Lizard: Good for you. I too need follow your lead and throw out what people care about my weight. The only way for me to get near the "norm" is to eat loads of crap. Better to feel better.

I was always told that menstruation is reliant on having a certain percentage of body fat. Not what you eat. When you go below a certain level you don't menstruate. I have not menstruated much of my life due to an extremely lean body. There seems to be a magical number that when I hit I have a period - Regardless of what I am eating. It is interesting to think that it might be related to other fa

Adrenal disorder causes one to be very fatigued. Stimulants raise cortisol levels and stress the adrenals even further. Sugar is a stimulant. The adrenals need nourished with protein and fats to level out your hormones and such. When I was eating all fruit, I had a temporary clearing of my debilitating brainfog. Upon ingestion of one thing with protein or fat, one thing other than fruit, my brain

Protein and good fats such as olive oil, flax, coco oil are ESSENTIAL! I do not advise a fruitarian diet for stressed adrenals either. You can do it for a while and feel high - But you are feeding your body false energy from sugar. You need to rebuild. I usually don't speak in such absolutes. But I think a fruitarian diet is a disaster waiting to happen for people with adrenal disorders. I know t

I love putting goat yogurt on my face with dried lavender and calendula flowers. I leave it on for about 1/2 hour and then rinse - Silky smooth.

Ginger and lemon are indeed great for spicing up those green soups. Sunflower sprouts and dulse also add interesting flavors. So does fresh fennel.

I do not live in a developing country and in fact was protein deficient. I ate a huge amount of calories - Over 5K many days - But all of my food came from ice cream, cookies, muffins, non-foods.... I in no way am saying that fruitarian diets cause protein deficiency. But to state that protein deficiency doesn't occur in this country is incorrect. I live in Boulder, am working with the thr

Low BUN is an indicator of protein deficiency I have been told. Mine has normalized since eating more protein. But I guess if you don't feel deficient then who cares.

I felt great after my stay at Hippocrates. Clear headed for the first time in years. Joyful. But weak. Detox takes time. The three weeks cost alomst 6K. I would go to Optimum Health over Hippocrates due to the drastic price difference. The education at Hippocrates is unparalleled however and the place is much more posh.

I was at Hippocrates for three weeks last august. Went in on sugar - Blood was terrible! Very high cholesterol, low wbc, high inflammation markers, bacteria, lack of oxygen, yucky clumpy cells. After three weeks on greens everything looked way better. But according to him, given my history, full recovery will take more than three weeks - Of course.

I do want to say one more thing. I do not think that my way is ultimately where I will end up. Perhaps my body just needs to remineralize. Perhaps fruit will then appeal to me in some form. The animal protein is appealing to me less and less. But, as a tool, avoiding fruit has helped me greatly.

I had a very severe sugar/binge eating disorder for 16 years. I have been abstinent now for 32 days. I cut out all sugar, including fruit, and have been eating a ton of greens - Green juice, salads, zucchini, blended soups, good oils, and some cooked protein as well. I have no desire for sugar in any form. Even fruit tastes too sweet now. I know that most people on this forum support a mostly fru

Vail does not even have a natural food store or an organic scene. I was up there for xmas and had a hard time even ordering steamed veggies. The food tends to be elegant and gourmet. Good luck. But you can get a salad anywehre.

You are not alone. I have abused enemas and have the same rebound effect of weight gain, poor digestion, depression, etc. It is as much a pscychological as physical dependence for me. I don't know what to tell you except that you are not the only one struggling with this.

I have a friend here in Boulder who, like me, has had candida for years. She went to Raw Spirit Fest and decided to give 811 a go. She works in a naturopathic's office and has access to all the cutting edge blood and stool tests. She did a before test, showing high levels of yeast, and an after (after a mere 3 weeks), and she noted a marked improvement. Plus she felt better than she had in years.

Boulder, Colorado is great. Tons of sunshine. Very health consciuous. Hiking. Biking, Walking. Yoga. Dancing. Martial arts. Three Wild Oats. One Vitamin Cottage. One Whole Foods all within a three mile radius. Organic restaurants (Sunflower, The Leaf, Anjou, Organic Dish). It is a beautiful place with a lot of lovely people.

Has anyone here attributed great strides in their overall health to acupuncture? Or does raw food take the cake? I am just beginning to wonder whether acupuncture is at all useful for chronic imbalances.....
