Geo - I really agree with your above post. That has made all the difference for me. I think it's about sorting out what works for YOU and not thinking there are a strict set of rules. We are all different after all

I have a friend who is a reiki master and she took part in a clinical trial to see if reiki could help psoriasis. The overwhelming answer was yes - reiki had an enormously beneficial effect on those people with psoriasis. The really amazing part of this was that the doctors and nurses involved reconised the results and they were published. My friend has extraordinary success with treating

I've been musing over the possible signifigance of changing ones name. I had a friend whose name was Donna and she was known as Dee Dee. She wanted to change her name to Sunshine and tried it for a while but she found it didn't suit her when she wasn't feeling bright and happy - like it was an onerous task to live up to the name Sunshine. Do you think that changing ones name to something s

"'I'm making no absolute statements for this, notice. Guy-Claude Burger's wife, Nicole Burger, died of cancer on a diet heavy in raw meat. However, we know that fat is the hardest nutrient for the body to convert to glucose, and cancer cells just have sugar to survive. She was eating ultra-lean grassfed MUSCLE meat, without the fatty body parts. Most traditional tribes throw the muscle meat

That seems like a huge amount of water - i couldn't possibly drink all that. ''Water is filling and it is like munching something.'' You seem to be saying that you are drinking to prevent yourself eating - that doesn't sound particularly healthy to me.

Move over coco - big hug from me too. Geo - so many of us have dysfunctional families - i know i have. You always seem like a really interesting and sensitive guy with great input on here. No harm in giving the washing a big bashing on the line from time to time

Are you talking about plant fat c-k? Professor Carroll shows how breast cancer is associated with animal fat but not plant fat - to give but one example ref: The China Study by T. Colin Campbell from page 81

Sure chocolate isn't the 'best' for you but it is so far ahead of what one could be eating. Andy isn't even a week in yet so I think some raw chocolate is absolutely fine - specially if you want some sweeties and are contemplating something non vegan and yucky!!! Tam - there is a lot to barefoot running and yes potentially if you take your cushioned trainers off and do exactly what you wou

Would your parents have minded if you'd changed your name though Geo? I don't think i would mind if any of my children wanted to change their names. I mean it isn't out of lack of respect for 'me' that they are changing their names but because they prefer another name to the one I chose for them. We often take things too personally when they aren't meant to be - you changing your name is ju

Yes Fresh i have - it was the beginning of my barefoot running That 'relationship with the ground' that Christopher talks about is extraordinary - the sense of running on your'feet' and 'feeling the ground rather than running in cushioned trainers is amazing. It's hard to explain but maybe it's a bit like listening to beautiful music with ear defenders on and the sense of pure joy when you

Why not find some raw chocolate and see if that helps (or some dark vegan chocolate). Don't beat yourself up about it - find something that helps. Make sure you are eating enough - don't get hungry because that will make any cravings much worse

I am a qualified running coach and coach twice a week on a voluntary basis at my local running club. There is far more to coaching than being able to run oneself One of the first things to reconize is that one size does not fit all. Each person has their own unique requirments, skills and difficulties and must be treated individually. I would not let Harley near my runners, particularly

Great to see you here. Do the best you can each day but never feel like you've failed if you eat something which you had put off limits. It's very easy to feel a bit dismayed by reading some of the posts on here. Some of the folk here have been raw for years and really discuss minute details which are interesting but sometimes a way down the track from where one might be oneself!!! Like Co

I must respectfully disagree with WY I am a long distance runner and would like to reassure you that it's absolutely fine to keep running those distances. I would like to add that it does depend on the type of running that you do and here I will agree with WY that if you like to RACE or do endless interval training frequently over any distance you will put a big strain on your body. I

Gems - i don't know about the Holland and Barratt probiotics. I use OptiBac for daily well being and am having great results with them. They do one specially designed for IBS etc If you are having problems with IBS (and I have too in the past) I would avoid too many nuts or sprouted seeds /lentils anything like that - they are so very difficult to digest. That was my experience anywa

I didn't really feel any detox symptoms at all. I ate good fresh food before upping my raw intake a few years ago anyway. I agree far too much is put down to this umbrella word 'detox'. I've really only skimmed through the last few pages but one sentence that CK said resonated with me: ' Fat's very important. Without it, your appetite is never really satisfied, all you can think about is

I think the reason probiotics should be taken with food is to aid them getting to the small intestine without them being broken down by the acid in the stomach. By including food you introduce another substance for the stomach acid to work on. As I understand it probiotics are only as good as the capsule they are in - ie - they have to be able to withstand the rigours of the stomach acid to rea

Thank you WanderRA for posting that original article. I don't know David Wolfe but he sounds like a really nice man. I will have nothing to do with Harley's childish but damaging smear campaigns and will certainly not click on his link. I didn't know that about viewcounts and loyalties - it makes some of the silly headings more understandable now!!

Yep - powerlifer - the sad truth is that the UK is an alcohol fuelled land. It doesn't matter if it's ten pints of lager and throwing up on the pavement or a bottle of malt and wife beating behind closed upperclass doors - or a mixture of the two. It's a sad reflection of society in the UK. Europe does not share this binge drinking society - we export it abroad - to our shame. (sorry if thi

Chris and pborst - that was interesting reading and I really appreciated the respect and friendly tone that you showed each other - something that is often lacking on this board. Your topic has given me food for thought - thank you - I'm thinking about that stuff now for myself; I'm sure that doesn't happen when there has been an acrimonious interchange.
