I just shave everytime I shower with a cheap plastic disposable razor. I don't have very thick hair on my legs or armpits so one razer lasts me about 2 weeks. I look at it as a type of exfoliation. I don't remember a time actually that I ever had hairy armpits or legs because I began shaving so young (culture/peer influence). But shaving doesn't seem like much effort for me so I d

I used to think it was the citrus fruit and pineapples that caused my teeth to hurt when I ate them, but it was because I was brushing my teeth with hydrogen peroxide. I think the HP was increasing sensitivity because once I stopped using it my teeth no longer hurt when I eat fruit!

Sunshine, are you saying roasted cacao has more available magnesium than the raw kind? Is it like tomatoes and lycopene or something? Does roasting the cacao make it easier to digest maybe, like certain veggies?

I juice collard greens (a few with orange juice and ginger). Sounds weird but I love it. Tons of calcium in them!

I have to chime in here with how great colonics are! I just got one last week after not being able to get one for the first 4 months of pregnancy. They are s0 important when you start eating cleansing foods like fruits and veggies and juices to release old impacted matter that gets stirred up so you don't feel bloated after eating raw foods. Without colonics, the body can have trouble pass

We are the say way since we started composting! I can't get over how little garbage we have now. We burn any excess paper or carboard in the fireplace and reuse our own canvas bags and this cuts down on the trash even more! Composting is great!

Reducing food quantity is really one of the beautiful things about raw for me. I feel like I am able to maintain my weight eating a lot less food than I used to when I first went raw or when I was cooked. I think that after you do so many cleanses your absorption really increases. Plus the hight nutrient concentration of raw foods enable you to meet all your nutritional requirements and more

Nuts and poor food combining are killer for my digestion. Nuts honestly make me constipated for days everytime I eat them. Seeds are a bit better. But I try to stick to avocadoes and olives and oils, lots of greens (juiced and blended) and fruits alone. This seems to work for me. I just get worried about not getting enough proten without nuts sometimes because I am pregnant, but I feel g

Sounds like I was the opposite of you, allone! In my first trimester I was so nauseous all I could eat was fruit. Couldn't look at greens, nevertheless anything spicy or cooked for months. I actually lost weight. The only fat I ate was avocadoes, pretty much. Thank goodness I am finally feeling like myself, now that I am 4 months pregnant! And am craving lots of greens and green juices,

This is my one "health problem" that I still have. I HATE being so dependent on glasses and contacts. It drives me crazy! I have read all kinds of books about healing your vision naturally, Relearning to see, etc. I know what I have to do, but do not have the means right now. I would need to gradually reduce my prescription and work with a Bates teacher, sungaze, etc. But I ha

I used the Billings Method (see book by that name on amazon or somewhere else) and it always worked great. Now I am pregnant, but it is because I chose to become so. My cycles are always very very regular and I am very in touch with my body and all its suble signals. I think knowing your cervical mucus is key. And playing it safe by not having sex between the end of your period and ovulat

I have to say I'm not crazy about green smoothies, either. Sweet fruit and greens together just doesn't taste right to me. But I love green soups! Celery cilantro red pepper olive oil salt lemon is the one I just had for dinner. With dulse pieces in it. very good. I just like to eat my fruit alone.

I think I have a similar constitution to you. I have also been told by Chinese herbalist that I have a cold constitution and always have low blood pressure, too. What works for me is warm herbal tea in the morning. I need this esp. in winter to keep my digestion functioning properly. Raw green soups seem to work better for me than salads, as they are easier to digest. There are lots

I just try to eat stuff in season, locally grown, and tomatoes and other nightshades are definitely out of season most places right now. Besides I prefer the heirlooms and they are impossible to get now. Even in the summer I try to balance them out with greens all the time. Maybe the concentrated tomato products are what causes the arthritis.

Most important thing for my skin and hair is to use a good Shower Filter! I dry skin brush and then use just water to shower. Use organic shampoo about once a week, the other days I just use water on it. I pour some Hydrogen Peroxide on my toothbrush and brush with that. Keeps my teeth very white. I switch this up with Gum Joy oil if I want some minty fresh flavor. I've never had any

Just keep it high alkaline and low sugar. Also, stop using any medications or over the counter stuff on it, too. It only dries it out and makes it worse in the long run from my experience. Coconut oil definitely is good on my skin, as well. If it is high quality, really raw it is absorbed and does not feel oily on the skin. MSM lotion also helps.

This thread makes me miss peaches and nectarines (which I actually like better). But I'll be good and wait until summer. No organic ones available now. I peel them if they are really ripe and the skin comes off easily. If it doesn't want to come off I don't force it and eat it as is. It depends on the peach!

After a few years of being raw my body just stopped being able to eat bananas. Maybe it picked up of this, because I did not start to dislike bananas on purpose because I read they are bad or anything, it just happened! Also, I have "excessive dampness" in my Chinese medicine diagnosis so makes sense given this too that bananas wouldn't appeal to me. Sometimes I wish I could like t

Hey Lois, It's good to see you're still here, too! I usually just lurk and only post if something is particularly interesting to me. Narz is in Ojai now looking for a place for us to live while I stay in a spare room in my friend's place in San Diego for a few weeks. Where are you living now? You're originally from NJ, too, right?

Sounds like me. I just can't get myself to eat or like bananas. Everytime I try to make something with them in it I end of having to throw it away and I Hate wasting food! But my roommate always buys bunches and bunches of them and I don't wanna see them rot, but looks like I don't have a choice!
