Just learned from a friend who had traumatic brain injury that getting plenty of oil is critical because, she said, the brain is made of fats. I was talking to her about my mom's stroke. Lot's of coconut oil. Flax and/or fish oil, too.
Whether raw food can help brain injury. . . ? Do you best to eat real food and take heart. Recovery is possible!

Consider that having a balance between fruits and veggies may be more important that whether it is raw. How are you doing now? I try to eat a balance of sweet and savory. I consider un-soaked nuts to be a sweet food. I also eat sprouted grains that germinate for a day or so. I add salt. Rice and sesame mixed seems great because it has plenty of complex carbs, oils, and protein. Sesame is a

Yes, recent dental problems have given me more interest in topic. My issues seem to stem more from falling off of my diet, though. The whole issue of dental hygiene seems so important, though. Many may have concerns that their lack of concern about hygiene might be misguided, since rawfoods can make you less concerned. Kind of an irony there.

Sounds like you faced quite a crisis! Keep up the good work. I have posted a lot just today, and would encourage you to check out other people seeking advice as new to raw, under this forum. Keep in mind you body's needs for sufficient amounts of nutrition and a need for balance between sweet and savory foods. My personal philosophy is that chewing my food is optimal, rather than making smoot

I eat sprouted rice and sesame, with salt, as I like to chew my food and feel a need to have all the complex carbs, oils, and protein that my spout mix provides. Chewing takes time, but fruits come in handy when in a rush, as does the knowledge that sprouts get digested more easily, which allows for multitasking during meals, if needed.

I congratulate you. I have posted a bunch today and you might look for those in this forum. I eat a lot or rice and sesame sprouts, with salt. I have a degree in nutrition and have a mindset that gives importance to having plenty of protein and calories. Do you feel the same? Raw food in the form of sprouted grains can take a longer time to chew and therefore turn people away, or just take t

10. Re: Hi All
I like eating sprouted rice and sesame, with a bit of salt added, also plenty of fruit. I made a few recent posts in this forum that you might look for.
I have a degree in nutrition, and know that what some science says is that you need to keep up you calories and protein. Raw foods will make your digestion more efficient, usually, and you may feel satisfied with less. Moreover, getting en

Good for you, to have found a motivation and potential avenue toward your goal. Keep your balance and enjoy the bounty of varieties of raw. I eat sprouted grains- rice and sesame. I soak them for five hours or so, let them germinate for a day or so, and add salt. The sesame provides lots of oil to add plenty of calories to burn. Sesame is also really high in calcium and magnesium, both essen

Keep your balance. Cravings come from your body's needs, and maybe just getting enough to eat will satisfy your cravings. Over twenty years of trying to go raw, I can say that bad foods still tempt. I still fail. But I turn that into a positive by seeing the larger picture of increased wisdom. We exist as more than our diet. Maybe shoot for 50%, at first.
I sprout rice and sesame for a c

Raw in the dorm! What a challenge. You will need a place to prepare food!
I have a simple diet of sprouts, fruits, and limited veggies. You can soak seeds and allow them to germinate in your room. A fridge would be good.
Do you have questions about sprouting? What kinds of successes have you had? Challenges? Try to get a balance of fruits and veggies- maintaining both sweet and s

Big question is what you are used to. If you are a smoker, drinker, fried food and meat eater, with a stressful lifestyle, then you might need to "take it easy", satisfy yourself, and make a paradigm shift that honors your body without punishing it. Not that a detox is punishment, but start with love. See how your desires are towards foods and realize the risks of cutting them out to

Hello, Heather (Feather)!
I am a native Angelino, attended UCR, and have a long term rawfood commitment. I currently live out of state, but have considered returning. My family still lives there; a brother in Pasedena and a parents in WLA. I live simply and don't require much, so maybe it would work out.

In response to human skeleton. I am six foot and 150 lbs. Maybe the dry fast has more to do with weight loss than vegan diet?!
What I want to say: Eat a balance of fruits (including seeds) versus vegetable (leaf, stem, root, and flower). Include sprouted seeds with vegetable part of balance. Fungal and bacterial foods- yeast and algae- remain an open question to me, as to how they fall
