All of this raw produce is starting to really stain my teeth. I'm not really into conventional teeth whiteners. Anybody have any natural solutions? Is baking soda a good idea or is it too abrasive? Thanks!

Gems- Personally, I happen to love David Wolfe, although many here don't much care for him. His Sunfood Success Diet book and Superfoods book are excellent, and the pages are brimming with enthusiasm as well as great information. I really resonate with him and his ideas. Is he perfect? No. But who is... You can also subscribe to his online magazine, wwwthebestdayever.com. It's $15 a month and

Good job gems! Try to steep yourself in "raw culture." Books, videos, forums... whatever you can get a hold of. This really helped me to overcome the powerful social programming instilled from birth, and provide a great structure of support for creating new, good habits that feel "normal."

I totally agree with HH. It wasn't easy, because I used to be the biggest carb junkie ever, but I have completely eliminated ALL grains from my diet, even the "good" ones. Wow. What a difference in my health. If you can do it, you'll be amazed at the results in how you feel.

That looks like a nifty little device. I totally agree with cherymoya_kid about fats and minerals. I also think that given the state of the soils where most produce is grown, this little gadget will only point out the inferior quality of the produce available. In my opinion, it is essential to supplement our diets with high quality minerals. I feel it's important to take these minerals in some so

I have a major allergy to any wheat products, and craved and ate them for many. many years. It was really a huge life-changing event to finally be off of them completely. Food allergies are the basis for so many health related conditions, and eliminating known allergens can improve one's health dramatically. If you suspect an allergy to wheat/gluten, it would be wise to do whatever you can to jus

Today is a new day, Vinny. I've had plenty of those SAD holidays, too. Put it behind you and move on Good job WY. I love dry fasting, although it's been a long time since I've done one. That's another great idea to deal with the feasting-type of holidays.

Such a great day today! Ever since I can remember, Thanksgiving has always been about the huge feast- tons and tons of food and gross overeating. This year I packed a nice, big, green smoothie laced with my favorite superfoods, and enjoyed it off to the side somewhere where I wasn't seen, and never had to explain myself. For me, it was the perfect strategy. I was full, I had energy and clarity, a

I like chlorella, too, and I alternate between them. They do different things. Like I said in an earlier post, for the amount of spirulina that I take, I'm not really all that concerned. For me, the health benefits outweigh all of these "maybe's." Personally, I really like Jameth Sheridan, and I just trust his products and feel good supporting his company. I was glad to see he has a spi

Hi Paul and Suncloud, You can go to healthforce.com and check it out. I love Dr. Sheridan. I've heard him speak before, he's the real deal and I trust him and his stuff. I just found this spiriulina the other day, and was so excited to see that it was one of his products, especially after all the recent comments here. The quality is definitely there, I can taste the difference. I don't mind

I found another good organic source if anyone's interested, and so I'm giving this one a try. "Health Force" advertises that their standards are "beyond organic." I haven't contacted the company, but according to the label, it seems like a trustworthy product. I've gotten other things from them, and really liked them. I believe the owner of the company, Dr. Sheridan, is a comm

I think Jodi has some good advice. I'll just add this: What has helped me to stay raw is to connect with some deeper spiritual reasons for this lifestyle. The people I know who have been raw for 18 years and counting have shared with me that there is no way that willpower alone could have kept them on this path. Knowing that it feels good, and intellectually understanding the reasons for eati

Maybe there are 2 different foods here that we're talking about: Chia sprouts and soaked chia seeds- They seem to have distinct differences/benefits. Think there's any truth to that idea? Or is one form of chia simply just better than the other?

I've seen those pinhole glasses online. It would be great to find them in a store, I want to try them on. Has anyone here ever used them? Did they help your eyesight? And does anyone know the theory behind how they work?

Thanks alot Tamukha and vermontnl! Excellent. I just have readers, but I want to get my vision back to normal without them. They say as we age, we "naturally" aren't able to read fine print. However, who has ever heard of a yogi (or yogini), who is in balanced and vibrant health, wearing glasses?? I don't buy it. There's a way to wean off my glasses, and achieve natural eye heath. I'm g

Prana, it's raw. However, even when exposed to higher temps when it dries out on rocks in a natural environment, it is so hardy that it retains nearly all of its nutrients. Here's another reason I love it... Algae, such as spirulina, has been around since the beginning of life on earth and is the basis and beginning of the food chain. Through photosynthesis, it converts sunlight into pure pro

For me, spirulina is a powerhouse of densely packed nutrition. If you want to google the benefits, you'll find lots of great stuff. This is a list I've been compiking: 65-70% complete protein (the highest concentration of any known food) Rich in vitamins A,B1,B2, B6, E, K and iron Rich source of chlorophyll, salts, and enzymes It is also rich in the following antioxidants: Beta-carotene

wow. That's pretty thorough, suncloud. I feel this food quality, like many others, has much to do with the source. I try and make sure to source the very best, no matter what food or supplement it is. I don't take massive amounts of spirulina on a daily basis, so I'm not concerned with the potential heath hazards that are cited here. For me, the benefits far outweigh the potential problems. Than

Hey jj2011- A couple of thoughts- First of all, I don't think anybody's comments on my thinness, fatness or whateverness would cause me to change my diet to avoid the comments. Whatever. Opinions are all over the place, and everyone has them. My family is definitely convinced that I am off the deep end with my diet, and I could really care less. I don't look like a skeleton, I am just thinn

I actually love spirulina, and I digest it really easily. It is a staple in my diet because of its enormous health benefits. I appreciated the links here, and feel that it does in fact utilize photosynthesis, and is plant enough for me. We all have our opinions, and not being so attached to the way others are choosing is another staple for me.

I've lost a lot of weight since going all raw a few months ago, and I've gotten pretty thin. However, I feel fantastic. At 51, I have way more energy than I've had since my 20's. This tells me that what I'm doing is good for me. The weight thing will level out. I look good. I'm just a little thin, but I really don't care about that. I feel great, and so I must not have needed that 20 or so pounds

I agree with Tamukha and HeavenHands. A week probably won't do much but get him into some heavy detoxing that he won't have enough days to complete.
