I love these.
I pour the water into a blender, scoop out the meat and add it into the blender, then a bit of vanilla bean and (your choice of) non white sugar sweetener.
It's a milkshake. I could drink these all day.

This article seems anecdotal to me. Are there studies that substantiate this "My friend Jeremy says" testimony?
I tried some raw cacoa and didn't really notice any effect at all. So I tried eating more of it next time and still didn't notice any effect.

Rainbow girl, I'm an artist myself and new to raw foods, would like to have a pen pal to communicate with. I teach art (oil and acrylics) through our local collage. Have rooms full of paintings I did myself or gifts from friends. what kinds of art do you do?

I'm in my 8th week raw and feeling a bit as an outcast. Anyone near Roseburg, Oregon? Would love to get together for support etc.
I was an outcast before going raw, so doing so has made me even more so. But, I'm alright about that.
However, if you are in my area, would love to meet with you.

Islandgirl, I did a search on female hair loss and nutrition.
It looks to be a temporary thing, the hair follicles do not die, so I'd be hopeful that this will stop.
Here's a quote I found that might be helpful...
"Non-hereditary hair loss occurs mostly in women and is predominately caused by hormonal disorders (pregnancy, menopause) by uncommonly stressful situations and overtiredn

9. Maca
Any good suggestions for eating/drinking maca? I don't want to put it into my smoothies and ruin the taste. Can anyone think of something to put it in that's a smallish drink?

10. Re: pears....
Okay, here's my rhymie poem about pears, writen after the fact...
On day one I beheld my blessed pear tree
and marvelled at the grand harvest
the Good Lord had given to me.
I picked and bagged at least seven score,
dragged out my ladder
and bagged seventy more.
On day two I began to juice and puree
these lovely orbs with ginger, apple
and mint, a lot of pears I

Maca is supposed to be good for female hormone balance, so you might research that a bit. I just got some for the very same thing. I've never taken HRT, and I'm hoping this will help with the few minor symptoms I have.

Your welcome Islandgirl.
Since I am new to raw, I purchased this form of wheatgrass before I understood much of anything let alone the effects of freezing. Nevertheless, this product seems good enough for me. Two cubes and I'm happy and energetic for hours.
I am now growing my own, however, these are great in the am when I don't have time to juice and clean the juicer.

Here it is. It's spendy until you break it down to serving size, compared to a smoothie bar that is.

Islandgirl, no, it's liquid frozen. It's packed into these little round shapes, you cut off one or two and place them in a glass with a little water and then just drink. It tastes great. Really nice when I'm pressed for time and can't juice my growing grasses.

Islandgirl, although I am now growing my own (it's really easy to do), I got some that had been flash frozen. I bought it online. It has a good umph.

I tried your recipe JJ, it was great, had to play around with the amount of ginger, but I got it. Very tasty and refreshing with a zing!
(I would have put that into a poetical form if I had the time)

17. Re: Coconut
I concur with islandgirl, they make wonderful smoothies.
Crack it open, pour the water into the blender, spoon out the meat and add it to the blender.
This is a great drink.
You can add other fruit (I add blueberries sometimes). Sometimes I add a little agave and vanilla.

I'm in my 5-6th week raw and everyone is telling me that my eyes look different.
Always were just blue. Some said they see green, two today said that they are blue/grey now.
So I took a look when I got home and I now see blue/green.
This is amazing!

I'm hooked on wheatgrass too Exotic islandgirl.
I can buy the wheatgrass from one store and use my GS juicer to extract it, but I've seen the manual ones around and they are much more inexpensive.
I'm now growing my own in two different ways. I'm using a sprouter, with 1/2 soil, and since I had these containers from the store, I thought, what the heck, and filled them with soil, threw some

I was hungry a lot the first two weeks. I found that an avocado helped fill me up.
I'm now in week 5 and the hunger part has passed. Nuts and seeds and avocados help when I do get too hungry.
But if I eat more than a few of these, I get too full now. I was sort of in unbelief when I read here that nuts can be too filling, but I get it now.
So you might try the seed/nuts/avocado route

Hey, I have catnip growing at my house also! I can eat this? How? Can I just put this into my smoothie?
I had a friend drop by my house the other day who told me that virtually everything in my yard is edible, except some white flowers (he said most white flowers are poisonous), including my grass.
I wasn't sure whether or not to believe him.
Anyway, I would love to try the catnip in

Well, I finally got my cleaver and was able to open my coconut up on the first try, it's pretty easy.
I blended the water, meat, aguave, vanilla, ice and some wheatgrass juice to make a milkshake, very delicious.

When I went raw about 4 weeks ago, my son was more of less neutral about the idea.
He is a manager of about 30 personal trainers at a large gym in a major city. He trains the trainers and considers himself pretty knowledgeable in nutrition (that would be SAD nutrition though), and does nutrition training as well. He also has his own clientele at the gym. He used to do this in the military f
