Going back to when we started cooking and eating meat - one theory (only a theory but the one I generally accept) is that we were happy forest dwelling fruit eaters (with maybe insects) with big brains. Then some kind of disaster (unknown) happend which destroyed a large amount of the forests we lived in. As adaptable creatures, we went out onto the plains and started eating and cooking meat to

I think the Wikipedia article on goji (wolf) berries is intertesting: It sort of gives both sides, but an interesting point I thought was that they are used in Chinses medicine for centuries and are discusses in writings from the 7th century - By the way, I'm a goji berry fan, I eat them daily and sell them in my online shop! I have heard (but not researched myself yet) that a very closely related species to goji berries one grew in England (and maybe still does if there are any truly wild places left). This lead on to the idea that it might be possible to grow goji berries in England... I must do more research. Rob

Well, I drink sunlight everyday, but through my eyes rather than my mouth. See although I'm not sure about the stuff about never eating again, I think we have a digestive system and delicious fruits so that we can eat them! Rob

At the moment I eat quite a lot of bananas. I try and eat as much local fruit as possible, but there's not too much here in England. When I lived in Spain, virtually all of my food was local and I didn't eat many bananas at all. So, now, I'm eating mangos, bananas, oranges, cherries, lychees, melons, persimons, papaya, etc, etc, really as large a selection as I can get my hands on. I love d

Hey Lisa Rawberry isn't just "a fasting retreat". Steve (the organiser) is planning at least one day (maybe more can't remeber) but the rest of the time there will be communal meals. I'm thinking of going but not sure yet! Rob

Hi Jeff Just to give the other side, I eat a high fruit diet with lots of greens and some fats. I don't work out percentages, but here's an idea of what I eat: fruit for breakfast fruit for lunch large salad with lots of wild greens (about 150 grams), a large avocado and a couple of tablespoons of flax oil and some veggies, celery, spring onion, red pepper, carrot, etc for dinner Snack

Hi Kel My landlord is a raw vegan and he has several houses in South East London. He tries to get raw/vegan people in his houses (but obviously takes other people as well because there aren't enough raw people!) You can find the details on his website, , he's not got any vacancies listed but it's worth calling him and he will give you priority if you are raw/vegan. cheers Rob

There is a lady in Leeds who organises raw potluck kind of things, she is listed in the Funky Raw magazine. I don't think it's a good idea to post her phone number on an open forum, but if you email or PM me I'll send it to you. Rob - rob@funkyraw.com

Ok, I don't *know* the details, I just go on what I feel - if I'm buying greens, I will always buy organic (although usually I pick wild ones). I also like to get organic mushrooms. I hear that strawberries are very heavily sprayed and avocado are not too bad. There is a web site which lists all this but I can't remember it. Just done a quick search on Google and come up with this: R

Just because a fruit is acidic does not mean than the effect on the body will be to make it more acidic. Lemons are a good example, they are acidic but they are alkalising to the body. There is some debate about oranges, but charts on the internet suggest they are alkalising - see the chart towards the end of this page: My own experince suggests that they do not cause an acidic effect on th

You don't need a recipe book to know how to eat an apple or banana or any single piece of fruit! So the recipe books fill that gap for the other stuff, maybe you'd eat something from a recipe book once a day while transitioning. Rob

You need to make sure you haven't eaten anything for at least two hours before you do that kind of litmus test, otherwise you will get the reading of the food and/or changes in the saliva to start digesting the food. Rob

Yes, you can eat them and they are delicious. The zucchini grows from the flower so you should only pick the male flowers (cos only the female ones grow) or after the fruit has grown you can eat the flower. Rob

Well, according to the chart on this site (towards the bottom): most fruits are alkalising. I've been eating a hight fruit diet, with plenty of greens, for about 4 years now and it works wonderfully for me, as it seems also to do for lots of people. I think the important thing is to eat a balanced diet including sweet fruit, non-sweet fruit, greens and fats (esp making sure you get your

I don't use olive oil because it's made from unripe olives. If it's cold pressed, I don't think it will be pasturised. Rob

Olives are only "natural" if they are sun dried. Otherwise they are not ripe and some form of process (often with salt) is used to make them edible. Rob

What's the problem? If we were all living "natural" lives then we'd all be nakked, like all the other creatures on this planet. It's only constructs of this crazy society that makes seeing a pic of a penis a problem. Rob

In general I'm not into oils, but I do use flax oil, I think it's important for the omega 3's. I eat quite a bit more than 10% fat, probably getting on for 20% and it works great for me. Everyone is different, see what works for you. Rob

I'm in training to be a wild monkey boy. I have this dream to leave human "civilisaton" behind completly and go and live in a tropical forest with the monkeys! I don't think I'll ever go that far but I do plan to buy a bit of land and live as simple a life as possible and as self-sufficient as possible. Rob
