My first raw meal that wasn't a giant salad was courgetti (courgette sliced with either a spiral slicer or potato peeler) and marinara sauce (tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, sundried tomatoes, herbs etc). It was super yummy! Another fave of mine from being raw in days past, was buying a bell pepper, slicing off the top, and stuffing it with a mixture of grated carrot, sprouts, sunflower seeds, sh

That would be so perfect! As we see society getting worse- more violence, more stress, more behaviour problems in children etc, there's this other 'raw' movement happening- people becoming vegan, going back to nature, organic foods, looking out for eachother etc. Some of the worse, stressful periods of my life when I was a person I wasn't particularly proud of being, were during times I wa

I don't own a dehydrator (yet) and was wondering how much power they use in contrast to an oven. Since some recipes call for 12-24 hour dehydration, that seems like a long time to leave something plugged in/on? Thanks in advanced folks

I just unpeel a couple of bananas, break them into pieces and freeze them in a tub. Then, leave them out to soften slightly and then chuck them in the blender (I don't have a processor) and add nut milk (to help the blades go round) and agave syrup to sweeten. Last time I made it, it took ages to start softening (I think my freezer is set on antarctic temperatures though).

I'm one week in (yesterday I had some cooked food (a chickpea soup and a slice of toast) as we literally had no fresh food in, and it was a wet, miserable Sunday and the shops were shut!). Woke up this morning relieved that I'd be eating raw today Already, my skin has been clearer this week, even though I have been drinking less water than usual, the tone is more even, less blotchy. Sorry, just to elaborate, they're just like normal condoms. Some shops just have the plain versions, others have the fruit flavours and ribbed. Is a fruit-flavoured condom considered raw? :-D

Hi Rrraw! Thanks for all the information, will have a read through and work out the best route from here. With the stress levels, it's not that I feel I need caffeine to exist, but more, it's an old habit- I used to associate only being happy/having my thirst quenched by drinking cans of coke! (crazy, I know)- that I'm likely to slip into when I feel I need energy when staying up late working.

In the UK, there is a brand called Condomi (I think they're actually German) that has the Vegan Society logo on them. You can get them from some pharmacies, and this place sells them: If you have a long term girlfriend, you guys may want to consider natural birth control. There are some gadgets that test the hormones in the woman's urine. Sounds icky, but is supposed to be 96-97% effective

Hello everyone and thanks for your input I think I'm finding I want to be raw, but because of my very lazy attitude to food (and the horrible things I put my body through and the emotional issue of it all), I feel I need to be in it totally to be able to stick with it, and to get the results I want. If I slip up, that'll be it! One day it'll be a baked potato... the next day, it'll be a can o

Hi everyone, Thanks so much for taking the time to reply So far, I've been working out my food the day before/early morning, then taking a necessary supplement if I am less than 90% of the RDA. Protein hasn't been a problem so far (eat lots of nuts!), but I am definitely having problems with zinc, and occasionally calcium. I've been taking a B12 supp to be on the safe side, can't hurt. I

Upper body exercises with weights- they work a dream! Get some dumb bells that are heavy enough to require effort to lift them, but light enough that you can lift them without straining too hard and do not hurt your back, shoulders, neck and arms. Some women prefer to start at a very light weight, say, just a couple of pounds, and then go from there. Also, before you get out of the bath/sh

I've been having a bowl of strawberries, an apple and orange juice. There's some recipes for raw muesli going around that look great! (raw oats, fruit, gojis and nut milk). You could make a fruit bar the day before and store it in your fridge- process dates, nuts, fruit, maybe a little cacao and press into a tin, refridgerate to set.

That sounds good, bronwynsun!!! I'll have a go but with agave syrup instead though, maybe chuck in some pecans (love pecans at the moment!). I've found being able to make drinks and puddings with cacao has helped with any cravings! Total lifesaver- avocado blended with cacao powder, agave topped with chopped nuts. Last time I went raw, raw date nut torte was really good (and pretty easy) a

I bought some a mixed sea vegetable pack from ClearSpring, and at first, found it quite pleasant, then the more I ate, the more I thought 'eurggh.....'! I don't mind nori (used to quite like vegan sushi), but eating the sea vegetables as part of a big salad just felt weird. I think I could happy just chew on it, but when mixed with other foods, it didn't feel right to me. < fussy!

<Droooool> that sauce sounded nice! I finally worked out how to make angel hair pasta with my saladacco! Yay! I made my sauce from sundried tomatoes, a fresh tomato and a couple of olives. It all looked so pretty I *almost* couldn't bring myself to eat it

You CAN be allergic to raw foods, it's called salicylate sensitivity (and it's not just raw foods either, it's lots of things), and I have it ;-) The reaction varies from a strange backache- very painful, and sharp, like being hit- hives, swollen throat, sore teeth, itchiness and headaches. I find that my reaction to fresh, raw fruit and veg is minor compared to the allergies I get when comin

High intake of vitamin c is linked to barely there periods (in a good way). If you're worried, you could try a few things: keep track of your nutrition and make sure that you get 100% of everything- vits, iron, protein, zinc- all of it. Then, visit your local well-women clinic for a check up. Avoid mentioning your diet or you'll get lazy, living in the dark-ages doctor syndrome: "y

Hi Bryan! I'd already seen the top link and wasn't sure what to make of the info within, but the second article was new to me and I found it very interesting, thanks There's a B12 section at veganforums.com that's been dedicated to B12 info for a long time, discussing supplements, jabs, natural sources of B12 etc. I think that given all the misleading information from doctors and the B12 a

When I've had a comfort food craving, I've cut carrots into match sticks and mixed them with olive oil, chili powder, garlic and sea salt and very lightly fried them*. * Obviously, this is old school and I'm on day #1 back to raw today! ;-) I wonder what a similar mixture would be like dehydrated? I don't own a dehydrator, but can really recommend the combo taste of carrot, chili, olive oil an

It seems that even now, doctors, nutritionists etc know very little about B12. B12 and veganism are almost always mentioned together, and I think that's a very dangerous attitude for people, especially professionals to take, since B12 defiency can affect anyone, regardless of their choice of diet. I've read that sprouts, sea vegetables, unwashed veggies etc have very small amounts of B12, but

I'm a big agave fan! It tastes like a cross between runny honey and maple syrup. I usually use it to sweeten smoothies or nut milk drinks. I don't think of it as being especially healthy, it's just a 'safe' + raw vegan alternative to sugars and sweeteners. I remember seeing a video of Ani Phyo on YouTube mentioning a really safe vegan friendly honey for one of her sweet-based recipes. It was

I have one of those Saladacco things and have no idea how to make it do the things it's supposed to! ;-) It makes carrots into curly disc spirals, but I want to make the angel hair stuff... do I need to precut the courgettes beforehand? I would love to see a picture or video to how these things work! < think I put my brain through the spiral slicer first

Hello all! Just wondering if someone can give me an example or a link to a menu or a shopping list for a single day of high raw vegan food that meets all nutritional requirements? vitamins a-k (including B12), protein, iron, zinc, calcium etc? Also, does anyone have a link to a site where if I thought I had a vitamin a defiency for example, it would list vegan sources for vitamin a? Tha

Hi everyone! I've been vegan for a while now (probably around or just under 10 years). I was in superb health up until a few years ago when I became self-employed and the stress turned me to caffeine and other bad foodstuffs, and left me a little overweight and constantly tired. Even though I've been getting myself back to normal, it's been hard. I'd dabbled in raw food before (felt fantast
