I never understood such a site. It makes more sense to just promote standard american diet, or some other ideal if a person believes in an ideal. Better sites usually have their ideal as the center piece, and only peripherally attack other models, but never the centerpiece of the information.

I am anticipating that when I move I will likely have limited access to fresh fruits and vegetables of any type. Let alone high quality f&V. I am already planning on ordering various sprout seeds from an online company that just seems to have 'high vibes'. I also am planning on growing some herbs like purslane, lemon balm, fenugreek and sheep sorrel etc in small pots. Maybe some vine plan

I haven't done much with crystals, but some consider it a form of life. I used to have one. However, I do keep a small dark colored stone in my coin purse. I call it my good luck stone. I haven's the slightest as to what type of stone it is, but I remember finding somewhere and just being so attracted to it. Its a natural stone as far as I know but its almost completely round.

Therese, That helps a lot. I suppose the video clip is misleading on two accounts. I am actually a guy, and I am not nearly that evil... is there a chart for men as well, with the better guidelines. I better start working out. I like being thinner in many ways, but I always fear getting 'skinny'. But that might not be an actual worry..

Well, he had a chance to go to a wine and cheese pairing tasting. He turned it down. I encouraged him to go if he enjoyed that, but he wasn't interested at all. Well, I just weighed myself today. I lost a significant amount of weight. A side benefit I suppose. Its not really what I was interested in, but I lost weight I didnt really need. but sometimes I wonder if its all good, and hope that

Thank you life 101, very helpful information. Jgunn, Hes still vegan, as we both are. But if he decides to eat differently thats ok. I dont know if it would be easy for him. He found some bottle of vodka in the freezer, and he mixed it with soda water. He tossed it out. He let me try a taste...awful. So, I think we are doing healthy eating long enough that our taste has changed.

Life101, True enough, I dont have to do what he does. However, he had me thinking that maybe something is wrong with how I am eating. I sometimes feel tired, but I think I have been like that for awhile. But I think overall I feel way better. I had a cholestrol check today at a supermarket. I commented that I was trying vegan, and curious as to how that affected by blood. I was surprised at

Coco, Do you think that frequent consumption of fenugreek is harmful? or in large amounts on any one time? I just recently made a container of fenugreek sprouts, and I am enjoying smelling like maple syrup, that was a few days ago. Its still coming out of my pores. Some people dont like it, but I love it. I also planted some seeds to try as immature greens. I thought I would see how those ta

Magenta7, Visual aspects of food can be important. But, If your cashews are good, I think your cashew cream is good. Here is something that would create a nice whip cream effect, but its not always white either. Although I have heard that it may be made with immature berries to make it really white. Its got a particular flavor, so dont expect a whip cream flavor. I am amazing, there is a

My partner told me today that the diet doesn't make any difference. He feels the same as he always does, and actually more tired than ever. He thinks hes anemic and needs some animal product to feel like doing stuff again. He also wants to start drinking alcohol again, as hes depressed and cutting that out isn't making any difference. I told him that maybe he get some blood drawn and see a doctor

what a puzzle...this article says that perhaps meat eaters don't get enough carnosine either. That 1,000 mg a day is needed to provide protection against age's... weird...

This source says that the body produces carnosine on its own using carnosine synthetase. I seems like supplemental use is for special needs, or for people with a problem with this enzyme. this source seems to indicate that its particular amino acids thats a limiting factor, and that boosting protein intake is probably the best way to improve carnosine levels. Is histidine and alanine real

I have tasted them once, but make sure that you really have purslane. Commone spurge looks very similiar and thats toxic. I image that it would be good in salad.

Don't feel bad about not staying raw. Its difficult enough to remain vegan, I am finding out. I don't miss any animal products, but I noticed that my partner is getting frustrated with how limited the choices are for resturants, and the general social aspects of veganism. In my area its not the way of the majority. Raw is even less the way of the majority. I wouldn't be surprised at that. I tr

Maybe I haven't been vegan long enough, but I haven't noticed any of those things. The only negative things I experienced, like the ones you describe were from refined foods, animal products before trying vegan. I'm not 100 percent raw, maybe not even 50%. But I dont know I havent even estimated from calories. But its enough for me to maintain vegan for now.

Jalan, Well, I took high school and college chemistry. Also some basic review of chemistry for my allied health program. Here is a periodic table. Calcium is in the second column 3rd row under BE, and Magnesium. Its considered an Alkali Earth Metal. So I just did a search for pure calcium under images, and 'viola'. Its much more impressive when someone sees what it looks like as humans ar

Coco, I gathered some seeds of it today. I remarked on the same thing, as it seems to grow most where people don't want it. The seed source was from the front yard, where the apartment management has put down various fertilizers and pesticides. My partner immediately said "DONT EAT THAT!" as he saw me pulling some up. I just got some minute seeds and wrapped them up to take up to s

Affected your consciousness? In what way exactly? The thing I wonder about is why is it being sold as a dried powder, but nobody is eating it fresh. It seems like it would be easy to do, and it would provide abundantly if managed well, like in a home aquarium. The article I found on line suggested something about the texture which wasnt good fresh. But is there any other reason? Why are you c

I found out that purslane is edible and very good for you. I am sure this is old news to most of you here. I also found out it was hydrilla that I was looking for. Its sold as a supplement, but has anyone eaten this fresh?

Jalanutan, Thats so great! wolverine! Didn't think about that. Its sad people thinking that its white. Maybe they are thinking of bones and teeth also? I bet it will really catch them of guard when you say its metallic! Calcium from dairy is scary. Its like driving a car with only an accelerator and no brakes. People like to emphasize the amount of calcium and how easy its absorbed. Wel

What attracts you to these foods? is it really the food, or something else? maybe its the texture? There are some pretty clever dehydrated foods which a nice crunch which come very close to fried chips, but without the heating and all the fat. In one of roxannes books she has some nice wraps which really come very close to familiar foods and cheats. She had a resturant going at one time i

I just thought of something else. Isn't magnesium deficiency a bigger concern? Or at least it should be? yet, most people don't seem to be aware thats a much larger deficit than calcium. Vegetables are a great source of magnesium, I think milk...not so much....
