Losing 25 loose hairs a day is acceptable-normal. More than that is often an indication of low levels of Biotin which is a water-soluble vitamin important for growth (hair grows, ask my hairdresser) and normal body function because it is a key element in gluconeogenesis,as well as the synthesis of fatty acids and certain proteins, some amino acid metabolism, and in the course of things maintainin

VitaMix is an advertising subsidizer of this site (see their ads below.) They make fine machines and so does Blendtec. The two have a good competition going on which is of benefit to all health savvy consumers. Search for the topic Blendtec_HP3A and look at some of the side-by-side comparisons matching the VitaMix blenders and the HP3A Blender (also with the BPA-free jar which does wet and dry

If you want a Jack LaLane blender for $25.00, go to the Montel Williams Health Master site and buy a "refurbished" one. I predict that neither the LaLane blender/juicer, nor the "Health Master" will last long enough to provide for your full satisfaction. To my recollection, the Health Master has a 60-days full refund guarantee. Ask them what the guarantee is on their "

Ditto for cleaning my Blendtec. 2" to 3" of tap hot water, a drop or two of soap, a pulse or two, rinse and dry. The reason for sonically welding the blades into the BPA free jars is for safety. At 3+ peak horsepower and 28,000 rpm the last thing you would want is to have a problem with a blade coming loose. The double seals insure that cleaning (as above) has you ready for the next

To my knowledge the "Healthmaster" is made in China, one of their phone reps said a replacement jar is "$29.95"; they advertise a "100 year warranty on the motor"--a spin off of the Jack Lalanne TV blender (for which calling the same number offers "a refurbished one" of those for $25---plus the undefined "shipping and handling". They offer a 3 yea

As an aside: the new Blendtec jars (BPA Free and with their 3 year warranty) have sonically welded drie shafts and won't leak unless the jar wears out. Don't let a bad jar (Vitamix or Blendtec) cause wear to your motor which is the expensive part of your blender/juicer. For other blender/juicers tampering on your own might invalidate your warranty so it always pays to read your manual carefull

Better than just a picture! I teach yoga, an ancient form from Laos designed to cleanse toxins from the body. Better than a photo are the DVD or video tapes of these basic and advanced lessons (for details contact me at herbalista@msn.com). Raw foods and juicing are wonderful approaches to better and enduring health, but think about combining that approach with yoga and meditation to complete

In the HP3A (Blendtec's) 2"-3" of warm water, 2-3 drops of liquid dish detergent pulsed 4-5 times or run on any medium cycle does the cleaning just fine, rinse, dry, and ready.

Using nondairy creamer, rice, soy, or almond milk. make some trays of ice cubes. Use a cup of that same liquid and add 3/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract, your chosen sweetener for taste, your fruit or additional flavorings such as pumpkin, peanut butter, cookies, syrups), plus 2 or 3 cups of those previously frozen ice cubes, and blend at a lower speed for up to 15 seconds, and then at your highes

A great book of smoothies is the one entitled "1, 2, 3 Smoothies" The Vitamix and Blendtec blenders come with great recipe books which include smoothies. If you ever buy someone's used blender, make sure they include the recipe book, too. For smoothies done in your blender, remember this order of putting the ingredients in your blender: liquids, softs, firms, frozen, ice (last) and

See also previous "freebies" in this same Topic. Here is a recipe for Mayonnaise made with Tofu: 6 ounces of drained, pressed Tofu 1.75 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, 1.75 tablespoons of canola, grapeseed, or extra virgin olive oil, 3/8ths teaspoon of salt (I prefer Redmond's), 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground pepper, and, if you like (or appreciate) garlic, add 1 small, peele

Hair loss can in many cases be attributed to a deficiency of Biotin (an essential coenzyme vitmin) and this can be especially true when its primary natural sources: brewer's yeast, milk, meat, egg yolks, saltwater fish, poultry, soybeans, and whole grains are not significant elements in the diet. Supplementing with 2,500 mcg daily adds just 15 cents or less per day to the food budget, but you

The old Chinese saying: "Expensive isn't expensive. Cheap isn't cheap" applies here. What's the warranty period? What do you really want to blend? Will that blender do it well? What if you want to blend other products later, will it do those too? And, if it lasts only as long as the warranty period and warranty conditions allow, will you feel you made a good purchase? There are

It is amazing how often folks spend hundreds for their blender and proceed on their own, even though the included recipe book includes "Blending 101" and its delightful recipes list each ingredient in the order in which they should be placed in their blender jar for the best results, even specifying which automated and timed cycle will produce the best result. A good rule of thumb: l

If you are being "close to the line" as to counting nutrients and daily nutrient needs, juicing has some risks. The primary risk is that the nutrients you will consume will pass so quickly that your body will optimize only a percentage of the nutrient input (and the whole point is: that percentage is not 100%!) Breaking down the cell walls helps to make the nutrients more available, b

How does this sound: 7-Years of warranty for the motor, 3-Years of warranty for the blender's pitcher, BPA-free pitcher, 30-days unconditional guarantee*, and $389 for the Blendtec Home Total Blender? None of these other "bargains" can match the 7-years warranty and those extra four years of warranty are going to cost you just the $61 difference from that "super low price!"

Good comment! I think "self-discipline" is, for most people, the hardest of all qualities to master, and that mastering it at a young age may well be easier than struggling to master it as we age. Name a serious failing of character and it seems invariably linked to some lack of self-discipline: marriages fail, jobs are lost, fights ensue, bankruptcy looms, and so many health problems

Still having a great time with my Blendtec blender. I notice there are some selling on ebay, but be careful. If sold at auction on ebay or other auction sites, Blendtec is not responsible and does not warrant the blender. Sold by reputable ebay stores (i.e. new blenders) it does. While there are "deals," and a mix of "dealers" (some authorized, and some otherwise) a good s

..."does get easier. The more you remember, the more you are able to experience, the more you know, so to speak. And the more you know, the more you remember. It is a circle. So yes, it gets easier, it gets better, it becomes even more joyful." (Page 157 of Conversations with God, book 1, by Neale Donald Walsch)
