I believe that we are all on this journey together, and when we are supposed to "get it" we will - whether that is with the help of a "guru" or not. Everyone has their own opinions and judgements, but perhaps we could just stop judging and go further by appreciating the attempts that anyone is making to improve their lives - Dr D included. 80/10/10 was something that tot

HmmmOK - how are you sustaining on so few calories!?!? I couldn't possibly do it, and have to get at least 1600 to 2000 which is optimal for me. Are you active? Everyone is different, but by the time you have eaten your predinner, you have eaten what I would have to eat for breakfast! Are you trying to lose weight as well?

I love to eat my foods during the day and finish with a simple green smoothie at night. I believe that the less we eat at night, the more our bodies will heal and have the chance to rest.

Me too - I eat a TON of bananas every day and don't have a blemish....knock on wood. Can't imagine that they would be the cause or even exacerbate them like DZM said.

It is funny - I love avocado and used to crave it ALL the time. Now I just eat it probably once a week - and I know when I need it. I will just eat the entire thing, maybe having another half the next day and then I am fine. Full of avo till the next week! Listening to the body is an incredible thing - especially for someone who never could really "get it!"

For dinner I always make a green smoothie - I use about a pound and a half of bananas - maybe 2lbs. I blend those with water, a scoop of chia seeds and then ad about 8oz or more of spinach, cale, cabbage or whatever green I am using. I could NEVER sit and eat a lb of greens that I get in the smoothies. I did try in the beginning of 80-10-10 to do what he recommended with the dressing, etc but

In the beginning it was a huge help to calculate for me. I needed to see everything on paper - what I was getting, what I wasn't getting, how many calories I needed, etc. Now I never use a counter, but to transition it was key.

It is SO GREAT!! Would love to hear more about your journey rawdancer - are you doing the boot camp? I can't keep it all straight - maybe it was the green smoothie challange. Either way, it would be great if you could share your daily menu!

I LOVE SPINACH and BANANAS!!! Best smoothie ever!!! How many bananas do you use - and spinach? Just curious. I also love banana and kale - always with chia seeds. I love getting my greens this way, and can't get away from those two combos. Although, in the mornings I have been juicing oranges and blending them with a banana - I feel like I am drinking an orange julius. YUM!!!

Thanks everyone!! I cannot say thank you enough actually, for the way that I feel, the ongoing support, and the HUGE amount of information/resources I have available to me here at all times. I could go on and on about the 80-10-10 as well, and now that I am 100% raw I don't follow it necessarily to a tee, but it was exactly what I needed to help me transition. And, I shouldn't say that I do

One question I might as well post here - does anyone have any experience with hair growing back after encorporating raw food? I have a friend who is going bald and is concerned. I told him to eat more raw foods and he thought I was crazy! Is there really a correlation?

I just wanted to post since I have been MIA for so long. (we were having major computer problems) I started 80-10-10 about four months or so ago and had also struggled immensely with an eating disorder. I had been trying to go 100% raw for a period of time prior to doing 80-10-10, but could not seem to stick with it. Since starting and primarily living by 80-10-10 for the first month or so

I LOVE BEING RAW!!!! Things on my end are great, thanks for asking OK. Here is what my day is typically like - first food - juice two oranges, put into vitamix, add two bananas, 1/2 scoop chia seeds...blend. Totally Delish! lunch-ish - raw veggies - lately just some cukes, cherry tomatoes, cauliflower. Snack - about 1lb fresh mixed fruit dinner-ish - 10 oz dark leafy greens (usuall

How do you eat brussell sprouts raw? Just pop em in and eat? Or do you marinate them in something? Season them? Huh - just wondering because I used to be a HUGE b.sprout eater (cooked) and would love to try them raw. Just never thought about it!

Thanks arugula - that's what I was thinking about the chard. AND, I actually did say that to my friend - wondering if there was anything positive about the nitrates in the veggies as opposed to the ones in processed lunch meats, etc. EW!

vita-prep all the way!! I can't say enough, use it all day long, and my family is using it now too. We all love it for a ton of different reasons - simplicity, ease of cleaning, productivity, size, noise level, efficiency, etc. Its a terrific machine and I couldn't live this way without it!

Awesome! I have definitely been buying organic spinach, and live in a non-agricultural area. So, I am at ease! Great, because I wasn't planning to give it up, for some other reason I am REALLY needing it. Another question - anyone eat red chard raw? I used to often in Hawaii, but am not so crazy about it now. What about in a green smoothie? Any experiences with it? Thanks for all o

Wow WY - a wheatgrass fast? Not sure I will get there, but stranger things have happened. I never thought I would get where I currently am with my diet. I can't wait to hear about your experience with it!

So, I have been completely overloading on spinach, and have never in the past even liked it. I have been blending it into my green smoothies - about 12 oz each smoothie. I am in love with the taste, and I know that I am probably craving it because it is high in iron. However, a friend of mine just told me that it has nitrates in it because it grabs the nitrates from the soil. So, should I not

I know that for me dealing with food addiction/eating disorder which is often compared to alcoholism, raw food was/is a savior for me. When I started out it was a struggle as anything is, but eventually, I was/am able to stay 100% raw. I also started going to counseling (and my counselor was not very supportive of a raw food diet, but we agreed to disagree on the food pattern as long as he was

Today I was not planning to but ended up pretty much mono eating. I ate two bananas for breakfast, two at lunch, then two more at around four. At six-ish, I had a six banana (1 1/2lb), 12 oz spinach, and one scoop of chia seed smoothie. I felt amazing!! Still do!!

Today is day 3 of 100% raw again. (The whole week was at least 75% or more) I can't understand why this can be a challenge for me - and I am writing this here in case I need some extra support later in the week, or heck, even later in the day. Since I have been eating 100% the past couple of days I start to question why I would consider even tasting cooked food again. I feel the best I have fe

I have been so addicted to this smoothie!! In the book he uses about 2lbs of bananas, and lettuce. I have been using about 1 1/2 lbs of bananas and lots of spinach or darker leafy greens (usually 10oz or a little more.) I am in heaven!! I am loving the taste of it (spinach is delish - cabbage okay, lettuce is good, and haven't done kale yet.) and feel great because I am getting so many gree

I know that Simple Living was doing some Youtube stuff as well, but I couldn't find it. I never did watch it. I always like putting faces with names. I love this board too. I feel like I can ask anything, and most times, will get wonderful responses in return. I come here first thing in the morning to get some inspiration for the day (while I drink my big green smoothie!) and return most
