I have the same thing with pistachios. The urge to keep eating them is almost as if they were salted but they're not. They're just dang good! Love, Uma

I have seen both Cousens and Clement in person. In fact I was Cousens' patient for 2 years including thousands of dollars in supplements and retreats; and did the full 3-week program with Clement including wheatgrass up the ass, and did his program for several months afterwards. Both men were friendly, had a vibrant, radiant energy about them and seemed to be doing something that worked for th

When I first went raw i didn't realize how few calories veggies had and even less sweet fruit like grapefruit. You might be doing a lot of chewing and not getting enough calories! Love, Uma

He assumes Bryan doesn't think for himself or speak from his own experience. On other threads he has suggested that Bryan doesn't even respond to posts on this board without calling or emailing Doug Graham to get his input, and that he just parrots Doug's answers to this board. Bryan "won't even go near something" because someone else says it's not good? He's accusing Bryan of being

"Come on lavero, Bryan won't even go near dandelions because DG says they don't taste good and they are an herb. elnatural" That is just disagreement? That is more like total insult and idiocy. No wait... that's more like TROLLING. Saying stupid stuff to suck up attention. (which means yes, i'm responding to a troll. Oops.) Bryan, what I don't understand is why you are willing

Suvine wrote "I used to eat really bad raw food recipes and take green juice just to feel normal." hah! i still like to do this when i go to the city and eat at a raw food restaurant, i'll get a green juice for dessert if i can, kinda like a hangover remedy! love, uma

Interesting discussion about the alkalizing. I used to drink a lot of green juice after i went to Hippocrates for a while until I started feeling like I was a slave to it. I felt like I was using it to self-medicate, and that I couldn't get that far out of range from my juicer! Yes I could feel acidic and a green juice would make me feel better, calmer, less in pain and more balanced. To this day

Anaken thanks for your reply. I have been in the place of trying to live up to an "ideal" that just wasn't working for me (the first time I went raw and got even sicker!) and ended up gaining more strides with my health by eating cooked foods and working on my emotions for a while!!! I am curious, have you heard Graham talk or talked with him? In my experience he is definitely not t

I used to be totally miserable with cystic acne. I used to use a huge variety of cleansers, toners, treatments, creams, lotions, etc. from the cheapest to the most expensive programs, and go my dermatologist (who had cysts himself) and take antibiotics and do exfolations and regular facials and pick at my skin myself, and nothing seemed to help at all except like you said make my skin red and irr

Anaken, thanks for your response. So what I hear you saying in a nutshell is that hygienic practices/concepts tend to resonate for you or work for you in your own experience, and that some followers of hygiene are closed-minded, dogmatic, and/or parrots. I have experienced both of these things as well. I like what Doug Graham has to say because what he is saying (about other approaches, about

Peisinoe, perhaps you are cleansing especially hard because you aren't eating that many calories? You mentioned eating 10 bananas a day. When I did my mono diet I ate more like 20-22 bananas a day! Regarding the greens intake: I came from the camp of being very attached to my greens and eating a LOT every day. After I had enough sugar i felt i really "needed" them and really didn't l

Anaken, what do you mean when you say people have blind faith in Graham? I don't want to assume i know what you mean. My personal experience is that people listen to his advice and then have their own experience to see if it works for them, because oftentimes by the time you get to Doug, you've tried just about everything else that hasn't worked! So, I'm interested to hear what you mean when you

Gosia, I'm not sure I understand how salt ties you to cooked foods: The last time I was cooked I didn't use any salt, yet in the past I used tons of salt in gourmet raw foods. So I don't know if my process of weaning off of salt was tied to cooked or not. But it's true if you put salt on something cooked like rice, you can just keep eating and eating and eating and eating and eating and eating...

I recently did almost 10 days of bananas. It really served me. I bet a juicier fruit would have been even more cleansing (less digestion work) but this level of cleansing was really perfect for me at this time. more than I had been experiencing on my regular diet, but less extreme than a water fast. I was surprised to find that I needed to drink some water because the bananas were kind of dry

Gosia, I have similar experiences, and in fact just did recently: I was on a very high fruit, low fat, mostly mono diet for a few weeks with practically no recipes (no dressings, raw burgers, wraps etc.). Then I went to a raw gourmet restaurant and indulged in the works. Salty, oily, fatty, spicy yum! After that I kept wanting more and more fat and complexity, my avos & nut consumption wen

Yeah, considering he also wrote a book called "The Healing Powers of Milk" or something, I figured I wouldn't resonate with everything he had to say. Still, I ordered the book because I figured it would be interesting and insightful to read about the benefits of a mono-diet for healing, from someone who isn't even biased towards raw. I am reading the Grape Cure book now. Her enthusia

I agree that mono eating shows up when/if someone is ready. Because until I had gotten to this point, yeah, I was still steeped in all the belief systems that it would be malnourishing, that I need variety all the time, or the FDA/RDA doesn't support it, or whatever. I was still interested in the arguments and evidence about how modern day fruit isn't as mineral dense or whatever zillion argument

I did mostly veggies for a few years. The only way to do it (for me) was to either get enough calories by piling on the fat (which I did first), which for me made my health keep getting worse and not better, or cut out the fat but keep losing tons of weight until I became emaciated! That was after I realized tons of fat wasn't working, but still thought fruit was bad for me. Mostly veggies is

In my limited experience (been to all these islands once or twice), the Big Island of Hawaii is the least expensive, the least crowded, and the most rural (more space for farms). That's probably where I'd want to go to live as a raw foodist! I don't know about the other questions you have. Love, Uma

Anaken, I agree about the mangos. It is just such weirdness that they don't have any aroma. I used to love the ataulfos but nowadays i could take or leave them (maybe cuz i just had fresh ones in costa rica!) i agree the haitian ones are still yum sounding and i look forward to when those come around. Interesting question. Eating a ripe creamy avocado is such a yummy treat and it definitely isn't repulsive to my taste buds! But, once I've had enough for now, they stop looking/sounding so appealing for a while. I used to eat several avocados a day when my diet was way more complex and with lots of supplements. Now with mostly fruit, i eat avos when i want but it usually is around a couple a wee

Thanks for all the input and the personal experiences. I am excited: It is becoming so clear how many leaps and bounds I feel better when I mono-eat. So cool. But I don't want to force it before its time so I am trying to let it show up naturally, gradually. Do you successful fruitaholics ever eat dates? Or is this too dry/heavy for you? FruitarianOne, I really appreciated reading your

The man you want to talk to for inspiration is named Harley. He posts to Doug Graham's board a lot, and is a high-fruit raw fooder who bikes all over the world. Also Doug Graham coaches a lot of athletes with raw. He knows a lot about health and performance. You might get a lot from that board. And you might like Doug's High Energy Diet Recipe Guide. I posted this to the fruitarian debate thread but then just decided to start fresh. Fruitarian One, I am interested in your experience of eating citrus for a whole season at a time, and of not eating greens. What is it like? DavidZaneMason if you have comments too or anyone else, I'd love to hear it. I used to think I really needed and enjoyed a lot of greens but after I just did almost 10
