I've completely stopped wearing them for about, well, almost forever! I have quite a small frame, and any sort of pressure around my neck or back drives me insane! To make sure I don't end up 'sagging' later in life, I do a tonne of chest exercises and also use ice cold water on my chest in the bath/shower (an old French trick, apparently!). If I wear something that might be a bit revealin

Thanks, aquadecco Yeah, 'human rights' is such a freaky subject! It wasn't too long ago that 'blacks' were treated differently to 'whites', and even today, we still continue to persecute against our own species. I shudder to think what our great great grandchildren will look back on this era as.

Our individual fight is part of the fight, but when you have grown men and women who require the murder of living creatures, the destruction of the earth- just for them to feel normal- they are well and truly infringing on the rights of people who don't want that kind of negativity in this world- by sheer selfishness. It's not like they wake up and think "I WANT to ruin the earth for my g

If the world went vegan, we would be living in a society built on compassion, as opposed to greed- currently we live in a society that allows children to starve, AIDS sufferers to be ignored, a media to brainwash people- people who feel it is too much of an effort to 'try' to care. I see our current human behaviour as very similar to a virus or a parasite- we kill and destroy without reason.

Blend some soaked nuts or seeds with some water (to water down, if needed), a little spring onion (scallions), salt, pepper, a drop of olive oil, a mix of dried herbs + the nutritional yeast. You can add a little lemon or lime for flavour. Process. Voila! Use as a pate etc, or water down and mix into courgetti (delicious!). With the nutritional yeast and lemon/lime juice- I forget to add this

I found cacao drinks (cacao, maca (for the malt taste), agave, nut milk) were superb in getting me off of cola and coffee. Also, you can use the blades on your blender to warm it through (run it for a little while, and you'll find they'll heat up the liquid slightly). I saw a recipe somewhere for a nearly-raw Yerba Mate latte- it might been on gliving.tv. It looked quite nice, and would probab

it's made from psyllium husks. A good fibre/bulking agent. If you put some in a glass of juice, the husks swell (you can make a jelly out of a spoon of it mixed with a glass of apple juice). It's *almost* tasteless. You can find it in your health food shop near where they keep the lecithin. You'll see it as part of many cleansing courses.

For the record... Animal tests can NEVER be used as evidence for what is or isn't good for a human body. So whenever you read them as so called proof for a claim, discount them completely. Even primate research is unreliable. Animal research is done for one reason alone: to experiment either unnatural or dangerous substances or suggested situations on a species to pass information (usually

LOL, ah no, I didn't, I spent my money on a salad spinner instead :-) With the scary BM and nausea during the cleanse- is the first week the worst? As I can probably work from home for a week, and would much rather be closer to the bathroom for emergencies, LOL!

Hi Prism, thanks for the info. :-) Something funny happened to me a few days ago. Previously during the week, I had been listening to David Wolfe's Raw Summit podcast about syncronicity... For the last fortnight, I'd been trying to make up my mind about doing a parasite cleanse, what type of cleanse etc. I'd read some stuff abotu Wormwood that put me off (apparently it can have a bad affec

Hello pakua42! I'm not surprised you're feeling rough after eating the way you are! Using olive oil just to make up calories is an extremely bad idea, IMHO. You could make a green breakfast smoothie using a pineapple, a banana, a tonne of greens (spinach, watercress, rocket, kale), that would make you feel fab, whilst racking up the calories. Also, maybe you're limiting your diet too mu

Heya Tofu and soya has to be cooked as there is an enzyme in the soy bean which apparently causes stomach upset. When I used to make my own tofu at home, I had to soak the beans, boil the beans, squeeze the liquid out, add the coagulent and then boil some more. It was well and truly nuked! Ages ago on www.rawfoodtalk.com I saw a recipe or a link for a proper raw tofu recipe, so you might want

Hi islandgirl Are you getting lots of vit C? That's supposed to help... also, are you checking your nutr. intake on fitday to make sure you're getting adequate iron etc? Pre-vegan, I had horrible periods- leaking, fatigue, curl-up-in-a-ball cramps etc. Since I've been vegan (a long time now, under 10 years), I've been fine (though going SAD-style vegan screwed things up a bit). I've been hi

I've drunk green smoothies before without adding the fruit and using a fresh juice made from celery and/or carrot for flavour. It's obviously not as nice, but not unpleasant by any means Also, there are lots of sweet and savoury dishes that don't use fruit. For the ones that you want to try that do, just modify to recipe to suit your tastes. i.e gazpacho- use less tomato, add more greens and

is it the seed taste that puts you off or the texture? If it's the taste, you can try adding olive oil, garlic, herbs, tomatoes and lots and lots of onion to make a savoury bread...

Hi birdy When you exercise (and make sure you don't just rely on diet!), hold your stomach in tight so that you utilise the muscles - look in the mirror to make sure you're doing it right (your belly will look a lot flatter)- and as you exercise, feel the 'burn' there. If it hurts, you're not doing it right and remember to breathe properly as you do it. Also if you are doing exercises, don'

Yayyyy, like perbetty said, green smoothies! My skin is rocking since I'm having one once a day, everyday! In mine I put: 1 pineapple, 1 stick celery, handfuls each of spinach/watercress/rocket, 3 de-veined collard leaves, teaspoon of spirulina, a shot of wheatgrass. The pineapple is so sweet, it almost covers up the hot peppery watercress (it would taste better without, but I don't mind).

Until more studies are done on raw vegans and B12, I'm personally going to keep taking supps. here and there for peace of mind. Even if I wasn't vegan, I'd probably still take B12 supps. Anyone can be affected by B12 defiency- it's not a 'vegan only' problem. There are suggestions that normal vegans are less prone to B12 defiency than raw vegans because their cereal, margarine etc is fortifie

I always leave my cats' water bowl filled with tap water. They very rarely drink it- and prefer to drink from the pond, and any plant-pots that have collected rain water! I once had a glass of mineral water, and one of my cats stuck his head in it and started to lap it

Hi miss_tanya! I'm currently high raw, was an ethical vegan anyway so stuff like cheese, milk and other junk has never been a problem for me to avoid. If you need an extra incentive not to eat/buy dairy and meat products, just look at videos and pictures at peta.com or viva.org.uk. Being busy does make it a little harder to be raw! Coming home, starving hungry, and faced with a quick cooked

I'm a bit of a raw newbie myself, so I don't have nutritional advice- But if it's becoming uncomfortable, you can get fibre via a quick fix is psyllium husks in fruit juice/water. Also, are you eating fresh crunchy fruit & veg etc, or are you making dehydrated meals etc? Dehydrated, fancy stuff seems to upsets my stomach!

Man, some of these are making me heave!!!! :-D During my 'bad times' I would often work through the night and have a breakfast of a can of coke and 2 slices of toast with vegan margarine and marmite (vegemite) at about 5am. The sweet and salt together tasted beeaauutiful and kept me going for a few more hours!!! It's probably one of the things I miss the most about going raw. It's not eve
