Why do all the other raw vegans not die then because they are not eating DHA directly? A friend of mine who is a bio-chemist is certain that we can convert omega 3's from plant foods to DHA, even reccomending another friend of mine to stop taking vegan DHA suppliments because our bodies are not designed to take DHA directly, they are designed to convert omega 3's to DHA. I'd definatly concur in changing the cod liver oil for flax oil. As well as the ethics, fish are often contaminated with PCBs and other nasty toxins. Rob

I had my first strawberry from the garden today! (Although the rest look like they will be a while before they are ready.) There are wild greens in the garden including Jack by the Hedge, Sow Thistle and Dandelion. I've planted tomatoes and basil which are both doing well. Not much of the other stuff seems to have come up. We've also got plums and apples which will give some fruit later

If you are already eating 80% raw then I don't see a problem with going straigh to 100%. Especially as you have been eating high raw for a while. Rob

It's not like I went searching for it or anything. I was stood in a queue for cooked food (!) and started chatting to the person in front of me who turned out to be a raw fooder (well, mostly!). Rob

I randomly met someone at a festival about 4 years ago who introduced me to raw foods. Since then my raw journey has mostly involved real life raw fooders and a large proprtion of my friends are raw or partly raw. The internet plays its part but it's real life that counts (for me at least!). Rob

It depends on what you want out of a relationship. Would you consider living together in the future? If so, could you share a house with someone smoking and eating meat? If it's never going to be that serious then less of a problem. Rob

I'm pretty sur eit would be here in England.

I can regularly walk 8 to 10 miles a day and think that's quite normal. When other people look at me strange when I say I just walked to so and so then I guess that walking this much must be helped by my diet! Rob

I love watermelon too! When I lived in Spain I sometimes lived on just watermelon for a couple of days at a time! Alex Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Watermelon is also a high iron food being so red. Not true. Acording to Nutritiondata.com it contains 0.2mg of iron for a 100g serving, which is not much at all. Bryan, I just checked the Tryptop

I just thought, I'd like to define "drug" because I think my definition might be different to some other people: refined sugar, cooked wheat = drugs (stuff which humans have messed around with, processed, etc) raw cacao, raw cannabis = not drugs (plants in a fairly natural state) Rob

Well, from talking to people on here and in real life it seams that when it comes to what cacao does to people, there are two very distinct groups - some find cacao has a very negative effect on them and others find it healthful. I eat raw cacao and it does not make me feel like I've "been poisoned" and it does not take me "out of natural high". Saying things like "a

It's also a great way of getting people interested in raw food. When people hear you are raw they go, oh so you can't eat this and you can't eat that and you can't eat chocolate. Wrong. We can eat amazing chocolate. I have a friend who has a shop in Brighton (England) called Raw Magic, they sell all sorts of raw stuff but their speciality is chocolate. I was talking to someone (non-raw) the

Often if you can't get a food organically, it might be out of season, which is another reason for not eating it. Rob

I don't know where people are getting these bizzare figures from. If something was 90% iron, it would be a piece of metal and there would be no way we could eat it. Waterchesnuts are 70-80% water, as with a lot of our foods. See: and According to Nutrition Data, canned (cooked I assume) water chesnuts have 3% iron. And a raw type of waterchessnut has 0% iron. Bryan, I'm concerned that the figure from FitDay is just plain wrong. I've just been to Fitday and confirmed that's what it says but I also went to NutritionData.com and it says the same lettuce is 18% protein. But it also says that it has 95% moisture content. So my guess is that the 18% protein must be 18% of the remaining 5% which comes to 0.9% of the content by weight of lettuce is prot
