Sweet potatoes (Ipomoea batatas) are safe to eat raw, not sure about yams though (g. Dioscorea).

I eat 1200-1400 a day, varied raw vegan diet (99% of the time, very occasionally i would eat tofu, steamed white potato, boiled buckwheat, quinoa, or white rice, and raw seafood when we go to japanese restaurant). Some of the staples are sprouted broccoli, mature broccoli, lettuce (lots), avocado (1 or 2 a day), sweet potato, cauliflower, tomato (lots), cucumber, onions and garlic, parsley and

Which vegetables are available in your country? Also, do you have access to grains, such as buckwheat and quinoa? Spaghetti is better than many other cooked foods, but they are not ideal since they are highly processed food and not wholefood. Instead I would boil some buckwheat or quinoa, both are very tasty and extremely nutritious.

I believe a lot of this is psychological. When I started raw diet myself I felt better almost immediately - I had stomach and digestion problems, and my stomach was hurting virtually all the time, and it *stopped* on the second day of the raw and controlled diet. I added "controlled" there because one of my problems was eating too much, I wasn't overweight but my stomach refused to c

If you are in UK then you most certainly have a Sainsbury's or Tesco or similar near where you live, and there you can buy organic fruits and vegetables. Often they will not be local, but if your primary objective is to get food which contains less pesticides, the supermarket organics would be your best bet. I too live in UK and found absolutely no problem being raw and finding organic produce.

Ditto with regard to eating garlic, and onions as well - they are very good for health! And tasty as well, yum yum. Wish there were no smell, that way i would be eating them every day But with work and everything I currently restrict my garlic/onion consumption to weekends or days when I work from home. I'm lucky that my partner loves onions and garlic as well, so at least no problems there

800 calories a day is a bit on a small side. What you will achieve in this way is lose weight quickly - but this can have very damaging consequences for your health. Body needs time to adjust to changes - any changes, including changes in weight and fat percentage. Other than that it is true that on a raw food diet it is easier to lose weight than on a cooked diet.

It may be that there are still enough gullible people which click on those links, often it's those who have little experience of the internet. But generally even advertisers are now beginning to realise that many people have developed such thing as 'ad blindness', in a sense that when people look for an information, and are presented with a page that contains both information and ads, they are ab

By the way, sauerkraut is so easy to make at home; the recipe I follow requires 1 shallow tbsp of sea salt per 1 litre glass jar of tightly packed shredded cabbage. So I shread cabbage in the food processor (I use 2mm cutting disk), to which I also add one medium carrot grated similarly on 2mm disk. Then mix it all with salt, in the process squeezing the mixture with fingers to encourage cabba

Yep it's a brand of a hot tub - have you seen Shrek 2, where they take a bath in the swamp and pass wind underwater to create bubbles? That's the idea, but in jacuzzi bubbles are created by the system, or rather jets of water which create small whirlpools underwater while you are taking the bath

I don't drive in a car to a gym to do exercise either, I walk there instead as it's just around the corner from where I work Fresh air exercising is great, though not everyone will have the opportunity, sometimes you just have to make do with what you've got. Interesting that I like simplicity too, quite a lot actually. But then arriving at a comfortable hotel room with jacuzzi waiting and di

It's a vegan forum so we can't discuss dairy products here, otherwise if you are fasting using juice then no, you don't take solid foods.

P.S. as a child I remember stealing raw potato wedges while mom was cutting them in preparation for the dinner. You know, when as a child you are hungry and can't wait until dinner is ready My mom used to say, don't eat it, your stomach will hurt! But I ate some anyway, and remember them tasting alright, starchy but cool and fresh. So I was wondering if juice is difficult to stomach taste-wise

I got a new colleague this year, and she is quite overweight. Funny but when I poped into her office to say hi, she was eating a takeaway plate with fried egg, sausage and canned beans, all swimming in fried oil. I smiled to her and said: that smells fantastic! Well, it sorta did, even though I would be very unlikely to ever eat anything like this again. But i would have said the same even

Me too, i'd rather have a comfortable car instead, that thing in the picture look rigiculous On beautiful warm days you just take the top off, on rainy days you put it back on and listen to the music of rain drops hitting the roof. Or put your own music on, and add some warmth if its cold. Yeh, I like my bike and take it out when i feel like it, but to rely on it for everyday needs - na

Haha that's true I haven't thought about it! I don't often wear flip-flops as it seems to me that my feet will get cold even during summer (although it's British summer admittedly). But I'm sure it's just because I'm not used to them, my partner on the other hand would wear flip-flops all year through, he is from New Zealand originally and this is what he used to do since childhood. His feet are

What is the experiment? It might be difficult to generalise, the balloons will differ - some will be bigger, some smaller, some firmer, some softer - which would affect the number of breaths.

What if you put creme/oil on your feet everytime before you wear flip-flops? I suppose the downside would be your feet would get dirty quickly, but the upside could be that the oil will protect the feet from drying up?

New salad: sauerkraut, tomato, beetroot, carrots, cucumber, broccoli sprouts, avocado.... and anything else you'd wish to add! Really tasty, and sauerkraut is so good for you. I've realised two things about raw diet: it takes time cutting all those salads, even with the help of blender/food processor. And the diet has to be diverse, or cravings will creep up! Haha I suppose it's not very diffe
