Alive, I read the book too, took the hydrochloric acid as directed because in her book Boutenko mentioned that skinny people may be deficient in hydrochloric acid and I'm worried about getting too skinny - and because it helps destroy parasites (as per Hulda Clarke). I also find it stops that bit of nausea I get from certain green smoothies. But earlier today I read on a link that Bryan p

Began to practice Zen meditation in earnest a couple of years ago which gave me the courage to face up to the reality of eating animals and the suffering it causes. Saw 'A Peacable Kingdom' and afterwards cried harder longer and deeper than I ever had or ever will in my life again. So vegetarian was easy, I didn't quite see why I shouldn't eat eggs and cheese till I found this forum. (Doh!)

It must be something more than food for the Marathon Monks in Japan who run a marathon for 100 consecutive days on a diet of veggies, tofu and miso soup, and that's just the early training.

Witarian said: "During Fasting on water Body is allowed WITHOUT ANY Interruption to perform its ONLY TRUE FUNCTION: Continuos rebuilding of any and ALL Damaged, or even 70% efficient cells". This rings true to me. Changing to a raw high fruit is kind of like a slow fast compared to the SAD diet. Why else would I be feeling so much better?

You can also make "smoothies" (blender meals) out of greens and fruit. Good if you don't have time to eat all that fruit etc. That's how I got started. See recipe forum.

After about 3 years on kibble I went back to raw about 6 weeks ago because I felt so good on raw and because my 6 yr old Jack Russell was getting itchy and the 3 yr old had an ear infection and was getting tartar on his teeth and was fat. Well I'm glad to say that itchiness and ears infections are gone. Extra weight gone, they look so solid and beautiful. Tartar is half gone, but will give the

I try to buy as much organic produce as I can, I am concerned about parasites and general bacteria not so much pesticides. I used to use a few drops of dilute food grade hydrocloric acid (to destroy parasites and eggs) but it's hard to get.

I haven't tried durian but I can't believe it could be better than ripe mango. The mangoes are not making it into my smoothies, they smell so good I eat them right away, it's a waste to blend them.

Was just checking out dehydrators in the Living and Raw Foods Maketplace, (unfortunately they don't ship the Excaliburs to Canada) but anyway there is a message from the manufacturer about temperature in their dehydrators, very good info on how they operate.

Yes, it does take a while to eat a smoothie. Eating fresh picked fruit in dappled sunlight, breathing the sweet air of a tropical forest is just a dream for me right now. Most days, precisely because it takes so long to finish one I find myself chomping back most of my smoothie sitting in my cold car at the commuter train station minutes before the train arrives - but all still well worth it f

I bought a /fruit/vegetable wash product at the health food store. It suds up like a detergent. Are the suds there just to make me feel like I'm cleaning/washing my veggies or are they a really good thing? Is there a better way to wash my produce? Dulset

I kind of chomp my smoothie, hold the mixture in my mouth and chew a few times and my mouth waters like crazy, especially with the mostly fruit ones. I just naturally stopped swallowing them down, I find they taste so good and are so-o-o satisfying - it just happened naturally. My stomach felt wonderful, grateful? this morning after my smoothie after all the cooked food sampled over the past

There is a thread a couple of pages back about "raw food while pregnant" which might give you some food for thought. Read as much as you can till ALL your questions are answered. You will get a lot of valuable info on this forum, consider yourself very fortunate to have found it. The idea that we need to eat meat every day is very deeply imbedded in our minds. I asked the same questi

This diet is very difficult at times, especially in the begginning. Not everyone can stick to it right from the start. Similar to any aesthetic practice or discipline which requires not giving in to our senses like hunger and craving all the time, if followed dilligently over time it does make us stronger, not only in body but in mind and spirit also. And similar to such a practice the challe

It may be my imagination but I have noticed a lot more bananas, apples and the like on peoples desks since I started to eat large quantities of raw fruit at the office (at my desk). Certainly I prick the conscience of those closest to me by unwaveringly not eating meat, they know how I feel about sentient animals being raised for food and they know I'm probably right. The only one you can

How does one tell if a product/supplement has B12 analogues in it? I have been taking a high quality "greens" product for over a year. They did make a differnce in my overall health, my allergies stopped for one thing, but now that I am trying to eat raw I don't rely one them except only occasionally to use then up. But B12 analogues are not something I want in a vegan diet.

<<I would guess an average of 20% greater bioavailability for pureed v. whole based on how fiber reduces metabolizable energy.>> Yes, maybe only 20% more bioavailability but before green smoothies I only ate maybe 3 small salads a week sometimes covered in dressings and croutons and other stuff but the beauty of the green smoothie is that now I eat probably the equivalent of 20 of

On my way to work this AM, lugging my tote bag (now always heavy with fruit), I suddenly realized how great I felt, at ease, alert, energized. This is it, health... something that in my 50th year had all but disappeared. I thought feeling sick, bone tired and sore half the time was a normal part of aging. The thyroid cancer my doctor said, while it wouldn't kill me it was something that many wome

I have sore slightly swollen sensitive itchy skin that started around my mouth and has spread down under my chin and actualy my whole face, not so much the forehead. My guess, (and it's just a guess), is that it could be from the botox I had injected into my lips about 4 years ago. This happened shortly after I started upping the raw fruit in my diet about a week ago. Still have some "co

Bryan, I had to hold some mirrors up to my face when I read the Billings research and was satisfied but I came back here because I'm not convinced from the stand point of an optimum diet that I shouldn't eat a raw egg occasionally (as a supplement?) from ethically raised chickens, wish I could keep a couple myself, but not right now. Dying is another mirror but that is not a discussion for t

Yes, I am just getting over that too. Like chapped lips only on either side of your mouth. I got it when I started smoothies with more fruit. Fruit is acidic after all, they even use it in facial peels and such. Suffice to say I did not go out Saturday. It's much better today but was irritated a bit after a lunchtime mangoe. Aloe gel squished right out of the aloe leaf soothes it.

I appreciate the open discussion. I regret the way I asked that question. the question I wish I had asked is- What can an enthusiastic raw vegan do if they find themselves tired/not feeling right, after a few months on raw vegan food? They don't have the freedom at the time to move away from the city (as I indeed long to do) and want to remain true to the diet without resorting to animal sour

Hi, I'm fast moving from green smoothies to all raw 60/40 fruits vs veggies. Some people posting here describe unpleasant experiences when they are raw for a while and then eat a cooked meal. Does this mean if I eat raw faithfully for a month or two straight I can get ill if I innocently eat say a slice of Pizza or some mashed potatoes some night? (Sounds like fruitarian bad Karma in a way LOL)

I know the answer is probably on this site somewhere but what is the best way to clean/wash fruits and veggies. I'm dumping them in water with a few drops of Lugols Iodine for now, a leftover from a Hulda Clarke protocol but I know there are other better ways. I read on another post that you can spray hydrogen peroxide and cider vinegar on them? What about those vegetable washes you can buy at th

I am new to blending, have been 80% raw for a about a month and climbing, but I find that my blended drinks are full of air bubbles. I use a a Vita-Mix which I love but wonder how long or at what speed I should be blending for optimum nutrition. Air is not good so can anyone tell me how long I should blend say a head of romaine, a banana and some celery? I put in a green pepper yesterday and the
