A couple weeks ago, my husband and I discovered we are pregnant with our first! We're elated and beyond excited! I have no symptoms so far... not even tiredness so hopefully that isn't something to be concerned about! I'm going to try and stick to at least 75% raw throughout this pregnancy but my main concern is getting enough calories. I'd love to hear advice from any of you ladies (or ge

I'm not sure if everyone is saying buy ripe fruit... I think most are saying to make sure the fruit is ripe before you eat it. I've never had a week where I didn't have to ripen some of my fruit on my kitchen counter.

QuoteAbout 1800 when I am active, about 1500 when I am not. If you are doing relatvely low-fat that means eating like a horse, which I do. I am 105 lbs and 5' 3.5". I need that half inch! Wow arugula! I could have written your post word for word. I am the same height, same weight and eat the same amounts you do based on activity level.

Cut out the rice for sure... if you do eat a cooked meal try to stick to very lightly cooked vegetables etc. Rice always makes me feel run down and lethargic when I have eaten it in the past.

I usually soak my berries for ten minutes or so in cold water (particularly mulberries and blackberries), drain and rinse and soak again... all kinds of little critters are in the bottom of the bowl when I have finished. Not sure if that helps at all!

QuoteWhy would you eat dehydrated foods unless in a emergency situation? I eat dehydrated foods occasionally because a) it keeps me raw through periods where I am craving things and b) it helps me get my husband and family to eat more raw dishes.

Hmmmm... very strange indeed. I just don't smell any greens when I make my smoothies. Its rare that I taste them either. I just went to my fridge pulled out kale and I had to basically be an inch from it before I could even begin to smell it. Bruce... you may be stuck eating greens separate and in whole form my friend. *hugs*

Bruce... what about arugula, dandelion greens, beet greens, escarole, endive or mizuna? Or is it basically greens in general? When I add a chopped up nectarine to my green smoothies, I can't taste any green at all. The tart sweetness of the nectarine seems to cancel out the smell and flavor of any greens (even kale). What fruit are you generally putting in them?

Mine are pretty darn smooth. I prefer my smoothies to be on the thicker side. They are usually 1 litre or more. I have a couple glasses of water throughout my day usually... when I feel I need to. I'm not sure what to suggest because I have never had a gagging problem with them. I love all the greens you listed as triggers. You could just try using less of them? How much are you putting in no

QuoteAnd those of us who have families, whose loved ones eat differently from us, often have to buy a whole lot of food *nods* very true kwan. This is why our grocery bill is so high. My husband is not completely raw (but I have gotten him to the stage where he now eats two raw meals a day!!)and we have an older dog that requires special food and medication.
