Emilym, By the time you read this, it will be a new day. Don't beat yourself up over yesterday...you certainly could have done a lot worse than bread & olive oil. I'm glad you're not going to quit. One little slip up isn't a failure so hang in there. Every positive step you take toward raw foods is an overall improvement in your health. I look forward to reading everyone's posts. I don

Yes, I use fitday and log in everything I eat as well as my exercise. I also find it very helpful. My weight history is a bit like yours. I was an overweight child and then starved myself in high school to get down to 110 lbs(I'm 5'2". In my 20s, I fluctuated from 120-150, but after pregnancy, never got any lower than 145. My 30s were 150-170, my 40s 165-213 was my highest weight. I lost 17 l

363. Re: Skin!
I'm looking for recommendations for a natural facial routine (cleanse, tone, moisturize) that can either be homemade or purchased at a health food store. I have very sensitive skin that is aging (I am 47). I previously used Arbonne which I think has mostly natural ingredients. I like it but it is very expensive. Just wondering what else is used out there that others have used with success. I hate

Before going raw, I was on Weight Watchers and had lost 40lbs. in 6 months. My first month going raw I actually gained 4 lbs in 2 weeks and then maintained that weight. But after one week of cutting back on grains, nuts, and fats, and staying about 80% carb / 10% fat / 10% protein, I've lost 6 lbs. After I lose all my extra weight (I've still got another 45 lbs to go), I know I can easily maintai

It really does make a difference. Thank you Prism for your kind regards. Peisinoe, it sounds like you had an awesome day too. GREAT FOR YOU! In one week I was able to lose the 4 lbs I put on during the month of Jun

I just read an article about the many benefits of flax seeds, which include anti-inflamatory properties proposed to ease fibromyalgia symptoms, rhumatoid arthritis, etc...using 2 TB a day, ground, and added to food. Has anyone any successes with flax seeds? Any suggestions about how to use flax seed oil? What kind of recipes can it be incorporated into? What kind of flavor does it have?

There is a book called the 80-10-10 diet. I just ordered it, but it hasn't arrived yet. It has to be ordered from the author's website or from Amazon, but currently Amazon is taking 4-6 weeks to deliver. So...the info I have is limited to what I have read on the web. Using a food-calorie / nutritional calculator like fitday.com you input the foods you eat to find out their percentages of fat,

Day 7 note: well, I have had a terrible day of feeling poorly and craving foods. I will tertainly not be having egg drop soup again! It is so NOT worth it! Feeling Tired...achy joints...depressed and lethargic. I'll be glad when this passes and hopefully tomorrow will be better. On the brighter side of things, I had two positive comments this week. A lady I know told me I looked really good

Day 6 Journal No weight loss this morning...actually it was up .2 Although that is not significant, I believe it was due to eating too many bananas yesterday (6) which I seemed to have been craving. I feel good today and still happy with my weight loss total for the week. Tomorrow will be the one week mark...YEAH! I remember on day 2 thinking I don't know if I can do this...but now, I'm really

I've been raw for 6 weeks now. The first two weeks I lost weight. I was eating mostly fruits and vegetables, because that was all I had on hand. The the next two weeks I started eating more raw gourmet-type foods, nut butters and sprouted grains....and I gained 4 lbs. On July 5, I decided to try 80-10-10 (there is a thread here about it) to monitor my carbs, fat, protein and calories. Since doing

Sorry you had a bad day Prism. I have been an emotional eater for years, but for some reason, I seem to be doing much better since going raw. For me, planning is the key..and having stuff available when a craving hits. And no matter what you're facing, it won't last forever...eventually, this too will pass. Keep your chin up. I'm proud of you for setting a new resolve for tomorrow. You're not in

There are tons of websites on raw foods. Here is only one page, but it has a lot of links on it. I started by going to the library and checking out everything they had. I have purchased several books. Borders, Books a Million, Amazon.com, etc. has MANY! I have one cookbook I love for gourmet type raw foods that give me the sense of eating something cooked, but the recipes are time consu

After doing the Master Cleanse / lemonade diet, my gums started bleeding and receeded a bit. Since I wasn't consuming anything but lemon juice w/ maple syrup, my guess was that it was from the acid in the lemons. Since then (about6 weeks) my teeth are still very sensitive to any cold liquid as well as to certain fruits, especially those that are highly acidic. So...I don't know for sure, but I'm

I use a "saladaco" ( a little gadget I ordered off Amazon). You can put a zucchini squash in it and it turns it into angelhair pasta...at least it looks like it. When combined with homemade marinara sauce, I can't tell the difference in the taste...except that it isn't hot.

You have to be careful that your nuts don't spoil. If they have a funny texture or smell, they are bad. This is how I do mine: I put in a mason jar covered with cheese cloth with double the amount of water just before bed and let soak overnight. The next morning I rinse them and allow them to drain VERY WELL at a 45 degree angle in the dish drain. If I'm trying to sprout them (seeds), I leave th

Whenever I eat certain fruits (I'm guessing that are high in enzymes) it makes my mouth feel fuzzy and somewhat raw. Is there anyway to counteract this? It is rather unpleasant and usually lasts for several hours.

Maybe your not getting enough food or certainly not enough fiber...apple, apricots, nectarines, plumbs, orange (Prunes or dates always do it for me). I also find that walking helps to "move" things along.

Yeah...I'm going to go onto Dr. Graham's website and see if I can get the book. I don't want to wait 4-6 weeks with Amazon. Any suggestions for getting more protein? I looked at fit day and it seems that most of the foods I'm eating only have 1-2 proteins each...which is why I'm having trouble getting enough. I'm still shooting for 80-10-10, but 70-20-10 sure seems a lot easier. But who said this

Prism, I've with you on the avocado...I find it so satisfying and fulfilling. Today I didn't have one, but I had made some marinara to eat with spaghetti squash and it has olive oil...so that was my fat. I'm also having a problem getting enough protein. I"ll check out fitday.com. You're doing great!!! Keep up the good work!

Siracusa, I am only one month raw myself and at first, felt overwhelmed but really had a deep rooted desire to be healthy. Facing some health issues myself, I was convinced that going raw was the only way to go, but I truly was scared that I couldn't do it. I decided to take it one day at a time and implement gradual changes....celebrate successes and not beat myself up if I slipped up. From

I'm having the same problem as Prism...getting the fat % down. Even though I still seem to be having good results in the 20% range, I'm going to try and get it down to 10%. I'm also having trouble getting enough protein. I noticed yesterday (day 4) that I couldn't eat very much...got very full on my foods and felt like I was forcing myself to eat. This is a nice change from being hungry all the t
