Actually, the only one I saw in a great heaping while is the documentary " Man on a Wire" but believe it or not ,the Special Features for that movie is far more astonishing. i really loved what he had to say about being an artist and a poet. He said that he is not a tight rope walker but an artist who uses the canvas as the sky. He has an incredible and passionate spirit that cannot help but to be respected. I am very sorry to tell you that that isn't actually George Clooney singing in that movie, though he does a wonderful job mimicking : ( I love that movie, btw; to me it's like a weird and funny counterpoint to "Paper Moon." With a dash of "Raising Arizona" tossed in. Re: What's Your Current Favorite Movie?

LOL. I guess it's better to know the Truth, and be disillusioned, rather than not know, and live in a State-of-Delusion. I've been watching clips of Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix in "Walk the Line", and they did all their own singing....and Very Well I might add. So when I heard Clooney (and group) singing, I just assumed he (they) did too....WY Re: What's Your Current Favorite Movie?

I know, I know, it's a darn shame, but "Oh Brother Where Art Thou? " is still a fabulous movie, with George Clooney's performance being one of the best in his career, in my opinion. I liked "Walk the Line," and hope that that super-talented Joaquin Phoenix comes back from kookyland soon and resumes making good films : ) Edited 1 time(s).
