Vegans know plenty well that it is not possible to be 100% vegan--but whereever we can make a compassionate choice, we do it.

Actually there was a study showing that a vegan driving an SUV was less harmful than an omni riding a bike. But most vegans I know are car-free, including myself.

Cravings are sometimes from physical addictions--same as happens with cigarettes. Sometimes it is just the memory associated with it, though, especially if the addiction is gone. Like cheese, I used to crave it because I was addicted. Now I only think about it because I used to enjoy certain foods with it--but I wouldn't *actually* enjoy it at all because a) it is unnatural and b) I am no longer

I would just get her whatever she wants, as much as I'm personally against it, within financial reason. Simple cream and a razor (cheapest too). I think that's great you're letting her learn on her own, otherwise she'd always think of not shavingas a punishment.

Yep, instinct is best for hunger, but it takes some work (at least it has to be) to distinguish between false hunger, and to also not ignore true hunger--to not over or undereat. But the learning is so worth it.

I agree with DMZ--dark, covering clothing is best (hard in the summer to do all the time--where I live, there are mosquitos everywhere, especially at dusk. It's not just a camping problem). Repellent doesn't work and soaks you with toxins. I will do herbals if I don't mind the smell, but I don't think they help that much either Luckily, with these precautions I don't get a ton of mosquito bit

It's not vegan. I know many "beegans" that are otherwise vegan but sometimes consume bee products. But by definition, not vegan.

When a mosquito bites me, I get huge, painful welts that stay for days. I'm hoping that my diet will make me less sensitive (since it acts like an allergy to pollen or anything else, and my other allergies have improved a lot). But as it is, if I let that mosquito go, it will just bite me somewhere else, and it really makes me miserable. I would rather not, though.

None is necessary (many people here never use it), so do what you feel is best and see how you feel afterwards. If you are consuming greens, you are already getting many of the nutrients that are found in wheatgrass.

The fat and protein are from the veggies. Otherwise it's very easy to overshoot fat and protein amts. Dr. Graham recommends "tender leafy greens" like lettuce as well as non-sweet fruit.

80/10/10 has 10/10 as a maximum--so you don't *have* to anything besides protein and veggies for fat. If it comes out, say, 84/8/8, that's fine (I made that up). I would just play around with fitday to see how much overt fat you can get away with.

When and how it was killed are certainly different. There isn't much scientifically to be said, though I believe animals release certain stress molecules before they are killed, and certainly during the slavery and confinement--wouldn't want that coming into my body.

I don't agree that struggle is important for becoming raw--only if you are in a hurry to get to all raw as soon as possible (to which I would ask, why?). Just keep making changes in a positive direction towards your goals, doing whatever you are ready for, and you will get there without having to force or struggle. It's fine to go at a pace you are comfortable with (with changes you can continue

Whoa--what is *really* going on with him? What he said about no one not shaving is just not true. It sounds like he's afraid that you're on another path, leaving him, and he wants to bring you back down where he is. He's afraid so he's acting out? Just some guesses. Maybe there's a way, if he's open to change, that you two can grow *together*--but he has to be willing to compromise to a certain d

In my town, the local grocery stores are unionized and Whole Foods is not (they are very ANTI-union) in fact. SO I would work at a grocery store first, they have as much junk food as Whole Foods (it's just not labeled "natural" and wages and benefits would be much better.

As long as you don't have hypothermia, I wouldn't worry about it Lower body temp is thought to be one of the benefits of caloric restriction (even if it is unintentional CR through a raw food diet), and thought to come from having less body fat to keep hear in. I was around there before I gained ten pounds, and I wouldn't be surprised if I got there again. Think of it as having lower blood pres

Those are just opinions...do what you feel is right. I haven't heard of any proof of too much kale being bad for you--though you may feel at a certain it is too much, which makes sense since through juice or are able to consume a lot than you could normally. I feel great having these juices. Maybe I wouldn't if I had a lot more every day. Varying your greens is a good idea--but I wouldn't wor

Juice or water-fasting I can see. I wouldn't want to do any refined sugar, maple or blackstrap. I don't think there is much proven for the MC, so I don't know where you would find anything. But water fasting and insulin resistance, perhaps.

Actually, many people do get around 2000 a day eating fruit all day and some greens (the book 80/10/10 talks about this). The trick is to get enough fruit, if that's the kind of diet you're going for. People will speak up and post if they get less I'm sure, but plenty of us need even more calories than that on raw.

I agree with coco--but was that article saying *vegans* are orthorexic? Freaking ridiculous--just because someone can't imagine giving up an addiction (SAD food), doesn't mean those who *do* have some self-destructive disease. And they quote Michael "happy meat" Pollan, who thinks the country's health problem is too *much* focus on healthy eating. I know he's probably ultimately doing m

Well, and they have to have ranges. I would be very overweight at 24.5 (over 138 pounds and 5'3"--I've been 130 and it's not a healthy weight for me), no matter what they say or how much muscle I put on (I'd have to go on steroids to gain that much muscle!). I have a small frame (my wrist circumference to height puts me here); someone with a bigger frame might be great there.

I don't push the way I eat, but if someone is really pushing me to respond, I will just tell them I can't live that way--when I eat junk I have horrible painful menstrual cramps, acne, not at optimal weight, allergies, etc. I feel so much better eating healthier. Then they will usually leave me alone. And maybe it makes them think--after all, everything I had was the kind of stuff most people hav
