Does the cooking process really destroy most of it? I looked up quinoa on CRON-O-Meter and it's high in B-vitamins as well as copper, magnesium, iron, manganese, phosphorous. If I were to replace 300 calories worth of quinoa with a mono fruit, I would then have to get the aformentioned vitamins and minerals from another source because the fruit (say, banana or watermelon) wouldn't satisfy the

Is it true your body still benefits from the omega-3's without chewing the seeds? I typically throw them in the coffee grinder but would like to cut out this process before I soak them if I could.

I never knew Chia Seed Oil existed in supplement form. Do you reckon it's worth it? It's a hassle for me to make the gel and then eat it. My only concern is freshness - I've read that the oil is not like flax in that it goes rancid quickly. Do you reckon chia oil in these supplements isn't rancid? Deva offer chia oil capsules and I've used their DHA in the past. Quality company it seems.

I also have high bilirubin (2.0) but my doc shrugged that off. This is related to gallbladder as well correct? My liver, spleen, pancreas showed up normal on an ultrasound, and blood labs were pretty good too except for the bilirubin. I've read people with Gilbert's Syndrome will have high bilirubin counts but it's hereditary and nothing to worry about. I'm obviously having symptoms related to th

** The gallbladder is distended. There are 2 echogenic nodule abutting the gallbladder wall measuring 4 mm and 3 mm each Findings suggest gallbladder polyps.*** Is this something to worry about? My doctor doesn't seem to think so since he ordered no more tests and told me to pick up some antibiotics for a stomach bacteria. Can these "polyps" disintegrate or pass through? I'm a

All I can seem to find out about it is that it contains "many trace minerals". Even then, I don't use it that much, so I wonder if I am getting enough iodine in my diet. I get cold too easily it seems. Bananas have some iodine - I reckon I get 10% daily value through that. What raw foods are you getting iodine from?

Thanks. I took a probiotic tablet before my green smoothie this morning and feel close to normal. I had trouble drinking my smoothies lately, it made my stomach hurt. I also read a lot of great things about Mastic Gum treating ulcers, gastritis, etc. I think I'll try that along with CS and probiotics.

I tested high in this after going to the doctor for right sided abdominal aches. I blame Whole Foods for their dirty produce (j/k). I know I can expect a script for antibiotics next - which I will not take - so how should I combat this?

The tea tree oil experiment failed. Really damaged the skin. Maybe I should've mixed it with olive oil. I'll wait for the skin to heal and try again.

Could this be appendicitis? My doc saw me for all but 6 minutes and told me I probably strained something. I asked why a mild fever the night before and he said he couldn't explain that. De ja vu. These aches are originating in the lower right abdomen and occurs in waves, some days more frequent than others. When it's not aching, it's just a dull feeling and tender to the touch. That's

I have been taking a Vit D supplement and Zinc (a mineral actually) and was wondering if there is a perfect time to take them. I've just been taking it after dinner. The zinc doesn't go down too well on an empty stomach.

I just made a green smoothie with 5 bananas and 5 persimmons. That's gotta be around 130g of sugar. But there was a handful of chard in there too with celery. Do you think is too much sugar in the body at once? Will the greens slow down the sugars? I feel fine but I just recently upped my fruit intake in these smoothies and noticed a few whiteheads on my face. I hope it's not because of the in

Are conventional fuyu persimmons high in pesticides? I can't seem to find organically grown, but I live in CA and a lot of these trees are around. Do they attract the little buggies? BTW - do you eat the skin of a fuyu? I've seen people peel them and don't know why.

OK. Sorry for not being more specific. What I mean is, for the leafy greens I do eat, is eating lettuce (exclusively) okay? Right now I enjoy romaine and green leaf (that seems to be what's most accessible). I have read from people like the Boutenkos to diversify your greens (kale, chard, spinach, etc) but I do not like eating the darker greens as they are, I find them bitter and just blech. I

Hey rawpreston, does the 80/10/10 book advocate green smoothies? I thought DG didn't advocate blending foods. I lean a lot toward this way of eating, but I haven't read the book nor am I willing to give up green smoothies . I drink two a day sometimes, and I always follow proper food combining.

I've read that MSM is best taken with vitamin C and some people take it with lemon juice and water, but I am wondering if I put it in my green smoothie --- since it's where I get most of my vitamin c from --- would it be absorbed as well due to all the other vitamins/minerals in the smoothie? I can't use lemon juice because it makes my skin itch like mad.
