For the few migraines I have had, total darkness (lying in the dark with something over my eyes - sometimes a cool washcloth) helped me to fall asleep and wake up fresh. I have also read (and a friend verified that it worked for her) that walking worked. She said it was hard to force herself to do it, but she just put one foot in front of the other and she started feeling better in a little bi

One suggestion is to start a Raw Diary on the raw diary forum and a bunch of us can check in and post encouragement and make suggestions. My raw diary sure has helped me. Good luck!!

Yes, definitely, all the stresses including growing up too fast, lots of homework, pressure to have sex too young... Sad, very sad.

Yeah, I've taken pineapple, mango, grapes, etc. to work and they all require too much insulin. So, I am just mostly eating bananas and apples for now for my fruit. Although in my smoothies I might put some of the sweeter fruits. Another person posted they get shakey after eating sweet fruit too - that's usually because your blood sugar crashed. Maybe, like her, your blood sugar is going way hi

Welcome, Wren! Some take supplements and some don't. I take some supplements and think they are good while transitioning to the raw food diet sometimes - especially probiotics and enzymes. I am not a tea person, but some of the raw foodists here do make sun tea.

Well, I still have Type 1 Diabetes and take insulin. But as long as I control my blood sugar levels, I do not have these symptoms. Thanks for the good wishes.

I am guessing that your back pain is a sign that something is healing. My upper left back (left shoulder blades area) hurts sometimes and it is usually when my diet is at its best. I was told my a rolfer that was the referral pain for my pancreas and since I have Type 1 diabetes I sometimes think my pancreas is trying to heal. Is that homemade fresh grape juice or store bought pasteurized grap

My 50 pound mixed lab is recovering from lymphoma. She is doing great but every time I try to improve her diet and switch her to raw dog food, she starts to get gas and I have to give her a supplement to help her release the gas. It's very discouraging. A month ago I had her on canned Alpo for a few months. I know it's bad, but I thought she was dying and she loves the stuff. Well, then (perha

Wow, that is interesting! I think I had read once that sometimes getting fat is your body's way to protect yourself so that seems to make sense now. I've heard of girls getting their periods as young as 7 - crazy! Even going away to a desert island doesn't totally help. I have read that they have found toxins in the blood of penguins who live nowhere near where the toxins originated. So

Sounds yummy, cy! But it's hard to get raw almonds nowadays, right? Camille, yes, lots of ancient cultures eat fermented foods and they provide probiotics. But some raw foodist do not believe in eating fermented foods. It might be a good transitional food for some until their gut flora has adapted.

Hi pampam, yes I do have a magic bullet but I was disappointed when it did not work on frozen fruit so I kind of stick to my K-tec now. I like the magic bullet to make dressings mostly. No, I don't think I could make green smoothies at work. It would attract too much attention, make noise, and take time. I eat my green smoothies at home for supper. I mean I could make extra the night before an

ddreams, here is a link to another thread with an article on how to relieve constipation naturally that I thought might be of interest . Personally, I cannot eat too many sweet fruits but I have Type 1 Diabetes. Bananas & apples are okay. Green smoothies with fruit in them are good. And the non-sweet fruits that we tend to classify as veggies are great for me.

ddreams, sounds like a very healthy diet! Lots of raw fruits and veggies. Congrats on your decision to eat healthier. I only needed to lose about 10 pounds also and at first nothing happened. Then suddenly a few pounds fell off at once. Then a plateau for awhile and then another sudden loss. My focus was on improving my health, not weight loss. But I just wanted to share my experience. Now, af

Yes, their lettuce, tomato, bell peppers, and onions are raw. If they have been soaked in vinegar like the banana peppers or pickles or even the olives, then they are not raw. I hope that helps.

Low Vitamin D Status despite Abundant Sun Exposure Conclusions: These data suggest that variable responsiveness to UVB radiation is evident among individuals, causing some to have low vitamin D status despite abundant sun exposure. In addition, because the maximal 25(OH)D concentration produced by natural UV exposure appears to be approximately 60 ng/ml, it seems prudent to use this value

Wow, that is sad. But it's weird how these kids are not obese or anything. Once again, toxins could help to cause this since we have so many 100s of unnatural chemicals in our blood starting from the womb. You know, another indication of how toxic our world is and how it is affecting us is the fact that girls are starting their periods so young. It is nature's way to perpetuate the species. Th

Hmmm, that's funny, I have only seen sausage gravy in North Carolina - but then again I am not a native. I used to love it though. Sometimes I take other fruit, but apples and bananas don't seem to affect my blood sugar as much as others. Today I ate 2 1/2 bananas and I had 2 apples with me in case I got hungry. I ate one of the apples in the afternoon. Now I am eating green smoothies for supp

badawie, I think for transition purposes some people have to branch out. 8/1/1 can be your long-term goal but it doesn't have to be your exact diet for right now. Can you eat nuts with your fruit since hemp isn't available?

I can relate as to the sweet fruits. I can't eat a lot of them either without taking lots of insulin and then I don't feel good, even with the insulin, if I eat too much of them. I find fruits in green smoothies helps to balance out the effects of the fruits. See my previous posting in regards to non-sweet fruits and not eating breakfast.
