Hi everyone, My husband has a very dry and itchy scalp. I'm wondering if there could be any connection between this skin condition and eating sugar, eg junk food? I'm sure all of you will say that he shouldn't be eating sugar anyway, but we're making such huge changes to our diet (and a lot of them!) that getting rid of the sugar type foods seems to be the last thing to go. We've cut all fried f

Hi Cara, I'm fairly new to the raw food way of life as well. I own two books, one is called the Detox Diet by Natalia Rosa, and the other is the Live Food Factor by Susan Schenck. I found the one by Natalia Rosa a great way to start. It's simple and easy to understand. The Live Food Factor I just found had way too much information for me at this stage. The worst part about the second book was

Hi Annie, I'm reasonably new to this way of eating as well. I have eaten mainly raw for the past two years but for me heading toward the goal slowly is so much less stressful than trying to embark overnight. I have three kids, four step kids, a husband who is only home on weekend and I work fulltime and study. So....for me the key has been keeping it simple, particularly where the children

Hi, no, I love avocados. I've just been trying not to eat too many of them based on the 80-10-10 principles. But I'm thinking that maybe the 80-10-10 is too restrictive for me which is why I'm struggling. Perhaps it's a better goal to head toward raw without being too restrictive initially.

Hi everyone, Sorry if anyone is sick of my posts but I'm brand new to this and have lots of questions! Thank you to everyone who has answered me so far - I appreciate all the help/advice you're giving. My question is am I eating enough? By that I mean that at the moment I'm only hitting about 1800 calories for the day. My day looks like: 3 bananas 1 punnet strawbs 4 cups fresh oj with

Wow, it sounds like school would sure keep you busy. I think you're wise to take things slowly where 80-10-10 is concerned because it's the journey that counts, not the destination!

Hi newhoove, Thank you for taking the time to explain things to me. I really appreciate it! It makes perfect sense now. I ate very well yesterday and was a bit concerned to see my fat so high, but in reality on the little bar graph my fat intake was 24%, which is obviously not perfect but I think I'm heading in the right direction. I don't think the milk helped as I had two coffee's. I'm sure

A question please for those people who use Nutridiary. I'm trying to follow the principles of 80-10-10. If I log into Nutridiary, under "My Log", I see what I have eaten for the day. My question is should I be following the little bar graph (Calories) under the heading "Nutrition Summary", or do I follow the actual percentages? For example if I click on the bar graph I see th

Ahh, it's becoming clearer now. I didn't realise that the milk was % fat by weight and not by calories. I'm learning heaps! Many thanks again for taking the time to reply. Julie.

Thanks everyone for your help. I'll go back and check my logs. I think what has not helped is I had fullcream milk in my coffee which nutridiary says is 48% fat. I guess this has not helped!

Hi All, I've just looked at the Nutridiary website and am starting to look at the 80-10-10 diet. I have what is probably considered a stupid question to ask someone! I have logged what I have eaten today so far into Nutridiary.com (2 bananas, 2 kiwi fruit, bunch of grapes and a coffee) and I'm already at 12% fat for the day. Am I correct in saying that on 80-10-10 I should be trying to keep les

Thanks for your message. I have had this problem since I was 15 and I'm now almost 40. There does not seem to be any underlying problems except for a strong family history of fibroids and heavy bleeding. I've only just started on the raw food regimen so hopefully I'll notice a change soon. Many thanks!

Hi Bryan, Thank you for your message. My juice has usually one orange, two apples, celery, spinach, lettuce, carrots and any other greens I can get my hands on, like zucchini or kale. Any ideas for other things I could add?

Hi everyone, can anyone suggest foods I can eat (or drink/juice) to help reduce heavy periods? I'm currently taking a herbal supplement from a naturopath which is working very well but it's quite expensive. I was wondering if there is something I can increase in my diet that would help reduce the heavy bleeding I get during my period. Many thanks!

Hi everyone, I'm just starting on the raw food way of life so it is possible that a couple of issues that I'm suffering from are more from the old cooked and fast food way of life. My issues are firstly that I have an extremely dry scalp. I'm trying adding one tablespoon of flaxseed oil to my morning juices. Not sure if anyone knows if this is enough or do I need a different kind of oil? A

Hi everyone, Thanks so much to all who replied to my desperate post! I feel much brighter now about trying to stick with things. I was so worried about the food combining and trying to watch so carefully what I ate that I was completely overwhelmed. Thanks again everyone!

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can offer me some advice please. I'm brand new to a Raw food way of eating and doing reasonably well. I'm making green juice every morning and trying to eat just fruit until lunchtime.
