Yes, luna-sky, I read that as well. My husband also told me that he read that for an experiment, you should set a tub of margarine and a tub of real butter out in your garage. The butter will quickly turn moldy, but the margarine never changes. Yuck. Who wants THAT in their body?? No thanks.

333. Fats
I am getting a bit confused about fats, I guess. Right now, I use coconut oil, cod liver oil (I know it's not vegan, but it is a GREAT source of fat), hemp seeds, flax seeds and I eat a variety of nuts. How much fat is too much? Also, do I really NEED all these fats in my diet? Which ones should I eliminate?

I hope no one minds doing this, but I am interested in seeing what everyone eats on a daily basis. Maybe everyone could just post their meals for one day? I am looking to get some ideas so that I can make a few more changes to become 100% raw. Also, does anyone worry about counting calories? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. So maybe just keep adding one mroe raw food each week, or does it matter at which pace I do it, really? Can anyone tell me why it is NOT a good idea to just go 100% raw right away? Is it beause of the detox phase? Is it too much to handle if you go 100% raw right away?

For those of you that have been raw for a while, what are some of the tips you would give to a newbie for transitioning to all raw? I am trying to go into it slowly, but I guess I am just not sure how slow, or what I should do each week to make the transition. I would say that I am about 80% raw right now. And I am feeling pretty good...I don't really feel like I am going through a detox perio

Yes! We have been eating out of our garden for a few months now. Carrots, beets, tons of salad mixes, spinach, broccoli, sugar snap peas, tomatoes, cilantro, basil, and I think that is about it. I love it.

341. Bloated
I am in the process of switching to a raw foods diet...I would say that I am about 80% raw right now. I am really bloated all the time, especially at the end of the day. Is this normal? Is it just from all the fiber in the fruits and veggies I am getting, and will my body adjust?

David Mason - when you say a sympton of "trying to take in too much energy", what exactly do you mean? Lisa - here is a sample of what I eat each day: breakfast - a fruit smoothie made with our homemade kefir, some fresh fruit, coconut oil and some flax seeds. Snack - an Ezekial muffin with coconut oil on it Lunch - some sort of sprouted beans with raw rice, topped with to

Thank you so much for all the info. I will check out that website, and I do have raw wheat germ in my pantry already, so that will be added to my diet each day. And parsely...I will add it to my fresh salads from our garden! Thanks - Kim

I am not 100% raw yet (just started learning about all of this about 2 weeks ago). I would say that I am about 80-90% raw right now. For the past two weeks, I keep getting dizzy and VERY spacey. My head just does not feel right. If I eat something like a grapefruit, or some other fruit, I start to feel better. Is this a low blood sugar thing? Diabetes runs in my family (my mom and sister bot

Very interesting! I had no idea rice had to be sterilized. Makes me not want to eat it so much anymore. Maybe I will make the change to "wild rice". Also, do any of you know about the protein content of beans after they sprout? Does the protein content remain the same as when you cook the beans? Namaste, Kim

Are nuts sprouted the same way that beans are sprouted? I have not tried sprouting any nuts before. I bet they are delicious. Can any nut be sprouted?

My husband and I have been vegetarian for few years now, and I just started learning about a raw foods diet. I am working on switching us over to raw foods. So, how can we expect to feel? Are there any so called "side effects" when you get started on a raw foods diet? Should I make the change slowly? We did a colon cleanse two weeks ago, and a 7 day detox diet, and have always been ver

Hello, I am a "newbie" at this, so this is the first of many questions from me! My husband and I have been sprouting all sorts of beans, lentils, peas, etc. I am just curious if those provide the same amount of protein as they do when they are cooked? Maybe even more protein? Also, I am starting to eat raw brown rice, and I really like it. How long should I soak it? Anything e
