Aack! Sorry but I used it only twice! For shame! lol I bought qa Breville around the same time and it is what I am using right now. I have not juiced wheatgrass with it yet but I will try soon. I am a little worried about all the ait that it (the Breville) introduces into the juice. As for the Z star, the pulp of the parsely i tried comes out quite dry. It is more of a pain to wash than the Brevi

SAPPHIRE, I would make sure that the B12 shots you are getting are in a coenzyme form B12 such as methylcobalamin as opposed to denatured forms such as cyanocobalamin and hydroxocobalamin. Cyanoconalamin is usually flushed out of the body and hydroxocobalamin binds to cyanide in the body to form cyanocobalamin.

Cows also have two stomachs. Apparently the bacteria from one of the stomachs can make B12 from cobalt compounds found in the ground.

I read somewhere that the only apples known to contain B12 are Granny Smith because they are the least hybridized variety. However, the B12 they contain is still to small an amount ot be considered adequate for the human diet.

How do peopole know that there is enough cobalt in there food for the body's bacteria to make B12? I've read reports thaty it is not that common a metal in many pastures, let alone ion earth that has been used many times to grow vegetables.

The seeds of bell peppers sprout easily in my garden. Does anyone know if the sprouts are edible? I know that all but the fruit (i.e. the tomato) of the tomato plant contains toxins. Thank you in advance for any reply!

It is necessary for vegans to supplement with B12 because there isn't much B12 in vegetables. B12 if formed when by bacterial action on cobalt. I do not know the specifics and my previous statement is VERY general. In certain websites i've read that some fields can be so devoid of cobalt that even the ruminants grazing there will develop a B12 deficiency. So yes, DEFINITELY SUPPLEMENT WITH B12.

Yams and sweet potatoes are two totally different root vegetables. I think yams are supposed to be cooked or they can be mildly toxic. Wasabi is a japanese root vegetable (spice?) that has nothing to do with horseradish or avocado. It is a water loving plant that has a piccant root. It is not related to horseradish though.

Hello all! I wanted to know if anyone knows of some really good raw vegan cookbooks. I don't care whether the recepis are simple or complicated as long as the dishes are good! I'd like to spice up (no pun intended!) the dish pearation at home as now I am doing simple salads only. Also if the dishes look nice i could even try them at the restaurant I work at! Thank you in advance!

There are certain vegetables that need to be cooked before being eaten as they are too high in oxalic acid. Someone on this board was complaining about a leaf vegetable but I can't remember which vegetable it was. I remember him saying that after he drank the juice he felt overall ill. These kind of vegetables are rare though.

I think that the centrifugal juicing method introduces a lot of air into the juice, oxidizing many nutrients. In the end your teeth are the best juicers in the world. However I think that somewhat oxidized nutrients are better than no nutrients at all.

The Aquasana water filter claims (paraphrasing) that "No filter has ever been made at any price that matches the water purity if an Aquasana water filter". I use one and I am happy with it. I wish that the spout were not attached at the faucet but it is a small issue. I got mine from at www.aquasanastore.com

This is an interesting topic. Fermentation does increase the vitamin content of foods. B12 Vitamin can only be made by bacteria. Other plant foods that contain B12 absorb it from the bacteria that make it. Also I think that natural fermentation increases vitamin C in foods.

381. Re: salt
Regarding not drinking see water in everyday life or in times of lack of water, its because it takes more water for the body to get rid of excess salt than the sea water can provide. I do not know what the exact numbers are but lets say someoone drinks a cup of sea water and the salt in the sea water is in excess in the body. The body is going to try to get rid of the salt using (this is a made u
