I recently read that most store bought dried goods like raisins are not actually raw, they are heat treated. I wonder if anyone knows if dates fall under this category....are dats you get, say, at a farmers market exactly what came off the plant? or are dates a dried fruit?? thanks!

wow, thanks for all the suggestions guys! you rock. I'm going on almost 3 weeks raw now (100%) I came into raw from a vegan diet, and a month previous completed a 40 day juice fast. I guess I'm realizing that my "cravings" for certain unhealthy cooked foods are really "cravings" for an emotional feeling that I associate with the food. I tell ya going raw is the ONLY way to gai

Try getting your veggies from a local farmers market if you have one in your town. Always do organic, for so many reasons I cant even begin. I recommend looking into a raw food cookbook for ideas. Amanda

Try half a bunch of kale (half of a grocery store size bunch) with 1 peach, 1 plum, 1 nectarine and 1 banana. I only add just enough liquid (water or juice) to get the blender turning. I like em thick, so I can chew each sip a little to mix it with saliva and aid in digestion. YUM

Hi, I am very new to raw, though I've been researching and learning a lot about it over the years. I just recently went raw (100%), about 10 days ago, and already have had some hard times with willpower. Do any of you have any strategies or pep talks you give yourself when you can feel your resolve waning or cravings taking over? Going raw is very emotional and it causes food issues and shadows f

Thanks a lot everyone. I am cruising through the end of my first week 100% raw vegan. Thats amazing for me! Its not even hard, it just feels good. I have about 6-7 fruit servings (some consumed in green smoothie form with 6 kale leaves) a handful of nuts, half an avo, and a wopper green salad everyday. YUM. At the beggining of the week I felt confused, like I needed an answer. Now I just trust th

I recently finished a 50 day juice fast which included veg, fruit juices, veg. broth (not raw but a great alkalanizing drink for the fasting purpose) and teas. I did this fast under the guidance of a fasting coach. Check out www.fasting.com. Its a verbose website, but the guy is very knowledgeable and will answer any of your questions before you start. I dont know about others but I dont feel com

I cant even begin to guess how much fat I eat in a day. I know its a lot, and lately I've been wondering the same thing, how much is too much? I have 1 avo, at least a handful or two of nuts/seeds, and a tablespoon or more of tahini everyday. Wow, thats gotta add up. Any experienced raw fooders out there have any insight on this?

Roger Haeske's site requires money to join, he claims to have the answers for the BEST way to eat raw...his theorie (which he says are the best) include high fruit low fat. I've read from other so called experts just the opposite. I am new to raw foods, and am very serious about going 100% raw very soon, but the more research I do, the more conflicting opinions of apparent experts I get. Anyone k

Hi, my daughter (now 3) @#$%& once every 7-10 days for the first year of her life. She was exclusively breastfed. I was told by my midwife that doing more than a few enemas on an infant are NOT good, they only encourage the bowels to function less on their own. When (if) a natural BM non enema induced occurs, does the @#$%& look normal? If it looks extremely thick/hard to pass, low moisture, tha

The best raw smoothie i've ever had (and incredibly filling, keeps me satisfied for 3-4 hours) is: Raw tahini, frozen banana and fresh raw almond milk. I blend it in my food processor rather than blender because it is more creamy that way and the processor requires less liquid to make it smooth. The result is a thick creamy (reminiscent of soft serve) consistency that is so satisfying. Maybe n
