Welcome Phil Venusian, have a great vacation. We'll be here when you get back. I went through a great deal of pain yesterday and awoke in pain this morning, so today I need to make a decision as to whether I should seek assistance or continue riding this out. M.D.s are notoriously unhelpful when it comes to back pain and its doubtful that a chiropractor will be able to "fix" me in

Good morning everyone! I can't say enough about what a pleasure it is to wake up and "see" all of your brave and hopeful faces shining through your words. Loretta: I am impressed with your tenacity and endurance. I listened to some of Douglas Grahams' podcast last night where he mentioned that it took him seven years to successfully transition to raw...7 years! and look at him now

Personally, it still doesn't work out socially...even high raw, heck, even vegan cooked. Not in my social circle anyway and not in most of the restaurants that I'm invited to socially. The best I can do in a social situation such as out for dinner at a restaurant is to have a nice salad and indulge in the bread (which I've done countless times). So for me, and strictly for me, this wouldn't count

Islandgirl: The number "7" contains some personal resonance for me from a numerological perspective, but mostly 7 weeks allows for a certain completion of process. The first through third weeks are usually taken up with mundane matters of learning to shop, to prepare meals, to getting used to eating this way. By the fourth week some disenchantment or boredom may set in; some craving for

I've been wanting to say something these last few days of the Podcasts. For the first time in my entire life I feel at "home". I've shared many interests with others before, but never have I felt such kinship with a group of people as I do those in the raw food movement. I made some criticism of Dr. Cousens talk, and yet find myself wanting to read his books now and exploring what

Rumi says... "Learning anew ~ well, at the very first — almost everyone must be bound and dragged here. Only a very few really come entirely on their own. Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, worshipper, lover of learning, lover of leaving, It doesn't matter — ours is not a caravan of despair. Come, come even if you have broken your vows a thousand times. Come, come yet again, come

Good morning and congratulations for choosing to make the decision to feed yourself the most living, vital, and nourishing food on the planet! I am so pleased to be in your company. This morning at 4:00 I was awakened by a deep, burning pain in my back that began Saturday afternoon, with only brief periods of let-up since then. It is very difficult to sit comfortably or to lie down in any p

I understand that breakfast, lunch and dinner are not what they used to be...and thank goodness for that eh? Sometimes, if I'm having melon or a large smoothie, my "breakfast" may extend way past noon and often my "lunch" may not happen until most people are thinking "dinner", so these distinctions are arbitrary really and only used as universal concepts. There are t

Of course its possible. The two major parties are so screwed up right now that its difficult to remember the core philosophies by which they were formed. I've been a registered republican for many years; a decision based mainly on its core tenets of minimal involvement of government in the lives of individuals, cities and states, which should retain as much autonomy as possible. Part of the un

I enjoyed Mike Adams very much too. His solid, grounded "extremism" really resonants with me and, of course, he's right about the fear that has the people of the U.S. by the throat. Even in society in general we are not to speak of the elephant in the living room or to the fact that "the emperor has no clothes". khale

Who's ready? Here's how it works: Starting Monday, August 13th, make a commitment to eating as much raw plant food as you are ready for and then join everyone else here who has made their own personal commitments for support, encouragement, and challenge. The only requirement for participating on this thread is that you MUST post your daily diet: breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday. You ma

People with eating disorders still have to eat, right? Then why not eat the best food available to you? This (eating live, raw plant food) is a powerful way to love and care for yourself and that alone can be quite healing. And using food as medicine is a completely different paradigm from the suppress, repress, and control paradigm and can help to free you from using food as a weapon agai

I've yet to dehydrate anything. I've warmed things at 100 degrees in a pizza/toaster oven for a few hours, but only once or twice. It was my good fortune to be given two juicers: one basket type that I wore out and then to my rescue came a well-used champion which I'm still using. My blender is a just okay Black and Decker; nothing fancy and doesn't really do the job as well as I'd like, bu

HeeHeeeeee! I was really going to refrain from commenting on Gabriels interview. I thought the recommendation of nano-plex B supplement and the discussion of the B12 issue to be the most valuable part. The referring to the self in the third person is just silly. Period. Enlightenment is not like that...sorry. Not that I consider myself enlighttened (see? I can't even spell it) or anythin

Where is Anaken anyway? I've been missing her. I would agree with anaken and sunshine. Try enemas. They help me tremendously. Dewey mentioned on another thread "autointoxication" from transitioning to 100% raw too quickly and the remedy for this (besides a slower transition) is hydrotherapy, or enemas, colonics (although I've yet to have a colonic) sweat baths (or sweating from moder

Yeah, I am not recommending pigging out on fats either. I rarely eat more than half of a large avocado in one day, or one small one, and then not that everyday. (I actually get a little tired of avocados) But then I often eat 12 to 20 almonds a day (yes, I count them) and usually some oil with dinner, so even on a for me low fat day I'm eating way more fats than the 80/10/10 crowd. But, I do watc

lol jodi, I'm a hummer too! I used to eat mayonnaise sandwiches and drink the pickle or olive juice from out of the jar. I also loved, loved, loved white rice slathered in butter and pink with tabasco. (I used to carry a bottle of tabasco with me in my purse. I couldn't imagine chinese without it, or french fries). I also liked cottage cheese with potato chips and french fries with mustard.

Yeah Lightform, I'll take nuttiness over tight-assed, "it can never happen", materialistic, sober, "adult", joyless, cynical, jaded mockery crockery any day of the week. I can't wait to hear what the next woohoo has to say. As for "hype" and "shysterism" (good word, fresh), I seriously doubt it. I think that David Wolfe believes every word he says. Th

He's just young, fresh. Ya know? young. I mean, anyone that can stay up all night working and playing is, well, young. raw or not. And yeah, there is some "nuttiness". The whole superhuman, superfoods and the future of the human race stuff is nutty, but mostly it's just young. I find it contagious. It's crazy ya know? like wow. khale (who is young at heart but must go to bed n

dewey: be sure that you are taking a calcium with magnesium. It's important to take these two together. Custom: why are you limiting fats this early in your transition? If you don't like them or if they are making you feel bad, then I understand. But if you are not eating fats because you think you shouldn't then perhaps you need to do some more research. In my opinion and in my experience, ve

Oceanna: Try turning the thermostat down on your fridge. Also, the more that is in your fridge the more efficiently the fridge will cool. If you are operating on small amounts of refrigerated food, then it is often necessary to adjust the thermostat to keep things from freezing up. khale
