Hi Earthangel and everyone, I've been super busy at school. I haven't had time to do much of anything. I take one test a week in one class or another. Never fails. I have a test this thurs and took another one today. I don't know if I'll have one next week, but I wouldn't be surprised. If not, it'll be the first week in 9 since to be test-free. As far as being raw goes, I'm still good.

Hi everyone, I'm doing better. But I went on a falafel binge yesterday. I can't believe it!!!!I was doing so well. I think what happened was my body was cleansing out some fried food residue and that set off the craving. It was overwhelming and I gave in. Hmmm... now what do I do next time? Well, turn it all over to my higher power, drink lots of water, and sleep. That was suggested to m

Hey, Earthangel, I wondered where you'd been. I've been sick the last couple of weeks. This seems to happen to me twice a year. This time, it's bronchitis, again. I used to get it 3 times a year, now it's down to twice yearly. I fasted four days to get rid of it, but who knows what I really got rid of. I'm still coughing but at least my temp is gone and I have more energy. So, I'm tr

Hi Karen, I'm feeling better, thank you. I had a high temp when I was talking to him and didn't think of those points at the time. You're right about them and hopefully I'll think of them when and if it comes up again. Best wishes, Mona Look back and be grateful, look ahead and be hopeful, look around and be helpful.

Hello everyone, This week I fasted for two and a half days. Then, two days later I got really sick. Even though I’ve been raw for three years, I still get terribly ill. I have a sore throat and awful migraine. For years I lived on aspirin and heavy duty pain killers before going raw. I’m hoping that my body is releasing some of those meds and healing in such a way that I won’t get i

Well, it's been a while since I wrote because I've had family here for the last 2 1/2 weeks and little computer time. I've been able to remain raw, except for one or two lunches. I was tempted every time we went into a restaurant. I still get the urge to eat some wonderful smelling cooked food, esp. fried. It was very hard in many restaurants we went to. Some of the salads had steamed or boi

Thanks for venting for me, Karen. Yeah, she was much better today, but still..... It was the last day and no more teachin' for me, at least for a year. The students gave me a couple of really pretty aprons and towels for the kitchen as a thank you gift. Several people told me they learned a lot and hope I teach again. That was really nice. Since I start school again next month, I will be

I have one more class to teach and it's tomorrow. I'm discovering how to let go and let someone do her own thing with my food. (Note: I wrote it's MY food!) Yesterday I showed the class how to make "Stuffed Red Peppers" which I got from rawguru.com and "Carrots, Mint and Raisin Salad" which I'm not sure where I got. Anyway, one woman told me that she would take the filling

I use the Complete Book of Raw Food. It has lots of excellent recipes by different chefs. I've been using it for some of the recipes I teach in a raw food preparation class I'm teaching right now. The students I have love it. I also got a lot of recipes on line that I use for the class from the links below. www.aniphyo.com feralfoods.org/video.html Enjoy! Mona Courage is the abi

Some men just go bald. My husband lost his hair in his 30's--family trait. Diet related or gene related? Don't know. If he's eating a variety of fruit, veggies, some dulse, nuts and seeds, he's probably getting all the nutrients he needs. If he's eating food he loves in that food group, he's eating what his body wants him to eat. I've found that if I love it, I need it. when I no longer l

In response to your constipation and grumpiness: A lot of our emotions come up through detoxing. We also detox our feelings of pain, anger, resentments, etc. I also get grumpy when I first eat too many spicy gourmet raw. Then it settles down and I'm OK again. Are you eating fruit for breakfast or delaying your first meal of the day? That will help with the healing process, too, besides he

Hi Pam, I had IBS when I started raw. (this is in response to your 7/12 post) I started juicing and it took several months before things finally started to firm up a bit and I could see and feel the changes. I wasn't raw 100%, more like 75% at the time. Sounds like you're doing great. I love wheatgrass juice. The first time I had it I asked if they put sweetner in it. It was sooooo swe

Hello everyone. Hope this is the best day ever! Everything went well with my classes this week. The first class was really small, but they loved the food. The second class was a little larger and they enjoyed the food, too. They had lots of questions about my diet. They couldn’t believe I don’t eat meat, fish, chicken, dairy products, or any grains or beans. It’s such a new way of t

HI everyone. I¨m on vacation today with a weird keyboard that has all kinds of foreign keys. I´m not sure how to use it for English stuff, so I keep hitting strange things. anyway, I´m doing good. I was really sick the first week of my vacation. I¨m much better now. I feel better after eating simple foods and very little salt. I also fasted for a couple of days which was a big help.

Hi mamafrey. The fasts have fallen by the wayside for right now. I've been concentrating on getting recipes and have had so much food around the house, I think I have to eat it all before it goes bad! Ha ha. Well, I probably need to fast for a couple of days because I'm eating poor combinations as well as lots of salt. Hi earthangel. I have been eating desserts lately. I'm making a deep di

Thanks, earthangel. The syrup I used is 6 dates and about a inch of chopped ginger soaked in a little water for about 6 hours. Blend it well, and you got syrup. I love the ginger flavor. I have about 8 more recipes I plan on testing. It's all to much. Part of me will miss these recipes when I finish the class and go back to more mono meals. But right now I feel so stuffed. I've been e

Welcome, Mamafrey. Glad you're here. Sorry to hear you're struggling with your health. Also sorry to hear about your daughter. Hope she's looking into raw food to help her, too. How old is she? I truly believe now that there is one cause and one cure. You can explore more of that idea on www.rawfoodexplained.com. It's a great site that teaches along the lines of Natural Hygiene. I sta

I'm trying to become more aware of my emotional eating. For example, today I had mangos and frozen bananas for brunch. I had made a syrup with dates and ginger, poured it over thinly cut mangos and marinated them for about an hour. Made ice cream with the bananas and topped it with the mangos in syrup. (This is one of the recipes I'm testing for the class I'll be teaching.) It was yummy, but I

Thanks you, both, for your kind words. This week I've been eating tons of terrific meals I made from recipes. This is for a vegan food preparation class I'm teaching next month. I've got enough for about three classes now, and need more recipes for the other three. What I've noticed is how finely tuned my body has become. I don't normally eat a lot of recipes, like I did when I was with

Thanks, David. That's a big help. You have terrific information on your site that I will definitely use. You will be getting credit for it, too. Everyone has been coming up with so many wonderful ideas. I really appreciate it. Good thing I have a couple of weeks to process everything first. It's starting to come together. I love testing new recipes for this, but I'm not used to eating

Thanks for the great ideas, Joy. I love the idea of sprouts. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that sprouts don't do well in the tropics. Sprouting was easy for me when I lived in the States, but I can't sprout much of anything here. Shame because I miss it. Thanks for suggesting it. I also love the idea of dessert class. I've never made a pie, but I'm in the process of testing recipes

Thanks, everyone. Great ideas. We pretty much have to stick with what we get here since there is no great imports of fresh food here. I used to take West Indian cooking classes and ate at cook-outs with them before I went raw, so I'm really familiar with their tastes. That's what's making me nervous. I know that raw is completely different in flavors, texture and appearance. I like the ide

I have never taught a raw food class before and I was asked to teach 6 classes on vegetarian cooking. But I'm changing it to raw food because I can't get myself to prepare food I wouldn't eat. I've never been to a raw food class myself so have no idea how to go about it. I know I'll be asked about my diet so I want to be prepared. I've already put a plea in for recipes and menu ideas in the re

I was recruited to teach vegetarian cooking at my church, but I can't get myself to teach anything that's cooked. I know too much now to do that. Plus, I've been raw for 3 years and don't want to prepare anything I wouldn't eat. This morning people were asking me about it and they're looking forward to learning so they can loose weight. I'm looking for your favorite recipes that I might use.

I'm back. I haven't had a phone or ability to go on-line for almost two weeks. Well, that was finally fixed yesterday. I've been able to stay raw except for when I went to a friend's house last Saturday night. I couldn't stay away from some of the cooked food and had about a tablespoonful of it. I'm not doing very well about staying away from nuts. It's really an adiction for me. I get re

Sorry to have missed you both. I left Boston on May 18. My daughter lives in Malden so I'm bound to return, hopefully next year. I'm trying to see her every year. There's others in the Boston area. If you do a search, you may find them. Good luck. Hope the two of you meet and become great friends. Mona

I tried to post earlier, but it disappeared on me, so I’m trying again. Hello everyone. I’m doing much better, thank you. I only fasted for two days because my hubby got really worried. He doesn’t believe in fasting or eating a raw food diet, but I do. It’s not easy to live with a sceptic. Well, I think I got so sick because I was using so many recipes to help my daughter see how

I'm back. My trip was great. I love the grans. They're so cute. And the new baby is beautiful. I was able to eat raw the whole time I was there. Not a problem at all. I even got to meet a new rawfoodist friend and visit one I had met previously. It was all great. Came home feeling very sick. Had a sore throat and just needed to lay down. I've been fasting for the last couple of day

I'm in. I've been 100% this time since April 20, But I love having and giving support to eachother. I tend to be 100% about 29 days each month. It's that one to two days where I slip that I want to eliminate. This may help keep me motivated. Best of luck to all of you. Mona

Hi Earthangel and everyone, I've been busy with the kids. My granddaughter is so beautiful and tiny. She was a bit premie, so she's small for her age right now. I've been able to stay 100% raw. Yeah! They don't eat raw, but my daughter loves the food I prepare. The older kids like some of it, however they are really young and prefer macaroni and cheese. Hubby wants his meat and grains
