I tried fruitarianism, and it was disastrous. I don't find these people to be the real deal anything, though the documentary was well-done.

Stop eating that crap! Could it be more simple? Processed flour products- whether corn or wheat or whatever- are *the worst.* I would have a really strong negative reaction if I ate that stuff, too. You may have eaten it as a kid, but you're not a kid anymore, and as your body gets used to nourishing whole foods it's going to reject that kind of stuff with increasing clarity.

Ayahuasca is good, but "breatharianism" is absolutely tragic, pseudo-spirituality. We're alive beings; we eat. Why the fuss? It's a elitist, dangerous, phony spirituality.

I think any of the nourishing oils are good to have in moderation- like olive, coconut, sesame, flax/hemp, etc. Avoid GMO crap like soybean/vegetable oil.

*Fresh* dates and *fresh* figs are two of the best things in the world. Really, I find a big difference between fresh dates and the store-bought dried ones. I just bought ten pounds from www.7hotdates.com. If you've never had a fresh date you've never had a date. And they also stay fresh and fine for months and months, esp. if you keep them in a cool place, which is exactly the opposite of fresh

I feel a zillion times better now that I'm eating a lot more fat than that. Coconut rocks my world. 80/10/10 or something like that may be good for a short period cleanse, but in my experience it's not at all sustainable. You get really flaky/spacey and just malnourished. I think there may be a time for extreme low-fact, but it's not all the time. Follow your instincts,

Tea is better, but caffeine is a control drug any way you look at it, in my opinion. Makes you robotic, rather than creative. That's what capitalism needs, little speedy human robots; that's why there's a coffee shop every half block now. Mislu, tea isn't going to kill you, but what if you took a week or two off to see how you feel?

Or you could just eat high-water-content fruit by itself. That's my preferred method of hydration. Like melons, papayas, persimmons, etc. Doesn't that sound good? IMO that's nature's best source of water, anyway.

I'm going to agree that the extreme low-fat of "80/10/10" really messed me up, as well. Fruit is good... but too much and you end up like Durianrider. We should all keep a totally open mind when it comes to dietary changes.

No more talking about paradise when I'm stuck inside on a cold winter-like day. I've noticed my needs are a *lot* different in the dead of winter in New England. A lot more protein and fat, while in the summer I go periods on just fruit. Last winter I started cooking a little after being initially comically terrified of it. But it worked out- some soups and stews. My body doesn't go for the ra

No, it's all good. I can't do the coconut butter anymore (or avocadoes atm); my body's taxed out on it. Macadamia nuts and almond butter are my two nuts of choice right now. I go totally on instinct, rather than considerations of omegas and what not (despite my screen name). Once in a while walnuts hit the spot, only if they're high-quality. And once in a while pistachios. Those date prices

There's a lot more than "eat fruit." Yesterday I found my body not craving fruit at all, actually. And in the winter I naturally de-prioritize fruit. The biggest thing is being open to your body's changing needs. From memory here's the recipe for "raw mashed taters," which is always a *huge* hit with friends and family, eaters of all persuasions. 1 cup cauliflower 1 cup

And eight years later- oh how you've evolved? I'm on the ifruit with Anne, but that's not really active. I'll check out the others. I'll message you. Though I'm not a pure fruitarian anymore. Tried it for a few months- didn't work out.

I've never in my life heard anyone say, "Fruit makes you fat." But I guess you have. I don't think people are really trying to hate on you here, though, man. In general you could listen a tiny bit more than just repeating your message over and over. A little bit of humility can go a long way.

Hey, suncloud, that's pretty much my situation. I don't find salads palatable, for whatever reason (I've read that this is one area where our bodies differ a lot, salads). I can do a few raw veggies blended with nuts and seeds, so sometimes I do recipes with veggies and nuts. My all-time favorite is the raw "mashed taters" out of a gabriel cousens book, which is a cauliflower, macadamia

Yo, I just bought some bahri dates this afternoon, after agonizing over whether to go with medjool or bahri. Bahri is only available for a limited time; that clinched the decision for me. I go through Pato's Date Garden vis Local Harvest (.org), and I'm fanatical about their quality, and they're also organic and unionized. Haven't tried the Date People, but I've heard good things. Better than those Living Tree dried bananas, really? That's impressive. But I don't do any dried fruit now, only fresh. The thing with cashews is, I don't think they're ever raw, per se. There are apparently two stages of heat involved in getting cashews out of their shell. Apparently, the Indonesian cashews LTCF sells have been "minimally heat-treated," whatever that means. If yo

Living Tree Community Foods has a cashew butter that's made from sundried cashews from Indonesia (no salt), and it's *divine,* and as raw as you're gonna get. But very expensive, as all their stuff is. Here:

Thank you, rawgosia. 100% open-mindedness is the only way to evolve dietarily. Personally, I'm doing better on a diet that's less than 100% raw, though I do go weeks where all I eat is fruit. But we need not be fundamentalists or totally convinced we have the only truth at a given moment.

That kind of behavior is so childish. It's just like- don't you guys have better things to do with your time? Do you not realize that there are 50,000 people a day *dying of starvation* due to an insanely corrupt political system while you're busy divisively lecturing the world about a very, very specific diet plan that happens to not entirely work for some of us? Get real, peoples. Anyway, my s

I agree with eating tons and tons of fruit. My only problem is when some in the 80/10/10 crowd are so vehement that everyone has to do it *exactly* this very specific way. It's over the top. For one thing, our bodies are different. For another thing, we live in very different climate zones, which affect our protein and fat needs significantly. And, lastly, not everyone is interested in being a su
