I recently learned that mushrooms have a substance which might be considered a new vitamin. Its in a few other things, but mushrooms seem to be the best source. I love mushrooms, but most seem to require some cooking. Are there kinds that don't require cooking? What about boiling? The substance is supposed to be heat stable, but the heat is supposed to destroy a toxin in some mushrooms. A

Carnosine is in sprouts? How would one safely ferment something? It seems like there is always something. I did a search for carnosine, and already there are critical posts by omnis about how there is yet another concern about plant based diets. How real is this? is this substance really not available to vegans? Is it really proven to be essential? or extremely beneficial?

Just yesterday I heard about how the human gut in general contains the highest amount of microbial life anywhere on the planet. If that is so, could a person get carnosine from this naturally occuring source of microbial fermentation? I suppose the answer is no? given that a supplement is recommended?

Vermont, well, I was under the influence of my partner and his family. But we are now more in synch going vegan. He said something which I didn't understand. Hes critical of it thinking that its not a wonder because he still has some problems. He pointed out that I still complain about somethings. I did gain a lot of benefits in a short time, but I think I plateaued. Its easy to forget the gains

Therese, I just remembered a way easier, and probably way safer grounding method. You can attach a wire loop around a metal pipe, as metal plumbing is grounded as long as it is continuous with the earth. Most people only get grounding when they are taking a shower or a bath. A swim in a natural body of water is also a source of grounding. I suppose you could run a wire directly to the ground

Life 101, Here is a link about outlets. It explains which is ground. MIght be different in other countries than the US. Chain mail...LOL, I am imagining wearing that at the computer. It would work if one had a significant skin contact, probably not too comfortable. If there were a finer grade more akin to fabric that would be much better. Seek and you shall find...fine chainmail shirt.

Life 101, I'm not completely raw. I had attempted it several years ago, but I think it was too much to adjust to all at once. So, I have gone vegan, or nearly so. I am discovering that animal products creep into so many items, its difficult to check for every ingredient, and I discover that sometimes the product contains it...or 'might' contain dairy or something else... But I am removing them w

Has anyone eaten fresh watermeal? It seems interesting, I am surprised its not already available here for consumption. I don't know if it could be eaten alive and raw. Sometime ago someone had suggested an aquatic plant powder or concentrate. I cant remember the product name, or even the name of the plant. Its supposed to be a fantastic source of calcium and reportedly b12. If anyone can

Coconut cream, Someone mentioned electromagnetic forces and pregnancy. There are grounding pads one can order online or possibly obtain in health food stores. That is supposed to help. One could also stand on the ground barefoot and get the same results, but most people don't get enough direct contact with the earth to get effective grounding.

What about sunflower greens? I am considering starting to grow sunflower greens. And lentil sprouts and fenugreek. I am especially interested in fenugreek for the smell it imparts to the body. Some say it makes people smell like maple syrup.

Coconutcream, Well, you already are beautiful and amazing. I am sure you are a very loving parent. I cant imagine what that must be like deciding with another person how to raise children, especially with such different ideas about food and other aspects of life. As for my own relationship, its pretty amazing. We are suddenly totally in Sync! and we both went vegan. Our diet includes cooked i

sounds like my mother in law also. Its SCARY what doctors tell her! They advise her to avoid dates because of the sugar...meanwhile she eats pound cake, white flour banana bread etc...and uses artificial sweetners...huh? In theory she should avoid fresh bananas because of the sugar, but she does eat them regularly (thank god) because the doctor prescribed them. But dates are a better source of K

195. Oregano
I recently discovered that my sweat smells a bit like oregano. Its funny however that I have not eaten any in several weeks. However, I have recently been eating a lot of plant materials. I guess its the components of plants. I found it so funny, and I thought of the deodorant 'old spice'. Maybe men should smell of spice of some type naturally.

Rab, I was raised in a Christian sect, but I don't believe in it now for a number of reasons. What they said about food, I don't believe in, as its very mainstream and 'sad' or at least omnivore. But it wasn't for nutritional needs, but some weird doctrinal reason. The average Christian in the united states is in the dark about nutrition and real food, as is the general population.

Hello everyone, Its been awhile, I had a visit for several months to a year on basically a sad diet. I experienced some pretty terrible things. I had a hospital visit that I am pretty sure was caused by consuming an animal product. But its taken a few months for me to put 2 and 2 together. In fact the hospital didn't figure it out with all the elaborate tests. And at that point neither me or th

Jazzymetal, Its been awhile since I have posted here. I think there is a lot to be desired in conventional nutrition. I found this website by Michael Greger, which made me really question my perception of nutrition. For example, I never knew how standard nutrition came to their amino acid/protein recommendation. Here is a link which shows a major problem with traditional views on protein 'quali

I imagine that if one looked at everything with a microscope, one can find all types of animal life in fruits, veggies and similar items. I heard some people parboiling and peeling stawberries to attempt to avoid larva. Not for being kind, but for avoiding insect life for other reasons.

Rawpracticalist, People will believe whatever they want to believe, and yes, it may not be consistent or make sense. It may also be something you don't want them to believe. Rawgosias suggestion is probably the best I have heard yet. I wasn't saying what I was saying as in supporting it...just saying thats what I have observed many christians belief.

Madinah, I somehow don't think so, as most of the time the thats considered only to refer to humans, as in not committing murder. Oddly enough some have even gone far enough to say it doesn't apply to war either, as its 'impersonal' somehow because its part of national duty, something like that. Also doesn't apply to execution of criminals by the state, or in the old law certain violations of t

Oh my, how could this post bring so many comments so quickly? I am not so sure that anything christian is anything good to measure anything. Especially after the recent public commentaries in politics asking christians to leave a particular political party. In that message, someone compared marriage to "clam chowder'. What? And that same sex marriage was not 'clam chowder'. Its the

B who, Thank you for the insight. I don't make any suggestions, I hardly see her anymore. Shes kind and generous, but very traditional with food, and just about everything. If she hasn't heard of something she usually dismisses it out of hand. There is a certain power to that, but limitations also.
