Well I've finally reached my ideal fasting blood sugar zone and I'm very happy! This morning my FBS was 76!! I think part of this breakthrough is due to adding more nutrient dense veggies to my green juice and upping my seaweed intake to 15 (dry) grams a day in addition to the T. of chlorella I take every day. I've upped my sprout intake in my green juice from 2 oz to 4 oz. I have also been going with more oils and less nuts for fats so that may be helping, too. I'll have to do more experimenting to know more about that.

Yesterday my lipid intake was 78.3%. My zinc:copper ratio was 5.211:1 (which I've read is ok for women). My omega 6:3 ratio was 2.269:1.

Just as a mini experiment for the past two days I upped my lipid intake to 81.3% and 81.2% while cutting out my usual quart of greens juice. This resulted in my FBS rising back into the 80's. 83 and then 82.

I'll be adding back my green juice today, of course, but it's interesting to do these mini experiments IMO.

why not go to 100% fat intake?

do you think FBS is the only indicator of health?

anything else that one should consider monitoring, like ability to run after someone who has stolen your purse? ;-)

You're a silly guy, fresh. I like doing experiments within experiments while isolating variables. No amount of you're trolling me will stop that.

the previous food you ate affects the sugar level by means of bacteria activity. See this:

[nutritionfacts.org]

"How is that even possible? The mystery has since been solved. Remember what our gazillions of gut bacteria do with fiber? They produce compounds like propionate with it (see Fawning Over Flora and Boosting Good Bacteria in the Colon Without Probiotics) that get absorbed into our system and slow down gastric emptying—the rate at which food leaves our stomach—so we don’t get as much of a sugar rush. It’s like symbiosis. We feed our good bacteria and they feed us back. So, we have a bean burrito for supper and by the next morning it’s time for our gut bacteria to eat that same burrito and the by-products they create may affect how our breakfast is digested."

I am aware of that, Panchito.

As I said before the only change in my FBS elevation the past two days was that I didn't have my usual quart of green juice. The fiber in my green juice is probably close to zero as I use a hydraulic press for juicing so that didn't change my fiber intake at all from when my FBS was in the 70's.

My carb intake remained steady for the time from before my FBS was in the 70's and throughout my little mini experiment - hovering around 50-60 grams.

My sugar intake didn't change much either which probably doesn't matter anyway because it is so low - always below 10 grams a day.

So your posted link does not apply at all in my case.

Interestingly, there are many negative articles written on flax, and many of them are misleading. Here is one such misleading article. I post this because l know Seuz has a reasonably high flax diet, but there is no need to worry because many of these claims are misleading or the conclusions from the studies quoted are flat out wrong.

From Rancid Fats to Anti-Nutrients - More Reasons to Avoid Flax
[integratedsupplements.typepad.com]

I wrote to this author correcting his mistakes, so it will be interesting if heir posts my comment. Will be a good test to see if he is a disinfo agent or has a big ego.

Mistakes =

* author concludes that the David Jenkins etal study says that flax greatly increases oxidation stress due to reduction in anti oxidants because of the significant decrease in thiol proteins. This is wrong because that only applies to defattened flax and not full fat flax.

* author says that the anti B6 factor in flax is a problem. Well, it is for various animals, but not for humans.

* author says the cyanogenic glycosides are a major problem, but not if you grind the flax.

* the author says oxalic acid is a major problem, but that has been proven to be the case with raw foods, besides their are ways to combat any negative effects with oxalic acid in raw foods.

* the author says that phytic acid is a problem, but most studies done on the harmful effects are only short term. One long term study shows the opposite and indicates no anti nutrient activity.
