Like Prana said, composting of food scraps is the way to go. I put about 18 inches (it will compress over time with composting) of dry organic matter (hay, brush, straw, etc.) at the bottom of my compost bin to act as a biological sponge to catch any seepage. I layer food scraps with dry matter and always make sure the top is covered with dry organic matter also (hulls, straw, shredded newspape

Every body's mouth is different. Yeah, yeah, the dentists I believe say it for money! They told me and my son also. We both still have our wisdom teeth, I am 53, my son is 23. My suggestion is to massage the gums around the wisdom teeth (which by the way take a long time to come in and it is a little sensitive in the process). Do you feel there is enough room? (Works like a charm to fac

In my opinion, if it's not labeled organic, likely sawdust is the closest. Btw composting takes 'inorganic' and cleans it up, bioremediation...

Hi Mindy, Browns are anything that is dry. I have used leaves, the shells of dried beans and peas, brassica seed pods, straw, hay (if the compost is hot enough, it will kill weed seeds), hulls of sunflower seeds, sawdust (this is what I mostly use when in a pinch), kraft paper, shredded plain newprint paper, dried plant materials, etc....

Yes, there is much one can do! 1. Find pressure points anywhere, pelvis, thigh, leg, foot, and hold at a slightly more than uncomfortable but not too painful pressure with no movement until the sensation is normal or the pressure has diminished or there is some release like heat, vibration, twitch, etc. 2. Hold the affected limb at the foot and give a slight light pushing pressure (no movem

You may want to study up on composting. Bottom line is compost works best with 20 parts dry/brown to 1 part wet/green by weight.

Hi Mindy, Heirloom usually means non-hybrid. Many, even, organic growers are growing out hybrid seed. Personally I do not like it either. So, one needs to know the variety name to know if the crop is from open pollinated seed. When one buys food from a store, including co-ops, etc., the variety name is often not listed. Apples and other fruit are named because many are grafted varieties onto an

Yep, formaldehyde. I am being expose to it at work right now (brand new building materials gassing off) and these sound like symptoms to me (we are now wearing respirators and goggles). My father worked around it his whole adult life and he is 82 now with non-cancerous tumors throughout his body including on most major organs. He does not eat like I do.

Personally I do not like to use any plastics in my fermentation processes!!! I like the german crock and I also use glass jars with glass lids. Yes to much of what was said above. And I also use only whole salts when I do ferments.

Hi again bw, Sure but I would put some pebbles or small rocks in the bottom so that there is some drainage for the plant when you water. Do not overwater your plant, water when necessary.

I do not have a lot of time but will add at this time: To manually exercise the lymphatic system, one pulls the skin (without sliding over the skin) lightly towards the heart rhythmically, starting closest to the heart, positions retrograde (especially towards the area of any congestion) . This stimulates the lymphangions (yes, smooth muscle with innervation (nerve supply)) to contract and the

pumpkins- I grow Kakai pumpkins, a naked seed variety grown for the seed only. I haven't tasted the flesh. The seed has no hulls. And this year I am growing a winter squash called Musque de Provence that you slice and eat raw. I only have one. It is not ready yet. I probably won't grow it next year. Too long a season for my climate.

yeah, tomatillos in my raw salsa, yum! Also make salsa ferment for longer storage by just adding 2 tbsp whole salt to quart of salsa. And like a gazpacho with tomatoes, cukes, tomatillos, etc with either cilantro, parsley, basil or other green.

I tend to make my smoothies out of fruits (cukes, etc.) and greens. Rarely I have roots (radish) and greens for a smoothie. But fruits and roots I am not so sure about! How do you feel about this combination of starchy vegetables (roots) and fruited veggies (cukes, zuchs, tomatoes, etc.)?

Hi again bw, Tomatillos take a long time to fruit. It may just be a matter of time. I started mine early indoors in the spring, transplanted after the last frost (here in VT in late May this year - didn't want to take any chances) and my plants are just starting to make fruits, on some plants bigger ones than others. Tomatillos have perfect flowers and can self-pollinate. This is usually

So last year my friend asked me if I would talk to her neighbor who had gone to conventional doctors to determine why he wasn't feeling well, though he kept healthy lifestyles in general. The first year they told him it was gastroesophogeal reflux and told him to take tums, the next year when he went back and said he wasn't feeling better, they gave him a perscription remedy. The following year

I do body/emotion work. I have helped many couples with this issue by putting my hands on the woman's body at the level of the uterus and ask that organ to talk to us and what the issue really may be. Do you have access to someone who does 'somatoemotional' work or 'craniosacral therapy'?
