I used to take large quantities of supplemlents and eat a lot of complicated raw foods. Now i eat really simple, and don't spend a dime on supplements. What was my experience was when i needed supplements, the way i was approaching the raw diet wasn't working for me. Love, Uma

There was a woman in the SF Bay area who went to the SF Living Foods potlucks when I used to live there. She did a raw seder each year and put out a whole little raw passover recipe book! I don't remember her name but perhaps you could contact the people who run the potluck and ask if they know the woman. Also here are some online recipes: Love, Uma

I have this somewhat too (dark circles under eyes). I've learned from various sources over the years and also from personal experience of things improving or getting worse, and what seems to be true for me are 2 of the biggest causes are lack of sleep and clenching my jaw. Love, Uma

Yay! Harmony and Suvine, you are so inspiring. I definitely want to do some mono watermelon this summer. Yes I could imagine a persimmon diet too. Figs are so yum but i get a fig burn if i eat too many of them. I want to go to SE Asia during durian season and do mono durian!!! I really feel happy about discovering this mono-fasting thing. Some people eat this way as a way of life!!

I found out that the frozen corn we get here is actually cooked first before it is frozen. I have no idea whether the same is done with peas before they are frozen? Love, Uma

For now why not just eat what doesn't hurt? That's how I came to a diet of mostly fruit and greens, by process of elimination. I never imagined I would ever want to eat that way by choice and have it not feel restrictive at all. I can relate to the list of "conditions" you name. I know what it feels like to want to give up. I also know that sometimes it takes hitting rock bottom and

My friends often quote someone who says something like "I've never met anyone so dumb I couldn't learn something from or so smart I couldn't teach something to." No I don't write in the journal section. Maybe I should check it out. By the way suvine thanks for all these various fruitarian book recommendations! Love, Uma

I've been to the Fort Bragg Expo. It was good for me because there were a lot of talks by Natural Hygienists/Fruit Folks which is the area i want to learn more about. I don't know the other ones might be more like a party or festival, this is actually more of an educational expo with lots of lectures and demos. I've never been to the others so i can't say. Funny i went to go look up the Grape Cure on Amazon.com and this book, The Detox Mono Diet, also came up in the results. I want to read it too! Here is an interesting excerpt from the site: Love, Uma from Chapter 4: The Grape Mono Diet THE BASIC VIRTUES OF THE MONO DIET Because fasts and mono diets are so similar in practice, the same healing phenomena triggered by fasts are also

After my mono-banana party (9.5 days of only bananas) i wonder if it has more to do with the healing effect of the mono-eating diet. I was feeling some deep cleansing going on, almost like i was fasting except that I got to eat! And grapes are even lighter than bananas so digestion must get tons of rest. Thanks, I'd like to read that book. Think I'll order it. Love, Uma

Hey, I recently found out about these so I thought I'd post the info. First Annual Mt. Shasta Living Foods Expo in Mt. Shasta, CA in late July. Living Light's Vibrant Living Expo in Fort Bragg in late August. I went last year and it was great. Raw Spirit Festival in Mid-October in Sedona, AZ. Suvine I thought you might have fun at this one! It's great you are noticing the effects of combining fruit and fat. If you are sensitive to it like I am, it definitely helps to avoid that combo! I know several people who have done this approach long-term who don't seem to have nutritional deficiencies that I know of (at least, they seem a lot healthier and more vibrant than most people I know!) One thing that helped me a lot with constipati

I used to have candida for years and I don't have it anymore. However without knowing all the specifics of your situation it's hard to say whether what is coming out of you is tox or detox. That is one tricky thing about raw. Depending on how you do it (and I've been here myself), you could be doing an approach or lifestyle that is actually causing toxicity and so that is coming out of you, but y

Perhaps it's just that oranges are more "cleansing"... not that they are magical but they are much juicier and lighter than bananas. I was surprised (after just having eating bananas for 10 days) how satiating they are. Maybe at this point citrus is too light for me to feel the same satiation or something, my body starts cleansing faster when that's all I've eaten and I get physically u

For me the following is important, but from what I've read it is particularly important for a diabetic doing raw: to learn about and follow food combining with regards to nuts and fruit. If you eat fruit too soon after eating nuts (which take way longer to digest), the fat will hold up the sugar being absorbed from the bloodstream, messing with the blood sugar. Doug Graham's The 80/10/10 Diet has

Gosia, I'm in northern California. By the way I might as well play the game. March 14-23rd: mono-ate bananas! March 23rd bananas breakfast & lunch 5 pm: handful of lettuce, baby spinach, few bites cucumber. (long time no greens, but actually not craving them nearly as much as i thought i would!) 9 pm baby (maybe 4 lbs?) watermelon. YUM! March 24 breakfast: big bowl of honey ta

MmmmMM I LOVE dragonfruit! I cut them down the middle and eat each half with a spoon, it's like a bowl of ice cream! Some people don't think they're sweet enough but to me they have such a delicately wonderful flavor. I don't have a lot of experience picking them but I make sure they aren't rotting or anything. I don't know if they actually import UNripe ones to the US.?? Love, Uma

oh if you were eating only fruit, and you normally eat other foods, this is a very cleansing diet so it can bring up detox then when you eat something heavier the symptoms can go away. this happens to me sometimes. love, uma

Yum, raw hash browns! I used to dehydrate sweet potatoes to make chips with some olive oil and salt and spices. But now that I don't eat oil or salt very often, it's not as much fun. Eggplant -- for me, fruit that is pretty starchy raw tends to be less appetizing and harder to digest than less starchy fruits. But if it appeals to you and doesn't give you problems, why not? you can dehydrate it
