It is very emotional when we realize our parents are not what we thought they were and worse, when we discover who they really are. My mother should not have had children. Period. I know it hurts. Rejection from a parent is an incredibly powerful emotion. You will have to learn how to deal with it vs suppress it. Most importantly, don't put yourself into the situation of allowing her to r

Give it try! If you like the lettuce after several days then great. There are lots of websites and books that list which foods need refrigerated. Some grocery stores even sell the books in the produce department. I have a great one that I bought at Albertsons but I'm too lazy to go upstairs and get the name of it right now. LOL!! My basic rule of thumb... if it is cooled at the store

My grammy had grapes in her garden and they were always swarming with bees and bugs. Lots of pesticides used on commercial grapes. I have never seen organic grapes... now I want some!

OMG, this whole discussion is deja vu. Rustic... it is a waste of time trying to get powerlifer to provide sources. Trust me. Read the thread "Doug Graham and Candida".

Try not to use exercise as a way to vent your anger or frustration. That is not the goal of exercising when you need to deal with emotions. Don't run or walk in anger... calm yourself BEFORE you begin exercising. What you are seeking with exercise is physical stress relief, quieting the mind, and release of feel good hormones. Often people express anger because they don't have any other c

I watched Celebrity Weight Loss on ABC last night and raw food took a bit of a hit. On a scale of 1-5, a dietician gave the raw food a ZERO, and some poor girl admitted to not dating because she eats raw foods. On the flip side the Cave Man diet was made to look legitimate and even showed a strong healthy barefoot runner during the clip. The diet ratings are in the second segment.

My parents were the same way! From my earliest memories I can remember being told not to cry or to stop crying. Especially after being disciplined (spanked) we were told not to cry... military style... we would be lined up and yelled at and told not to cry and threatened with more spankings if we kept crying... "I'll give you something to cry about!" Crazy stuff! I am like you, M

Paul... I think losing your sweet-tooth would resolve a lot. No sweet-tooth, no need for chemical sweeteners. Just sayin'... It is interesting that you brought up DDT and other organochlorine pesticides... did you know that sucralose is an organochloride chemical? Is there a toxicological difference?

It has to do with method used to freeze and method used to thaw and item being frozen. You are right in that the ice crystals damage cell walls. Now how is it that those little bugs and frogs can freeze and thaw and survive, and seeds and grass can grow after being frozen, and embryos can become babies afterwards, but they can't figure out how to keep a strawberry from getting mushy? LOL

Frozen foods: picked at the peak of ripeness. Fresh food at most stores: picked before ripe so it can last for weeks until sold. So, from that perspective some frozen foods just taste yummier -- organic strawberries, frozen, in a smoothie are soooooo flavorful. But overall, fresh is always better than frozen because as Tam said some frozen is flash pasteurized, some is blanched, and if not

I will not under any circumstance put a chemically modified sweetener into my food or drinks. Occassionally I will eat something with it in the ingredients because let's face it... that nastiness is in most processed foods. But NEVER will I add it to my own food.

Why did humans start cooking meat? Because there was a great big forest fire that destroyed thousands of acres of bountiful land and some animals died and the landscape was charred except for the caves that some humans had hidden in, and the starving humans scavaged the charred animals and one said "Damn, this is a whole lot better than that bloody rubbery stuff we sometimes eat and I can t

I am sorry that you lost your great uncle to the disease. I have also lost relatives to the disease. You cannot place guilt on yourself for not pushing harder. We cannot control people.
